Just finished this myself today, I was very surprised cause I expected the game to suck, but the campaign was sweet! And with so low sales, I guess there wont be a singularity 2 :(
most of people souldve already realized all the mistakes its because you saved taht guy from the beggining i didnt wanted rule with that maniac or kill myself soooo i killed them both but i dont understand the first ending did barisov became in the past future(sounds weird but that its kinda it ) a bad guy ora good guy because the statue of him its he being a bad guy or good guy and for what he used the TMD? confused me @,@
This game was too short! I'm gonna try to play it on hard now and actually listen to the dumb little audio recordings. Really wish they would have stolen the bioshock idea better and made it so that you could walk around with them -_-
OMG , it's so annoyng in the good ending he says that demichev or the one that you saved ( i don't remember his name ) should have died when that thing collapsed , right ? And the they say that the only way to save the world is to kill himself . If that guy shold have died why didn't he killed demichef when he carried him thorugh the burning house -_-"
I wish that there had been more endings than this... they were all interesting plot twists... just not very satisfying.
if only we could have gone back in time and did the old New Game+ "Chrono Trigger" deal with better endings available after multiple playthroughs and all of that... maybe... Renko could Hijack the Chopper, go back in time, Save Kathryn, and kill Barisov? or perhaps he could kill Demichev in 1955? or kill both of them THEN go back in time. There are better possibilities...
I don't understand, if you killed yourself then the whole game never happened. You never altered the time line and nothing ever happened. So why is it that stopping yourself in the present creates a different time line. I guess they're trying to say that if you never went back in time the past changed anyway?
@aintisaword I think that Demichev saying that he rebuilt the Singularity gave Barisov the idea to do the same. But without Demichev to corrupt the TMD, the E99 eventually proved more powerful than the US's atomic power, either swaying the balance of the Cold War in Russia's favor or eventually promoting cooperation between the two.
But that already happened, the only thing that changed was Demichev being saved. After the credits they show the girl you worked with swimming up from the water when we all thought she was dead. She left a note on someone's desk and that is what changed the timeline. But again, without you traveling through the alternate time line to help her out that never happened. So nothing should have changed.
Shouldn't there be a fourth option? Kill both the guys, let the Singularity collapse, destroy the TMD/chuck it in an ocean somewhere/just not use it, and leave it at that? Why automatically 'ruthless guy personally vying for world domination?'
@vfaulkon I realize this comment is 3 months old, but i couldn't help but to reply. I agree with you 100% on that one, there should've been an ending similar to the ones that you stated previously. or one where Renko uses the tmd to somehow halt the discovery of E-99, making everything that happened in the game redundant... or something like that. =]
@hellsnowkid you cant, i tried that too and btw you dont need to kill him first since if you kill him in the past he'll die in the present but yeah i had the same idea too
There's one thing i don't get. When you first save Demichev, you don't save anyone else and when you go back and kill yourself, it turns out Barisov survived, when in original timeline, he didn't. Why is that?
o.k. there is only one way too fix all of this. if you find your self in the past, DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING! also why didn't he just go further back and stop himself, like acctually going up to himself and say "hi i'm you, let him die, or he kills america."
In the intro to the game we learn that the Russians were trying to create the singularity, but ultimately failed. When you save Demichev the first time this alters the past so the singularity is created. Once this happens the time line is irrevocably changed. This is why you cannot go back to the "original" timeline.
Ending 1: U kill urself, but another version of u is somehow alive in the future, but the war still happened, but Barisov happens to be the one ot end it and is a hero
Ending 2: U help train an army of fighting machines but decides not to over throw Demichev with ur connections(dont know y u wouldnt), and now there is a cold war where u will probaly win.
Ending 3 : You kill both of them and u "dissapear" to come back for world domiantion. Ending 3 = <3
@TheBlackRoz well with ending two its more like you taken over russian without having to try and demichev fled to usa and is preparing to fight you so it like a world goverment split into two factions though publicly its still one nation though its only a matter of time until war between you and demichev
@TheBlackRoz With ending 1, you do kill yourself, but by breaking the cycle of repeating your actions and saving Demechev, history corrected itself and you never crashed on the island in the first place, and in turn, you could never have died there in the first place, though you somehow retain your memories I guess. Just refer to Igor0seven's comment in the Top Comments, its all a bunch of inexplicable paradoxes that occur from the extreme distortion of both time and space.
kill demichev in the den yull end up in chopper just like in the beggining look at devlin gun in the beggining his using scar L but in ending hes using valkyr
thats why time travel sucks you mess up not good, try to fix it turns bad, try a second time worse, try a third last time its all fuck up, then your like fuck this i go for the first try its still bad but not as fuck up like the other 2 .
@hairylegsproductions in ending 2 you about to fight a war with Demichev if you win your the ruler of the world same with ending 3 you rebuilding america into your own personel empire with plans to take over the world
But would any1 mind explaining one thing to me? How exactly did you go back in time the first time when you saved Demicev? you didn't have the time travel thingy then :s
@LazyBlueStar You got sent back by a pulse from the Singularity. Even though the tower wasn't operable time had formed a path that would set you there to save Demichev.
There is also the "red step" or "red footprint" if you like. Before taking the last turn to the singulariti press "F" (ping), you will see a red step among the white ones. What does that mean? I belive that the red step is a future "wrong move". If you would have the possibility to ping the begining of the game you would fine another red step when saving Demichev (if I'm not wrong there is a footprint in the flames before you save him). So if that is true than all the endings are wrong.
As I see it, the only way to restore the normal time line would be to ensure that Demichev was killed just before you first encountered him (perhaps being on the floor below your original self and shooting him before he could be pulled to safety, or shooting him as he comes out the door) that prevents Demichev from living and your original self from altering the tim eline setting everything right.
I *really* gotta get me one of those...Somebody who won't shut up? Use a Deadlock! Somebody pissing you off? Age them to dust! Want to instill fear without self-expense? Turn a random bystander into a Revert! Not to mention the thing looks incredibly badass. If only the TMD amplifier was still orange instead of blue...
The ending with Barasov as leader will always be a time paradox. No matter how you look at it, the end result is the same. Remember, as confusing as the ending maybe, it doesn't make it any less possible. The time paradox is irrelevent because time itself is, in essence, irrelevant as Einstein pointed out. Also remember, in a black hole, the laws of time and space, laws of gravity, and the laws of physics do not apply. Anything can happen and this game does a great of showing just that.
@Igor0seven Think about this though if you wanted to be anything close to the real time line all he would of needed to do was block the doors he was meant to go through at the start so the guy can't change anything, after all the singularity only lasted 3 minutes or so.
in the good ending where u kill ur self, the marine in heli says "i never get tired of seing that" means he has already seen the statue of the 'good' doctor with tmd ? so the 'good' doctor is in fact rulling the world instead of dictator ?!?!!? isnt its a bit fail ?
@AeRoS0n No he isint, I'm supposing that inventing time & space minipulation devices is worth a few hundred statues. the scientist never had any intentions to use the element for war.
in fact the whole game is fail, if u change something and then try to change it in past bouces u ve already changed it, its like infinite nonlogical loop the time as we know would collapse becouse of it
Thanks. I finished game at normal and killed them both, then i finished at hard and killed Demichev, but i didnt finished it 3rd time to see what happens if i kill Barisov because of being bored...
Anysway, Singularity is one of the best games i've ever played.
The first ending is the worst fail ever. If you went back in the past and killed yourself, it'll mean you would've died and therefore you wouldn't have been able to go back into the past and kill yourself in the first place!
In a hidden ending, Chuck Norris drops from the roof and roundhouse kicks both of these douchebags. Then, he stares at you. His infinitely frightening stare makes the TMD crap itself and release from your arm, destroying it self. Then, Chuck Norris has a staring contest with the Singularity, and wins. The world has been restored.
I stopped trying to figure out how time traveling in fiction could be in anyway consistent. Awesome game nevertheless. Maybe a bit too many banelings.
@LouisTheMarine1 hahahah i did the same first shot Demicev cuz i wanted to be the "good" guy but then Barisov wouldnt shut up about what i should do over and over...and i guess my hand slipped :P
i expected more from this game,at the end i wanted to go back in time use the TMD to stop time(put myself and demichev in the bubble) and kill just demichev
I just noticed yet another loop hole, you could have shot Demichev while you were carrying him and thus problem solved, hell you could use a deadlock and then take your time to snipe precisely Demichev with out harming your self. Thus fixing the proper time line that was derailed.
@jon2260 yeah but if you kill demichev then you break the time cycle and your past self returns to normal and you rewind completely, in other words your memory ceases to exist.
@monckey100 No, because the you that went back in time at the fire and killed Demichev stays there, there fore changing the future. Remember all the written things on the walls were made by a you from the past that didnt kill you in the fire, if that makes sense, so by killing you in the past, you stop the cycle.
@monckey100 If you do that, then the events that lead you to go back in time and do so also will not happen, and thus noone would be there to kill him so he would live. --> hurray time paradox XD
@frozencanadian ...ah i understand now but if you killed the guy your saving you would also cease to exist(your future version that went through all that crap) so thus again it would be as though you never saved him...(lol double paradox?!)
I had expected the game to be longer :/ But at least all of the endings are great :D and the horror in the scientist's voices when they see the bomb you're holding
I had expected the game to be longer :/ But at least all of the endings are great :D and the horror in the scientist's voices when they see the bomb you're holding
@Rebldoomer That was after the credits of the game. I made a separate video of that since I couldn't fit it in the 10 minute time limit (that's now 15)
i like the 1st ending but they really need to make a second one because i don`t get it
go in time kill self bodies get charred fire kills everyone kill past self future never comes no TMD time should go normally hmmmm yeah i need a sequal
@Zeta439 nah he wouldnt want the singularity for himself why have that petty piece of a weapon when he has the most powerful weapon in the world? the CROWBAR ^_^
if there is going to be a second game it would be cool to have the ability to coltrol the little ticks and make them act like the swarm plasmid from bioshock
that is kinda unfair...Why kill yourself when you can go back in time and kill DEMICHEV whos on your arms and thats it!Why the hell you must die too?damn
At first I was going for ending #1, but then I realised I could kill Barisov too XD

Thanks. I finished game at normal and killed them both, then i finished at hard and killed Demichev, but i didnt finished it 3rd time to see what happens if i kill Barisov because of being bored...
Anysway, Singularity is one of the best games i've ever played.
KarolnovyPPP 1 year ago
The first ending is the worst fail ever. If you went back in the past and killed yourself, it'll mean you would've died and therefore you wouldn't have been able to go back into the past and kill yourself in the first place!
LivingdeadMetal 1 year ago
Has anyone noticed, the voice-over guy for the evil ending is the voice-actor for the G-Men in Psychonauts?
DelphanGruss 1 year ago
actually the first ending is what whe could call "good" the second is the "bad" one and the 3 is the "normal" one
HakotanDMC 1 year ago
So essentially every ending is bad?
First one all that happens is another evil dude takes over the world
Second one you become evil and take over the world
Third one, everything goes tits up and monsters kill everyone

SPOILER!!!:
In a hidden ending, Chuck Norris drops from the roof and roundhouse kicks both of these douchebags. Then, he stares at you. His infinitely frightening stare makes the TMD crap itself and release from your arm, destroying it self. Then, Chuck Norris has a staring contest with the Singularity, and wins. The world has been restored.

I stopped trying to figure out how time traveling in fiction could be in anyway consistent. Awesome game nevertheless. Maybe a bit too many banelings.

I went with the 3rd ending.I had 2 reasons. 1. barisov doesn't know when to shut up. 2.Demicev was to big of a threat...I shot him in the nuts.
LouisTheMarine1 1 year ago 17
@LouisTheMarine1 hahahah i did the same first shot Demicev cuz i wanted to be the "good" guy but then Barisov wouldnt shut up about what i should do over and over...and i guess my hand slipped :P
LazyBlueStar 10 months ago
i expected more from this game,at the end i wanted to go back in time use the TMD to stop time(put myself and demichev in the bubble) and kill just demichev

All those endings - either ways, the world is fucked beyond repair
TheVoiceOfReason93 1 year ago
@TheVoiceOfReason93 not rly, in the one that you kill yourself, the world is united.
jon2260 1 year ago
I just noticed yet another loop hole, you could have shot Demichev while you were carrying him and thus problem solved, hell you could use a deadlock and then take your time to snipe precisely Demichev with out harming your self. Thus fixing the proper time line that was derailed.
monckey100 1 year ago
@monckey100 nah, if u try that the game rewinds you, and youHAVE to kill yourself.
If u kill Demichev, u are still there, u are the anomaly, u cannot remain there, not ur time.
jon2260 1 year ago
@jon2260 yeah but if you kill demichev then you break the time cycle and your past self returns to normal and you rewind completely, in other words your memory ceases to exist.
monckey100 1 year ago
@monckey100 No, because the you that went back in time at the fire and killed Demichev stays there, there fore changing the future. Remember all the written things on the walls were made by a you from the past that didnt kill you in the fire, if that makes sense, so by killing you in the past, you stop the cycle.
jon2260 1 year ago
@monckey100 Since you were the anomaly, u have to be removed from 1995

frozencanadian 1 year ago
@monckey100 If you do that, then the events that lead you to go back in time and do so also will not happen, and thus noone would be there to kill him so he would live. --> hurray time paradox XD
frozencanadian 1 year ago
@frozencanadian ...ah i understand now but if you killed the guy your saving you would also cease to exist(your future version that went through all that crap) so thus again it would be as though you never saved him...(lol double paradox?!)
monckey100 1 year ago
@monckey100 yeah.... time travel sucks lol XD

I had expected the game to be longer :/ But at least all of the endings are great :D and the horror in the scientist's voices when they see the bomb you're holding

what was the part at the end of the game where you see the girl (who i thought died earlier in the game), swimming in the water towards the ladder?

@Rebldoomer That was after the credits of the game. I made a separate video of that since I couldn't fit it in the 10 minute time limit (that's now 15)

Interresting, the 3rd ending seems to be a prequel to Left 4 Dead, especialy with Renko's hand at the end.
