  • i was expecting better...

  • @goerigi I know right? I wasn't too happy with how it came out either, but I was trying to work with a deadline at the time.

  • @spk1983 i mean isnt wasnt bad or anything, just idk. there were a lot of fades. yeah it did feel a bit rushed haha :)

  • @goerigi I hear ya about the fades, I guess I don't generally like to use hard cuts much. Thanks for your input though, it's always appreciated!

  • Just a request; anyone who is attending Anime Boston, could you please record the showing of this video? I will very much like to see the crowd reaction to this. Thank you in advance.

  • @XxContestCharlie Thanks for enjoying it, the contest version to be aired at AB, is slightly different from this though - there are no live action scenes, otherwise it's just slightly tighter in editing compared to this.

  • waaaah I like ur work ! I was just talking to ur bro and he mentioned u did this !! can u teach me how to use some of the software i have ? onegai!!! i'm just self taught and i really would like to know how you do ur effects !! * pretty plz with coca -cola bubbles* lol

  • @kuronekochan1992 First off, thanks for liking my work, it's greatly appreciated.

Before I can help, are you using WMM for editing? Or are you using a more professional-level application (e.g. Vegas/Premiere)? As I mentioned, most of my techniques are VERY simple to implement, but you'll need higher-level apps to accomplish them (e.g. masking). Message me your answer, comments can only fit so much.

  • I'm loving your vids :D I also love how, like you said, you manipulate simple effects and dont pack your vids with all those unnecessary effects and such that dont add to the final product. I don't like using effects other than fading and stuff too (although being able to mask good would be sorta helpful >_<) annnd err...yeah, awesome vids! :D You definately deserved those first places :D

  • @ShionSonozaki2 Masking well is always a useful trick to employ, but I just don't have the patience to mask character animation sequences, so I prefer to mask for scenes with litte/no movement. If I knew how to use After Effects and similar apps, I'd do a lot more, but even then I'd likely only use them if they have a purpose.

  • @spk1983 I actually found something out that I didnt know until a few weeks ago, if you mask a frame and then cut out the transition and mask the next one it looks much more smooth, and also something found out is that you can change the velocity of a clip and make it stand still O.o Its still too much of a pain to do with this laptop mouse-substitute thing though v.v I've seen this one amv where the editor completely changed some of the scenes with masking to make them fit the song perfectly =o

  • @ShionSonozaki2 I employed the Velocity envelope for this video actually, e.g. @ 2:15, that freeze after the rapid sequence, is using Velocity, alongside masking, that's how Chihiro looks different from the background. Some things would be easier to do if I could use Photoshop, but it's not really my field.

  • @spk1983 lol I'm actually going to take a photoshop class for my jr. year next year to help with animating and such, but it'll probably also help with masking too since vegas' masking thing kinda sucks. and yeah I see =o little effects like that really add alot to the video XD its really hard to choose, but I think I might like this vid a little better than the "It Means Nothing..." one ^^; I think mostly since I like the song a little better, and I absolutely love Ef A tale of memories XD

  • wow your soo good at edting! :D i wish i could be that good!

  • @kakaline1312

Most of the techniques I use are pretty simple; it's just knowing how to manipulate them...and I kinda loathe effects-heavy videos for the most part, unless if the effects really adds to the video.

It's really more just spending time and playing around with settings. Just don't take it too hard when you feel like pulling your hair out or anything XD.

  • I love it!! Ive never heard the song before.. it kind of reminds me of a 1990's pop song though =D

You should have incorporated the music video footage a little more toward the end (in my opinion) but I love your transitions!! You certainly do a lot of experimenting with different effects

Thumbs up and fav'd of course!!

  • @Pozorrogo The style of song here is Reggae fusion, she's really good.

The main reason I didn't use more of the original video towards the end, is that the video itself is quite repetitive, so I didn't want to use too much of it.

    Thanks for the comments :D.
