  • J J Cale a super legend

  • Love JJ, he is the original guitar rebel. Merry christmas and a very happy new year to you all, and JJ cale. We love you all!!!!

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd ripped off off this guy

  • @antdigger lynyrd skynyrd covered this JJ CALE song

  • There is only one J.J. Cale, the style, the voice the guitar sound the licks, all original.

  • I will be happy when Mark Knopfler will admit in front of the cameras that he stole EVERYTHING from JJ.

  • @Lucalig Mark K has admitted his debt to Cale, counts JJ as "one of his major influences"

  • Simply brilliant.

  • ik en philp vinden dit perfeckt

  • How great a musician this guy is is reflected in the amount of Covers of his music done by just about any notable contemporary. Just check out the sidebar and you'll get the idea >>

  • Hey! Whats with all the handbag comments... Clapton this, Skynyrd that...??? What planet are youpeople from? This in one of the great Blues Tracks, A classic among classics and written by and performed here by one of the greatest living Blues Legends... Stuff the others! One of a kind as was Gallagher and as is Stevie Winwood! Amen!

  • j.j.cale,king.of.the.kings

  • ipso facto, shit;

    he's just great;

    just pleasure to listen to the poetry and music;

    just divine

  • Sounds like Bob Dylan's present day style was "slightly" influenced by JJ Cale.

  • I am ashamed to say I never heard of JJ Cale until today......Holy Shit this mother fucker is soooo talented.........

  • 100% PURE REAL ROCK'N'ROLL!

  • All drummers should be made to wear dungarees :) oh and learn how to groove like that dude.

  • I love the way it is about the music and not the appearance, image, stage management and all that crap. They just play, and my, do they play... Timing of his singing is fabulous.

Great to see him live, after years of listening to the records; live is so much better.

  • the cale !

  • I always loved the Lynyrd Skynyrd version of this song but have to say, this is feckin awesome. So laid back with a f##k it attitude, superb......

  • Great riff but I think the tempo of the Skynyrd version really makes the song

  • well i see them to plaing now eric and jj so as i see it all is good with them so

  • Bill Raffensperger,Christine Lakeland,Jimmy Karstien,Rocky Frisco,James Cruce,JJ Cale

  • pure groove, real playing on real instruments, no endorsements, no hairdo & makeup.

Baby if that's old school then sign me up.

  • It's like Calvin Russell, it's good.

  • This guy is so cool . We used to play this song way back then and dint know where it came from but i sure know now superamos31

  • I hope that people don't forget that Cale made a lot of the songs that Clapton plays. He is so laid back, love the style.. A true master.

  • Love JJ Cale's music and original style

  • jj cale is 1 ice cold bad mofo. awesome

  • I'd like to see the face of the four people who voted negative

  • @blooddys probably Clapton fan boys. Clapton music post Derek and the Dominoes was like a JJ Cale spinoff.

  • @blooddys me to ;-)

  • Gosh, that's some nice guitar pickin' too! Good stuff.

It's odd that Eric Clapton seemed to adopt Cale's whole persona in the 70's. Clapton was already a mega-star. He must've had some self-loathing going on to just kind of disappear into someone else's act. Who else has done that, really? It's like if Ozzy Osbourne would say, "oh I want to be Rob Halford now." It's just weird.

  • @HuntersMoon73 - I don't know about self loathing- but he was trying to distance himself from his mega-star status- started with Derek and Dominoes- he didn't want his name used....JJ is part of whats known as the Tulsa sound which clearly Clapton took a liking to...

I think they have come full circle tho- the album Clapton/Cale did together a couple of years ago- Road to Escondido- is brilliant...should check it out it if you haven't already...even has Derek Trucks on it...

  • @HuntersMoon73 likely the same reasons that EC wanted to be Muddy Waters earlier

  • @RisingSon011 Well, right it's perfectly understandable when you're young & starting out to try to shape yourself to your hero's style. But when you're 30-something and have already achieved icon status yourself, it's a bit unusual to exchange your style for someone else's. I'm just sayin'.

  • @HuntersMoon73 Oh I agree man . Clapton always kind of got on my nerves with his lack of originality . He wants to be a singer /songwriter instead of a virtuoso. But unfortunately , Don Williams and JJ cale he ain't !

  • I love J J been a life long inspiration and friend musically speaking, wondered if anyone would give my new track 'My sunshine' a listen ? the link is just above its the blue sky vid x

    Thankyou JJ much respect x

  • Great video, for fans of acoustic singer/songwriter-folk, have a listen to SION RUSSELL JONES.

  • I have seen the Cale/Clapton collaboration at the quitar fest thing in whatever year, but I like this version better.

  • J J Cale é puro rock'n'roll. A batida de The breeze contagia e não consigo ficar parado. O som é muito bom, não precisa de grandes efeitos. O que é bom, como o tempo fica melhor...

  • i fucking hate claptonfucking thieve bob marley,he had the muddy water tribute????Johnny winter produced muddys last four records

  • You Tube won't let me subscribe! quote: 'You have too many subscriptions compared to the number of your subscribers.' Well, what they missed is that music is my life, and I keep up with my 3,000+ subscriptions. In the meantime, I can't subscribe unless 'I delete some subscriptions'. Fat chance!

  • un géant du rok,folk. =p

  • It might be his song, but I still prefer Lynyrd Skynyrd's version.

  • Best live performance by JJ & company I've heard in a good long while! Too bad 'like' is the only evaluation offered. This is going on my 'Legendary Live 2' playlist...

  • Come on Christine, hit it!

  • @fbrieden Might be good but try a little of Jamie Ohare doing the Breeze, my brother of another mother.

  • the lines , "I dont hide from nobody, aint nobody hiding from me" are genius

  • awesomeness!

  • awesome

  • I like the lynyrd skynyrd version better

  • This song is one of my all time favourites. But this version is not the way he originally recorded it, it is nowhere near as good, Play it like it should be, don,t mess wth my memories.

  • He should be called JJ Cool

  • One of the greatest ever peformances on Jools Holland. His first solo is breathtaking.

  • jj cale has made many people famous

As well he should! JJ's an excellent picker, as well!

  • Never mind Sknyrd, J.J. Cale is here! Thanx for the vid!

  • He is good, I like his music.

    From Holland

  • 420.

  • nice shoulders honey... come here and let me give you a shot.

  • sonnymp3 it seems so easy great

  • Why isn't this genius better known?

  • ScooterNerd, Cale is indeed a songwriting genius but prefers staying out of the limelight - so that could explain why he's not better known.

  • thank god for mark for showing me jj kale hes the man harmronica bill.

  • Thanks...I have loved him since the early 70's. Do you have "I'd like to love you baby, but I've got another lover too" or something like that. I loved that song.

  • The Man!!!

  • type 420 if ur high!

im so hot that I just took all my close off!! SE

  • Thanks for the posting artrock, real good taste. C.

  • Love the voice...

  • Not a man to wear his heart on his sleeve but there's still about as much heart in his songs as there is in just about anyone else's.

  • Wow! What a genius!

  • And. of course, it's all about the money..

  • only if you want to interprete it like that...

  • Most laid back geezer ever..Clapton stole his voice back in the 70's..and some of his songs..the real thing.

  • 'Stole' is too harsh a word. As writer JJ probabally made more money from Eric's version's than he ever did from his own. Eric was clearly 'inspired' by JJ and imitation is a compliment.

  • These are very thrue words!I agree.

  • @artrock3d Agreed. And most (if not all) other artists who are mistakenly recognized (as the originators) for their versions of Cale's songs would likely agree. Cale and his recording companies granted permission to reproduce these songs. No one stole anything - especially, another's voice.

  • @artrock3d

Very well said....Its' the same for Fletdwood Mac with Elmore James & Led Zep with Willie Dixon.

    JJ ... U R a Legend mate.

  • JJ Cale happily admits that he makes more money from people covering his songs and likes it that way...seems he has more time to relax that way :-)

  • Where did you find this?

  • A friend of mine recorded it about 10 years ago and lent me the tape. A version of Cocaine was also on the tape which I've also posted, just in case you or anyone else is interested.

  • @artrock3d i love that version

  • that guitar, that rythm, the one and only JJ Cale
