A career that ran from 1954 until 1977 and people still choose to run Elvis down for the last three years of his life when he wasn't well? Yes, he took prescribed drugs, and probably died of polypharmacy, but he was pushed by his manager to do exhausting tours, 5 or 6 weeks with two shows a day, travelling between shows daily. How mant stars of today could hack that? Not many.
I dont care how he looked, or what he used, he was the greatest singer ever. It is such a stupid remark to make of him dying in the bathroom - who gets the choice of where they are going to die? Even on his worst day, he looked better than most men I've seen in their forties. @simonetr81 I purchased the discs of the three shows used to make the CBS special 'Elvis In Concert' a few years ago and I was quite surprised that he was nowhere near as fat as people say. He had middle age spread and the white suits accentuated that but I would not have called him fat. He didn't look well but that's a different issue, as you said he was the greatest. They don't call him The King for nothing.
I agree he wasn't fat. More bloated - his arms and legs were fine. The Sundial Jumpsuit was not flattering to anyone. It had the large circle in the middle. Elvis was allowed to age. Middle age hits us all and most of us don't have to wear tight fitting white jumpsuits which are only flattering if you are very thin.

Near the end of the show he brings his dad Vernon out and mentions Elvis mentions his dad recently had a heart attack but is doing better. Vernon's heart attack was around march-april '77 ** show is well worth checking out!

Actually according to Elvis Day by Day, which used the graceland archives, june 26 was his last concert. No show on august 14th. he wnt motorcyvcle riding with ginger joe and billy on that day, thats all thats documented.

People only like to remember the worst of any person and I really hate it when everyone calls Elvis fat. He was 6ft and even his normal weight was around 165.
And he IS the King, for God sake!! And NOT a Model ! Just listen to him. Listen-to-him. Though he had many serious medical issues he gave his best! His life and death should be one of RESPECT and LOVE and not one of dumb comments. Lord, what a waste of oxygen some clowns are! Elvis was+is absolutley the greatest singer ever!! period!

@simonetr81 I purchased the discs of the three shows used to make the CBS special 'Elvis In Concert' a few years ago and I was quite surprised that he was nowhere near as fat as people say. He had middle age spread and the white suits accentuated that but I would not have called him fat. He didn't look well but that's a different issue, as you said he was the greatest. They don't call him The King for nothing.

I agree he wasn't fat. More bloated - his arms and legs were fine. The Sundial Jumpsuit was not flattering to anyone. It had the large circle in the middle. Elvis was allowed to age. Middle age hits us all and most of us don't have to wear tight fitting white jumpsuits which are only flattering if you are very thin.

I got this (well, my dad does) on tape. Elvis looks pretty fucked up on it. We even see him taking drugs once a while from his glass of "water".
The man was seriously pale and I didn't know why people didn't realize he was having his last.

@ahgoodmorning - Actually the part of Fairytale where you see Elvis real good is NOT from his last show. How do I know? Easy, You see rings on his fingers. He did NOT wear Rings at his last two shows - Cincinnati and Indianapolis. His fingers was swollen and his rings could not fit so he didn't wear them. The footage where Elvis appears a pinkish type color that is from his last show. Any footage that claims to be from his last show, please take note on his fingers.

you can download the entire concert on limewire * BTW, this WAS his last show! If you watch the entire show(which I have)you can easily tell he is more "bloated" than in other camera angles. Near the end of the show he brings his dad Vernon out and mentions Elvis mentions his dad recently had a heart attack but is doing better. Vernon's heart attack was around march-april '77 ** show is well worth checking out!

I think this version of FairyTale is even better than the one he did for CBS. You can hear what it would be like in an auditorium- the fans- the echoes just make it all the more real.
Plus I think he was less nervous and put more energy into this version. Elvis great as Always!

Actually according to Elvis Day by Day, which used the graceland archives, june 26 was his last concert. No show on august 14th. he wnt motorcyvcle riding with ginger joe and billy on that day, thats all thats documented.

ok people I just went to internet and checked out about 50 sites on Elvis and went though about 15 of my books. They all say June of 1977. I to have been to Graceland and saw nothing about an Aug. concert. But putting all this fighting aside. I am still happy to see everyone loves Elvis.
