I don't think people appreciate IKEA's designs. If you start doing something wrong, it is almost impossible to move to the next step (due to clever asymmetry). It's the same pieces (screws, particle board) as shitty generic made-in-china furniture, but someone has actually put some thought into it. I find it quite enjoyable. Sometimes I decide which piece of furniture to buy by determining which will come in the most pieces, and be the most fun to assemble :)

Everyone is so quick to show disdain for anyone that learns a skilled trade or digs ditches for a living. Put this damn thing in front of someone like a school janitor and come back in 5 minutes and it will be done..........
