I can't belive she called it "a great family movie". I'm not saying the movie's bad or anything.. it's an AMAZING movie ! But it's scary as shit ! I'm 18 years old and I got nightmares.
Its a creepy movie definitely not for little kids though. I started to watch it with one of my nieces, and she freaked out at the opening credits, the part where the Coraline doll was being made. So, I shut it off. I will never buy her a lalaloopsey doll. Those dolls are freaky as hell, with their button eyes.
@Sittingonacornflakee Don't worry,i was like 20-now i'm 21-when i watched this movie for the first time and it simply creeped the shit out of me as well.
I would not let a person who's less than 10 years to watch it.
I showed my little cousin " Nightmare before Christmas " when he was about five and he loved it but when I showed him a clip of " Corpse Bride" he was scared. I don't think young kids are always scared of movies like these I think it's up to the adults to make the decision if they like it let them watch it if they say after a minute Iam scared turn it off .. simple as that.
@neonuma101 my sister was 5 when she saw this movie and she loved so keep ur opionion to urself it was a great movie and its one of my top favorites so yeah
Little children don't fear anything most of the time. They learn to fear later by the standards we set for them. As a child you'd probably pick up a spider without even thinking about it ,later most people won't do it any more out of fear.
As a child I loved spooky things and stories. In the end it all depends on a child...
I fell in love with this movie, even before i actually saw it. I had researched and researched the upcoming Henry Selick film until my fingers hurt and my eyes coulnd't watch the trailer anymore. I even took a HUGE group of my friends to go see it opening night! Once i watched it, I fell completely in love with it and it sparked my obsession with buttons and dolls. Amazing movie! I even preordered the DVD!
I know, right? I was at my friend's house and her little brother and sister were watching it and I was about to be like "Um, should they really be watching this?" because in my opinion, it's pretty freaky as in a nightmare that would wake you up in the middle of the night kind of freaky. But I adore movies like this :)
It was how a 3D movie is supposed 2 b. It wasn't in every scene, and they didn't make it that way. It only came 3D about 5 times in the whole movie, but that was enough to make it awesome!

The only real problem with the movie, is the audience's reaction. That reaction, would be on the 'actress' who plays the Siren of the Sea. You know it's going to happen sometime in a child's life, seeing the outside of a woman's boob. But that was how it was supposed to be, to stress the kookiness and insanity of the film and characters personality. ;( And all the 'scary parts' Come on guys.. it's Tim freaking Burton. The god of creepy<3 Also why it's PG. ;) No one's to blame on their own views.
Actually, Tim Burton was not involved with this film at all. Many people mistake Burton as the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, but he was actually the producer. Henry Selick was the director. I can't even remember how many times I've had to tell this to people. It kinda makes me feel like an a-hole, but whatev.
The kids were really scared. Like they sounded very disturbed and said "I'm scaywred" at least 4 times and the dad was like "no you arn't" instead of removing the child. And there were kids crying at the scary parts.
My family and I laughed our asses off during the "Sirens of the Sea" part. There were some other people laughing in the theater, but you could mostly just hear some super uncomfortable parents clearing their throats.
I loved this movie. 3-D was intense. (Saw it like that twice.)
hehe have you ever seen 4D? its really cool they have it at dreamworld in australia and its like... say if sumone jumped in a puddle they would spray water into the audience, and if it was windy they would have rly big fans so u could feel it & all that sort of stuff its really cool
When I saw the audience reactions, I could have sworn that they were actors, like all those comercials... but I take that back now, cause this movie was insane!
It really shouldnt be targeted for 6 year olds. More like 10 year olds. Many kids in the theatre were screaming at the parts with the button eyed people.
