  • Seagulls flocked in circles directly above my head and made nice chirps to me yesterday, 2/19/2012 and also today 2/20/2012 because is love jim. plus douglas

  • THE HAIR! The Hair will FOREVER live in the lore of the 80's!!

  • MTV is largely responsible for the rampant mediocrity in todays popular music. It's even foretold in the first ever video shown on MTV: The Buggles "Video Killed the Radio Star"

  • i will say it over and over and over.....i am SO happy i was a teenager in teh 80s.....no one will understand otherwise :) times were happy then

  • @tgnomechaser Said perfectly, unless you were there, there was no way you could have understood it.

  • Crank this to notch 10 going 100mph on the NJ Turnpike with the moon roof open

  • Gnarley!!!!

  • The 80's rule man.....

  • The one positive thing i can say about the way music is headed-- A good portion of it has taken a turn towards the 80s sound. Late 80s maybe, but 80s still

  • Thank god I grew up in the 80's just to be a part of this huge cultural phenomena.

  • HOW DID HE MAKE HIS HAIR THAT WAY :O

  • The amazing thing about this song is its sheer simplicity. There are only three chords, two verses - with extremely simple, almost inane lyrics - and a very basic chorus, but it's a song I can listen to over and over again. I think most people's comments about how this is so much better that what's out now is because of that; it's simple and honest and real; not glossed over with autotuning and brickwall compression in a lame attempt to hype up a product that inherently sucks.

  • dude the hair! C"MON MAN"!

  • Love it!!!

  • 1982

  • A flash back into the past

  • that hairstyle would replace all the shitty crappy reality shows ON MTV 2012

  • so this is where wolverine got his hairstyle! no wonder he was playing this in that truck when he met rogue and gave her a ride after getting kicked of that bar!

  • Lets start an online petition to pressure Viacom to do something about their so called MTV. I dont know how to start a petition though, Help!!!!

  • Im 43 now, and I remember growing up on this music. This sound is what brings back memories of FOS, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Animotion, The Go Gos and Men Without Hats. Going to those concerts, where you actually felt safe at the show, and didnt have to duck from gun fire. RAP and this garbage thats out there today should go the way of the dinosaur. We need to pressure Viacom to either pull MTV off the air, or rename it.

  • The music today is rap. Rap sucks. i wish people used real instruments and i wish people still wrote and played music like this. Bring back the good music, bring back music like this.

  • @crankyartist111 You're so right. It isn't even music. I don't know what it is, but it sure does suck.

  • Anybody else thinks the guitars in Coldplay's "every tear is a waterfall" sounds like the guitars here

  • swampert:)

  • To the youngsters who love what FOS did back in the day....I totally agree with you and think you're brilliant. Music ABSOLUTELY SUCKS TODAY, PERIOD....and if you love this, go and check out very early DEPECHE MODE and see what you think....peace

  • I saw FOS open for The Fixx, another great 80's band. The bass player has the definitive 80's headnshoulders dance move down. Amazing show!!

  • Seriously, WTF happened to music? With few exceptions it died in 1990.

  • @MaceMn Grunge and depressing 90s music killed the party era and left the door wide open for Rap to come in, The grunge crap was so horribly miserable, you just wanted to slit your wrists at a nirvana concert, lol I miss this music alot.

  • @Pumby0 I'm no expert but that sounds logical.

  • I do wish that MTV would play music, well, not the pseudo music that is on the radio to day. They would play crap like lady gaga and cool mofo rappers, which is not music. I wish someone would make a channel, that plays only 70s and 80s music. The 90s brought us rap and seattle suicide bands, which killed the greatest party decade ( 80s ), Today's so called music is terrible: HELPPPPPPPP US.

  • im SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy my dad told me about the 80's and 90's right now besides what else is there to listen to 2days music stinks .... literly!!!

  • this is from the time mtv was really music tv now is drama and some words that might offend

  • Double ditto on the two top comments! 80's music and MTV were awesome. It all went to shit.

  • Fucking great song!

  • old 80s are better than today this is real music too me i am 12 years old i still like todays music but i like the 80s more

  • i never get tired of flock of seagulls!!! they defined the music of the 80s,my favorite is the more you live the more you love

  • man im 41 but "living the dream" ....

  • Yesterday I watched Back to School and today I heard this song that I love in Kick Old Skool !!! We all know 80's will never comeback and it sucks because life was easier and at least you would ride your BMX with your friends and you didnt need a cell like today's kids to meet up... Poor them ! They missed a great era to be born in and God was it good to be outside with your pals ! Reagan at the White House and Back to the Future in theaters... Sighs !

  • @hectorlabbe The "Reagan in the White House" part was not good (I'm 42 myself)! I agree with everything else you say, though.

  • @danning1 LOL ! Not a problem, if you didnt agree with Ronnie ! We all know, that we have different views when it comes to politics & religion... ; ) I just discovered Wishing and The more you live, the more you love, awesome lyrics. This band was amazing !

  • yes, the best ever music was from the 80's

  • I'd forgotten about this song until they played it on Psych. I started crying and my kids couldn't figure out why. lol

  • oh to be young again in a better time when anything seemed possible

  • I still think lil Wayne is better

  • Lots of hair spray

  • they sound like U2 if U2 were actually cool ...

  • Not one of their gems! Hair do not happening! Loved those guys though!

  • The so-called second British invasion of the 1980s. There was nothing like it.

  • I wonder of Limahl from Kajagoogoo did his hair....

  • This band and their sound defines the 1980s. Today's music sucks, MTV sucks. We need to get a real music channel, to play real music, not the garbage they call music today.

  • @Pumby0

Check out SCUZZ TV they play real music.

  • @Pumby0 A TV channel for music? You do realize having one (MTV) was a big part of creating the "music" scene today, right? Today it's largely about image. If you want the music part to most important then you need to remove the image (TV channel, videos) part.

But you are wrong. There have been some pretty cool videos in recent times.

  • @erad67 no, you're wrong, the percentage of good videos/music from 1990 to nowdays is like searching for needle in a haystack, i maybe could understand you if i wasn't living in the 80s as a teenager, you just CAN'T compare those times to these, don't even try it...

  • @AORCrazy I lived in the 80's as a teenager as well. A lot of the '80s videos are pretty crap. (Videos, not music.) Looking back at the 80s and picking out 50, 100, 150 great songs/bands is cherry picking. There was a lot of bad bands then too. I like a lot of 80s songs & bands. I like a lot of 90s & later songs and bands too. Personally I hate rap & R&B, so I'm not fond of most top 40 pop songs & MTV fodder now. But I still find numerous current bands to be quite good.

  • one of the most underrated songs ever made!

  • I love this song, I wish I could have been in the 80s, these days you just don't get that good music anymore, i'm just a kid but I miss the 80s!

  • Bring back the 80's'? F yeah! Much rather be 17 again than a washed up 43 year old grump. Actually life is good, still rather be 17 again though.

  • The 80s music is something most of us will remember as great times, danceable beats, teenage crushes, and just fond memories that we can only go back to in our minds. Long live this decade of truly good music.

  • Awesome band..most of today's music is garbage rap

  • I will take the music of the 80s anyday, because today, there are no videos, atleast not any good ones. Bring back the 80s sound

  • swampert hairstyle

  • I should rock that hair style. Honey Badger don't give a shit

  • IT SEEMS THAT GAY-BASHING AND THE LIKE ARE, LIKE SO PASSE' ?!!

----obvious latent homosexual- when is the last time you heard anyone who is HIP say that 'old lady shit? really boys !!!???

who's callin' who gay? really...is this what post-MTV hath wrought??

PS...the 'th' in hath is not a lisp...so relax..

  • awesome, i never saw a gay playing the guitar like this

  • @becerj03 Stop projecting your (obvious) latent homosexuality on others. While Paul Reynolds (the guitarist who has more talent than you can dream of) is happily married with 2 kids, you clearly live in your parents' basement apartment and masturbate to gay porn on the internet. So who's the gay again?

  • @becerj03 .no...you just do not know how to spot one...i watched a trio of 'gay 'addicts kick the shit out of the 'hood' 'junkie' bully...it was wild...new year's eve 1970...

what is all this out dated gay garbage...you must be from nowhere, man...wake up...

  • This song reminds me of my first date in 2010, She was the best woman to have.I miss her...

  • Thank you very very much for sharing, these were the days, this was the true music, 80's for sure the best decade.

  • Im swaying back and forth poppin my fingers. Great song.

  • seeing how young they were there and now makes u feel kinda like saying...wtf happened

  • @narutojose2 ...'tis the middle-aged's mantra...i know it well...the 60's are long gone...sadly...a time of real change -on every front...

  • that cat was a good guitar player.

  • dragon ball z hair

  • That fucker needs to stop masterbating in his hand and wiping the cum on the top of his head!...thats all... then his hair problem will go away...the assclown!

  • @leonakita grow up

  • @tubbymunchkinOG truth hurts , Chubby!

  • @leonakita I'm pretty sure that he didn't put cum in his hair. Also before you make remarks like calling people fat you might want to see a picture of them so you don't embarrass yourself buddy. :) P.S I'm not fat. :P

  • @tubbymunchkinOG your name is 'tubby', capiche?

  • @leonakita yes but before you accuse someone of being fat you should probably se them because now you look like an ass :P

  • @tubbymunchkinOG once again, your screen name is 'tubbymunchkin', therefore you are most likely a lardass midget...this isnt rocket science EINSTEIN!

  • @leonakita but there you are wrong i was called this in 3rd grade by a fat Asian midget i am not a fat midget

  • @tubbymunchkinOG i realized that its not rocket science but i'm not fat :P

  • Teeel & A Flock Of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song (Gerard Remix)

  • @gerardopachon2008

    soundcloud

  • I remember this video in 82-83 on m-tv brings back memories of Rodeo Calif.

  • RIP Sym Bionic titan

  • Love this song....and "Wishing"....if you like this, check out Gary Numan's Ancients....great song....sadly though, I heard it was part of the Twilight trailer....sorry, awful movie!! :)

  • Terrific track, but that hair - Oh dear......

  • Goddamn this song rules!

  • i totally had my hair like this back in the day. then like robert smith. so much fun.

  • is reynolds ripping off the edge, or did the edge rip off reynolds?

  • @leescrivner1 reynolds is ripping of edge U2 had their first two albums before the seagulls had one

  • Pinto.

  • Is the guitarist from Devo?

  • @InCityDreamss No that's Paul Reynolds.

  • @NewWaveFan1 OK, thanks.

  • Maaybe the hair stylle represents a seagul the wings on the side and the beak going down on his forehead(:

  • i've been looking everywhere for this song

  • I remember my cousins coming over every weekend night and sleep over. We would watch MTV all night including this vid and many others of the days. Yup, I was the favorite cousin just cause we had MTV! Woop! :P

  • Im falling in love!

  • So edgy for the drummer to have normal hair.

  • There were time in the 80S when i had my hair like his. But mine was and still is longer in the back then his. Like totally!!!!!!!!!

  • okay GOD Bless the Score Brothers. I don't see ME on the silver screen!

  • I need..I must HAVE that HAIRCUT! NOW!

  • this might go for alarm ringtone

  • ERRATUM:..should read....It sounds brilliant to me....apologies

  • This is FANTASTIC!!!!....first time I have heard it....That guitar player is producing a really AWESOME FANTASTIC SOUND!!!!!....Brilliant....Going to listen to it again...think this will be a catchy tune for me....I wonder how well this actually did...I sound brilliant to me.

  • I can just picture the guy or gal that did the singers hair saying, "I know you hate it, but trust me..Years from now, People will still remember that hair.." And thanks to MTV and YouTube, we do.. Good songs too..

  • I remember with the aide of hair gel and hairspray trying to get my boyfriends hair to look just like this - it was cool - Fashion !! whats not to love about individuality !!

  • Mike's hairdo is the most unique in the world and he ROCKED IT!!

  • dawne czasy lezka sie w oku kreci -

  • the guitarline brings tears to my aging eye. beautiful, truly.

  • @MrBlairblack No kidding! If you were to look in on my iTunes library you'd see it's very guitar and bass heavy music.

  • ima do his hair on Halloween :P

  • Love this song!!! Love is awesome!

  • Mike Score had the absolute best new wave hair do ever!!

  • Yes! The hairdo Rocks!

  • The bass player is doing the Eddie Murphy 80s dance.

  • ahhh...back when we had this thing called music

  • LOVE

  • my girlfriend loves this song!

  • I used to like this one better than that other one

  • Best lyrics in music history!!!

    All 8 lines of them!

  • The nerd is actually a pretty cool guitarist. I hated 'em at the time but music has gotten so shitty that they sound great now.

  • Friggin sentimental guitar sound

  • just saw the Flock last nite in CT ... AWESOME show !!!

  • i really love tht guitar echo in the beginning, dreamy and imaginary. i love 80s music soooo much, and modern too!

  • I remember seeing them in concert in 1982, they opened up for The Go Go's and blew them away! No offense to The Go Go's, i love them dearly but at that time they literally had to be dragged to do a tour. It was September 1982 at the Timberwolf Amphitheater @ Kings Island. Thanks for the memory.

  • Love the bassist footsteps

  • jokes aside, I always loved these echoing guitars rifts, this is why I love the cure too, not to everyone taste I know

  • the hair... so epic, I can't stop staring

  • Who says his hair is bad? I think it served as a very original trend for the wave age of the 80's, besides which is weirder, his hair style or those today who have so much metal sticking out of them they look like a horrible science experiment involving a koosh ball. Awesome time...Awesome music.

  • @km80120you remember koosh balls what about wacky wall walkers lol

  • @km80120 And right now all the kids reading your comment are wondering what the hell a Koosh ball is! haha Damn, I forgot about those things!

  • @km80120 Alex Lifeson of Rush....yes, Rush...had a hairdo like this for their 1984

    Grace Under Pressure tour :)

  • OK, now the all important question is, did he walk around after the show with his hair like that?

  • It was shit like this that made drug experiences, at the time- very bizarre.

  • Hey, JC, we had to worry about nuclear war with the Soviet Union, Aids, and if Red Dawn the movie was really going to happen. But, it was a great time. The music was just awesome. Great movies and bad hair. But, there were so many awesome bands that still stand the test of time.

I love this song because I thought of this song every time I liked a girl.

  • I really wish I would have eben in my 20;s during the 80's. I was born in '84. Life was great, people were happy, movies were incredible. All people did was party and have a good time. Today. its all about how bad the economy is, unemployment through the roof, futures uncertain, a 10 year war that shows no signs of stopping for many years to come etc etc. 2011 is a pretty depressing time isn't it?

  • thier best song.

  • Bass player is doing the 80s dance

  • HOLY CRAP , I work at a grocery store, they play this song alot, I like the fantastic hook in it, didn't know song or artist, I remember I Ran by Flock of Seagulls they used a sinthesizer maybe it's the same band that did this song, so I check out their best of songs list, i'll play them on YouTube one by one to maybe find the song, I already heard I Ran, second song is this one, Space Age Love Song , BINGO, FOUND IT, FANTASTIC!

  • Paul Reynolds = god of Guitar

  • I grew up on this, then I recently came back to it realizing that this beats modern music by a long shot.

  • those where haircuts man!!!!

  • This is so awesome, i can't even describe

  • Everyone laughs at the hairdo, but in retrospect it has near infinite levels of awesome

  • @berserkley Yeah, and infinite levels of ballz out more futuristic than today.

  • @RandiSierra That's for sure

  • @berserkley i like his hair, i still in my 40's sport my devo pompadour! style!

  • @orlando0999 Cool! Sadly, I've had to go to a 50's era Wally Cleaver style look. what can you do?

  • @berserkley This is very true. I couldn't pull this off (not in the genes to have hair like that), but I would try it for at least one day if I could.

  • Flock of seagulls we had many happy days listening to your music . Ah those were the days.

  • I almost have his haircut, I just need a few more months :)

  • Buena.. rOla..

  • Miss this kind of music!

  • They Ruled.

  • oh god awesome <3

  • Draco malfoy on bass...............

  • I saw this group in 1983 when I was 'just' 17 years old. I stood about 2 feet from the stage and was half deaf when it was over with. Well worth it!! God, I miss these 80's bands . . .

  • GTA Vice city stories PSP WAVE103 STATION :D

  • The Lead Guitarist, Paul Renolds, Was 19 Years Old When This Video Was Made (The Summer Of 1982) Hes Was 17 When He Had His First Tryout With The Band, And Because Of His Stellar Talent Was Asked By The Band To Replace Guitarist "Jimmy Choo"....He Left The Band In 1985 Do To A Nervous Breakdown Along With Alcohol Addiction.....He Is Alive And Well Today, Recording Mostly Acoustic Guitar Music.....Too Bad, As He Is One Of The Best To Ever Shred The Strings on A Gibson Firebird VII

  • I RAN FOR MANY TIME WHEN I KNEW THIS STUFF ( I MISS THE 80´S)

  • A flock of Seagulls fun fact. their guitarist is only 16

  • @BeatleBoy1235 what now? lol

  • @BeatleBoy1235 Did you mean16 at that time?..because...

  • Vice city.

  • The bassist is putting little effort into this song, but overall as a band they kickass. That dudes haircut is like a trademark to the band without it this band would have been unheard of

  • The emo haircut before it was emo.
