She (Rihanna) is stating it as if she were saying "I may be in magazines, but you'll still be my star". "Maybe" would have the lyrics translated to "perhaps in magazine, but you'll still be my star", which wouldn't make sense at all. Good effort trying to appear intelligent, though.
