drag me to hell is a fantastic horror comedy when it comes to suspense and making you jump, it is a bit cheesy, but it is a perfect mix of horror and comedy. it drags on a bit on the second half of the film but this is only a small problem. The key to the horror is making the audience so disgusted with what they are seeing, and it works very well, i bought this on dvd bbefore i know how it was going to be, and am very glad with it. :)
That movie wasn't funny. It was scary with lovable characters and above all a terrible way to go. The danger was that she wouldn't just die but she would be dragged to hell were she would tormented for ever. This combination makes a good horror movie for me. And the acting was just fine. I would give it a 9/10 for this movie.
@freakmetallica Some people have forgotten this style of horror after so many years and barely want any of the other genres mixed in with horror, nowadays. To them, horror = scary, comdey = funny. Never could they ever understand a horror movie with humor. And it's not just Evil Dead and Drag me To Hell that has this style. Brain Dead a.k.a. Dead Alive has this too and it really makes it work. These kind of horror flicks are only understood by those who know.
Oh shut up with the facebook shit................Drag Me to Hell was good for a number of reasons. The lead was not a slut, there were no fkg scenes, no tits, no ass, no stupid teenagers pretending to be cool, just good ol jump out of your chairs fun scares. I would've preferred it to be more serious, but some people have to have humor in scary flicks. Ms. Lohman took her part seriously (not like Justin Long) and therefore, is a very good actress. She's adorable too.
Actually I prefer movies of the 70's, 80's and 90's. The Decade 2000-09 was very weak BUT it had decent horror films (Wrong Turn, Cabin Fever, Switchblade Romance aka High Tension, Wilderness, The Descent, Tamara, Orphan, House of Wax, Reeker, The Ruins, Splinter, Terminal Invasion, Kill Theory etc)
Drag Me To Hell was too short but still very cool film. Alison Lohman showed great acting and Lorna Raver was stunning as Sylvia Ganush.
ok, so the modern horror movie is made up of sevral segments - hot chick - bad guy - sec scene - bad guy tries to kill hot chick - hot chick some how defies logic and kills bad guy - another sex scene - lives happily ever after. i like this movie because it's not a typical horror movie.
It didn't have the same gruesome hilarity as Evil Dead, or as good of a story, but still good. Would've been better if Ellen Page had been able to be in it like they planned.
tbh it was pretty stupid but i liked it anyways one thing that bothered me was the parking lot scene SPOILER ALERT: she crashed her car twice and not once did the airbags pop out wtf?
its not about getting , he just made a shitty movie out of know where so terrible , a talking goat ? terrible Graphics ? Bastard dancing on the table ? its a joke!
I Loved this movie! it was funny, scary and a really enjoyable to watch, and i like that its not your average slasher horror its a different type of horror movie.
My friends and I went to see this movie to the theatre. You HAVe to watch it witht he right audience, otherwise it comes out as lame. XD Most of the time we were "ugh... " "eeky..." "Omigosh ._.UU" "Yuck!" "XDDDD I don't want my popcorn anymore!!" WHA-GROSS!!!" OMFG!!! THAT?S SOOOO NASTY ANDGROSS AND-OH NO THEY DIDN'T!!!" and stuff like that. XD It was hilarious XD
I loved Drag Me to Hell! Raimi's signature mix of the occult, horror, and campy violence was a breath of fresh air. I also liked the simple, almost fairy tale quality of the plot. It's good to go the classic route after years of tortute movies.
This movie had what almost every modern horror movie lacks these days. And that is a good, coherent plot. If I had a Chuck E. Cheese ticket for every horror movie ruined by a ridiculous, convoluted plot, then I'd be able to buy every piece of crap at the prize counter. Sam should be praised for this!
I liked this movie actually, I think one shouldn't expect the grudge those creepy ghost horror movie. This is more like in your face just like evil dead. Btw is the girl doing the interview and all the same girl who plays the protagonist's aunt in Vampire Diaries.
I wasn't aware it was a comedy as well, i watched it first time and said this is horrible as a horror film but pretty damn funny, i loved the whore goat
The only REASON this movie scared me was because of my church teacher o.O...he was like. if you do bad youll burn in hell forever. and youll feel everything and never die. i was only like 8 years old and ever scince then hell has been the scariest thing ive ever heard of
@coneric Well I am stunned to see someone who know why people would NOT like a movie, is there a school for that? I know Sam's movies very well & I would rate this as one of the all time worst I have seen. My friends agree.
@coneric Agree 100% It was like revisiting Evil Dead 2, which is one of my all time favorite movies. This film and Crank 2 are not comedies, but I thought they were the funniest films of 2009... with the exceptions of Zombieland and Hangover, of course.
I love Raimi horror! It's such a shame many people don't appreciate it enough. Mrs. Ganush's staples, innocent kitties and LAMIA!!! ROFL. Drag me to hell was one of the best movie experiences of late.
So far, my favorite horror film of the year besides Drag Me to Hell is the remake of Friday the 13th. It was basically everything the original should've been; a maniac killing stereotypical teenagers.... and making it believable. The kills in the original looked fake, but in the remake, it really looks like they're dying and bleeding.
As for Drag Me to Hell, it's my favorite film of the year; better than District 9.
Sorority Row, Uninvited, Friday the 13th, Saw VI? You guys need to go back a few decades when horror was at its prime. You can't watch this film with the shitty horror remake mentality you obviously have.
Slightly better than the Friday the Thirteenth remake? Come on bro, that shit was hoooorible. Yes this movie was cheesy and predictable, but when done right, thats not necessarily a bad thing.
I'm so glad that Allison Lohman got the part. I'm not sure Ellen would have been as effective. I'm sure that the comedy would be much greater with her, but Lohman added a nice touch to the film.
nice review. the viewers got it right on. It wasn't bad, pretty creepy, yes the old woman was gross. I give it a 6. I think the one I "enjoyed" the most this year was the uninvited.
This movie really does suck ass. Id give it a 2/10, I reserve the 1 for ghosts of mars which is the worst movie ever made.
Thing is, just because you shove 87 jumpscenes into a movie and really gross moments with blood and mucus doesnt make it fucking scary. The acters sucked, the story sucked, the ending was predictable 40 minutes before the ending.
Yesterday I watched th movie and it was kida (really) scary. I almost jumped 2 meters high at the part when something came in her house (first time when the thing came through the window). I had to laugh at the part when her nose is bleeding. But it kinda is a good horror movie and you are right that gipsy is so gross. I think it is a good horror movie.
it was a pretty good movie and i enjoyed it but i hated the end ! i know that scary movies aren't supposed to have a happy end but this movie had a chance to have a GREAT HAPPY END but unforuntly CHOOSE the freaking scary one
i thought it was really good cause there was no "mystery" to solve and no little freacky kid in it (so stupid these days). It was just a really good horror flick....MUCH better than halloween 2 (which suked @ss BTW)....drag me to hell...best one this summer!!!
The Uninvited is the best horror movie of 2009. The ending is really really creepy and it has a good story unlike other horror films. I just saw Drag Me To Hell and I also find it very good.
i would give it a 6/10 too. It was an average movie. It had some parts when I actually thought it's a good movie but it was so obvious when they put the button in the envelope that she will misplace it with the coin so I was just thinking for 20 minutes: WHY THE HELL do I have to see her struggle to give a coin to somebody else or back to the gypsy lady?? When her boyfriend has the real button. And the ending totally screwed up everything.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Just finished it, ugh, this movie sucked so bad. SPOILERS! ---
Who has an anvil in their tool shed... that is also randomly tied to a rope to hang around for special occasions. The gross stuff was kinda dumb at times, why did the gypsy lady need to shove her arm down the girl's throat? The main character really deserved to die in the end. When they put the button in the envelope, I could already predict what would happen next... Poorly thought up movie, was glad when Christine finally died. 6/10
my bloodily valentine had good 3d effects but it was nothing compared to the ordinal with was better in my opinion . i rather like drag me to hell it had the great balance of everything that goes to movies.
come on dudee... you would die to have the talent and looks of alison lohman, who does an exelent job in this movie. Your just a typical girl bashing another girl because she is better than you. BTW your show sucks and you are anoying.
Drag Me to Hell is the only film to come out this year so far that I can call a masterpiece, though Knowing does come pretty close (yeah, I love Knowing; sue me). I don't recall any funny parts, but the scary parts are thrilling, and I can feel the characters' emotions. It's my absolute favorite of the year, let alone a horror film.
It was a pretty good movie, cool story, very scary and the ending was just fucked up haha :D

I had to laugh at the part when her nose is bleeding. But it kinda is a good horror movie and you are right that gipsy is so gross. I think it is a good horror movie.

i thought it was really good cause there was no "mystery" to solve and no little freacky kid in it (so stupid these days).

The Uninvited is a very mediocre re-make of A Tale of Two Sisters, which is a very scary very well crafted film.

i would give it a 6/10 too.

my bloodily valentine had good 3d effects but it was nothing compared to the ordinal with was better in my opinion . i rather like drag me to hell it had the great balance of everything that goes to movies.
twilightrullermiriah 2 years ago
come on dudee... you would die to have the talent and looks of alison lohman, who does an exelent job in this movie.
