The sled elevated on crates and the one sitting next to it with the strobe-stripe decal; does anyone have info on those? When I was a kid, my neighbor (Ironwood, MI) used to race a sled like them, only with an asymetrical hood, back around '75 - '77. It would be cool to find it (or one like it) if someone still had it stashed someplace.
AS FAR DRAG RACING BEING DONE COME ON DOWN TO WHERE I DRAG RACE AND I WILL SHOW YOU HOW UNDONE DRAG RACING IS AND I WILL SMOKE YOUR ASS ON ANY THING YOU BRING I TAKE OFENCE TO YOUR REMARK!!!!
im talking motorcycles my buddys and i messed with sleds back in the day and from what i learnd is sleds have a hard time running on anything as far as my drag bikes go they all run on alc. and go faster and run just as cool as a cucumber you could hold your hand on motor after a pass i agree to disagree with you LOL
wow, you are retarded. Two strokes can very easily run on alcohol. Bigger jets and different tuning is all it takes. Many people run drap 2 strokes on alcohol.
@jimmyjohn2468 No they don't. Thats why using fuel with high levels of ethenol cause engines to run lean and burn them selves out. As for racing applications it's different because engine longevity is not a factor. The thin alcohol will wash past the piston rings and potentually ruin your crank bearings if it doesn't overheat first. I would like to hear your thoughts as to why 2strokes apparently love the stuff.
@jimmyjohn2468 Your engine won't last long. I didn't mean it couldn't be done but running alcohol is a bad idea. Just stick with pump gas, drag racing is done. Speed hasn't improved since the ninety's. My old mach still holds it's own but the whore is a bastard on fuel. New sleds ride nicer but not faster!
Its a special 4 Cylinder 800cc Motor Made by hirth, very rare. I may be wrong buti think it runs on alcohol, hopefully somewone could correct me if i am wrong.
hirth never made 4 cylinder. the hirths were triples like the 793 (also called an 800) the 4 cylinder 800s were kawasaki engines. they can run on alcohol, they experimented in the '70s with it. but for the most part just pump gas. (depending on the compression then it would need race fuel) as far as i know the HP is unknown

Two-stroke motors can't run on alcohol dumbasses. Fill up your weed wacker with it and see what happens or better yet your brand new sled!
