Awesome. I am so Heart Filled , seeing this !! Bravo..Encouragement without interference. Cheers ;-)) You got a new Co Star for your Channel show. lol
I've had a lot of success with two little tricks. One is adding a few grains of sand to the fireboard in the drill hole. And the second is actually creating a reverse wrap twisted string, out of shoe lace or 550 cord. The twists create a better grip on the spindle. Thanks for the vid!
You make it look easy and its one of the hardest fire methods I have ever done but one of the most gratifying also. Thanks for sharing this great VId...
Nice vid PackRat... mad skillz on that bow drill fire, you made that look easy and we all know its not. Cool to see you teaching fire skills to your cousins son also.
Great vid ! you should have showed him the reverse steel use where you pull the ferocium rod in stead of flicking the steel. As a kid i hated it when adults would "show" me how to do some thing by holding my hands then giving me credit when the task was accomplished, even tho i couldn't replicate it. Your kids will appreciate it more if they REALLY do it themselves. A little more patients goes a long ways.
@astrialkil I understand your point. I did try to show him reverse method, "pull the rod", but he didn't have the coordination to do that. I also tried to let him do it on his own for about 10 to 15 minutes with no result. When he said "daddy I don't want to do this anymore!" we knew we better help him see it could be done. He was quite satisfied with the results on this run, and we will work towards getting him to do it on his own with each outing. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Instilling the value of self-reliance in him at such a young age will have profoundly positive effects on the rest of his life. Wish my old man taught me like that!
hey man are you on bcusa? im vermillion8604 on there...great vid by the way brother loving the whole family thing...not much family here for me but im glad someone is able to do it lol
Great video bro, making memories with family nothing betta, sweet job on the bow method, esp in front of family( seems to make it 5x harder with family watching!!) btw could you have made it any harder for the poor cameraman, oops camera-lady( good to hear the laughing) =] again great vid had me smiling all the way thru, take care best wishes.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing. What was the tinder you used with the bowdrill by the way? Went up a treat. Cheers,

@NaturalBushcraft Thank you my friend! The tinder was a jute nest. About 4 inches of jute made that. Thanks for watching!

I don't mean to knock your fire making skills, you are obviously well practiced; but watching the Little Guy light it up ... way more fun!
Thanks for showing this important bushcraft skill, taking our families out to experience it with us.
