i try and try to listen to both communities of Norther Ireland. I wish peace to them all. ( i have my opions, but im not from there ( American with Irish on all sides). Does this disqualife me from talking about the troubles- no, it does disqualfie me though from talking like i know everthing. so many people just spew shit there are two sides to every thing but this was horrible just disgusting/ who treats a child like this, sad. to see a little girl cry. is this a normal display from unionist
look at all you fuckin clowns writing big words and long sentences.
BOTTOM LINE.
YOU DONT THROW BALOONS FILLED WITH PISS AT 6 YEAR OLD SCHOOL GIRLS, AND CALL THE SLUTS, YOU SHOULD NEVER TREAT A CHILD LIKE THAT. WHAT THE LOYALIST PRODDY SCUMBAGS DID WAS A HOLY DISGRACE. GROWN MEN AND WOMEN SREAMING AT 6 YEAR OLD SCHOOL GIRLS.
Ultimately i wrote all of the below because I wont allow some narrow minded poster of this video to twist the right and wrong of what took place through his narrow minded sectarian bigotry. Bottom line if you had bothered to look at the history of the Ardoyne you would clearly see that both communites wronged and wounded each other. So at least be fair
Ulitmately there are “None so blind as those that will not see.”
14)The question is, are we going to allow the small minority to screw it up again, it was a small minority who ignited the Holy Cross situation, on both sides. At least have the honesty to admit it. I am all for each community standing up for their RIGHTS as long as they take the RESPONSIBILITY for trying to heal & acknowledge the pain for the other. We also need to see the need we have for each other, or else we will lose each other.
13)By accident of birth I am a working class protestant, but I’m no “blow-in” my lineage is far more Irish than many, with ties to Irish royalty & Scottish clans, Protestants & Catholics are not different people, but people with differences.
12)Someone once said to me, “that it was ridiculous what the indigenous people of Ireland have to put up with in the occupied north” As a father of 4 who has brought his children up to value people & to see the person not their religion, I was offended by that statement, it made me feel that I had wasted my time, trying to bring my children up opposing sectarianism & bigotry. This video does the same,
11) Some things I won’t deny historically, I am angry about, that the Catholics where treated unfairly, there was very clear inequality. But any student of history would know that the protestant working class suffered the same, Sure Protestants stopped people working in the shipyard, some Catholics stopped Protestants working in the mills etc. A small minority kept us apart & played on our differences.
10)And please don’t be fooled to think all of those parents freely walked up that road to that school quite a few felt very compelled. And you can work that statement out for yourselves. I wont tell you what I observed at the police line. Should be obvious.
9)The girls of the Holy Cross had the right to go to their school in safety.
The Protestants & their children had the right to live in that area in safety.
But media being what it was focused on one pain and ignored another’s, And hey having the press on your side helps, But one thing for sure the protestors where in a bad situation, dammed if they did nothing (since despite dialogue of the years the attacks continued) and dammed if they continued. A Hobson choice as they saw it!
8)Some HOME TRUTHS to those who would twist what happened, those who would favour the pain & rights of one side without acknowledging the pain & rights of the other. Such is the way of our 2 communities.
7)In fairness, there where elements in protest that should not have taken place & where abusive, yes there where angry & yes lost loved ones & felt provoked but still was inexcusable it was a far cry from the quite dignified obstructive protest that was sought. People felt it should have been stopped because of that abuse but the necessity for safety & the right for the protestants people to not suffer the trauma of being attacked, kept the people there. Understandable if unpalatable to some.
6) I know, I would not have submitted my children to that possible trauma (which has turned out to be real). The protest was a message to say leave us alone and a cry for safety.
5) The protest was Never about denying the lawful & moral right of all children regardless of their faith to their right to education. In fact we never expected that the protest would last as long as it did but more importantly we NEVER expected the children to be herded through, after all knowing our country & the extremists on boths sides what parent would drag their children up through that potential.
4) And to quote one contributor that if you don't leave us alone you are not welcome to walk through our area to get to school which is understandable.
3)What is only known to those who where there is, , that "some" of these men who where part of those late night attacks, Also walked their children to the Holy Cross school, let us be clear these night-time attacks were not “recreational rioting” but were organised, I don’t care about being called a liar or the denials ..I know what I witnessed I remember the shouts of “we’ll burn you out of your houses”. I know what I saw & heard..so deny all you want
2) Being open & transparent sure there was minority of Protestants who started riots in Ardoyne, the area does have a painful history, but was not known is that there were elements within the Catholic community that had at times, been attacking Protestants, their homes & property. Nearly every other night during that summer, And the protestant community simply had enough of it.
1) I'll try to keep this short, there was right & wrong on both sides, and my reply will need to be broken up because there is not quick and easy answer to some of the bias I read here. So facts our the Protestant community in that area from a population standpoint are in the minority a few hundred people & is in decline, while the Catholic community number in their thousands & there is a serious housing shortage.
as a protestant im ashamed to see this but at the same time if the roles were reversed the taigs would have done the exact same thing ..this countries filled with hypocrites pointing the finger at someone for doing the exact same thing they would do ......but anyway they should have found an alternate rooute instead of walking through a loyalist area , do youse like us walking through your areas . prime example (garvaghy road) another eg of hypocracy ... FTP
Ur funny NOT........ We suffered more than what u did so dont even start....... And very funny dont know how I will suffer ifu dont even know me or know where I live GOOD ONE
Us protestant kids where just treated the same.... So dont be like ahhh poor them etc they r showin one side of the story etc..... I lived in the middle of this when it was happening and am still scared from it.......... soooooooo wise up really
And people like you (whether that be republican or unionist, loyalist or nationalist, protestant or catholic) are the cause of the whole problem. Take a good hard look at yourself and be ashamed.
Its sad children had to be caught up in the protest.
However I do believe the Protestant community was right in what they done. The Catholic community had been killing people in that area for years, the IRA were hunting down Protestants and shooting them in the head !! Protestant homes were under attack every night.
The local Protestant community simply had enough and said that if you don't leave us alone you are not welcome to walk through our area to get to school which I believe is right!
i wass disgusted with the whole lot of em the protesters for throwing bricks at kids and the parents for dragging there kids threw that to make a point.
it makes me laugh wen i think about dis how loyal wankers abused kids 4 going 2 skool. dose kids had a right 2 go 2 skool nd 4 fuck sake wat did dey do 2 ye, ha? walked 2 skool 2 try nd get an education but no, loyalist scumbags dont want catholics walking on a fucking road?? thay r just trying 2 get de royals attention, but do ye no wat, dey dont give a fuck 4 ulster loyalists. im not saying de ira r good, dey were good until 50 years ago. de north is a fucked up place, but this is retarded
im a prod and yet i still dnt agree with this. the ppl were innocent ppl just taking there kids to school and they didnt deserve this. there innocent civilans but if it was the ira it would be differnt but this isnt right, by this is my opinin
