Queen Latifah is an AMAZING jazz singer!! I loved her jazz album "Trav'lin' Light" !! and she has incredible range as a actress!! i remember her great roles in Chicago, Hairspray, The Secret Life of Bees, & that HBO tv movie "Life Support" & many other works! she has already won an Emmy, Golden Globe, Grammy, & she's been nominated for an Oscar! I hope she WINS an Oscar someday

Renée hadn't musical experience before "Chicago". CZJ had great musical experience. If you look at her from that point, you should understand, why Ms. Zellweger's job is brilliant. She had to learn almost __everything__ in 6 weeks. Besides Renée is not type of shining drugs'n'sex celebrity. I've watched and read many interviews with her and I noticed, that she prefers privacy and quietness. She's private person andyou should try understand her decision

To break it down, here is what Catherine has said in interviews: she had just given birth to her son Dylan when she started learning the song and dance numbers for Chicago. She filmed the movie, went on to film Intolerable Cruelty and found out she was pregnant with her daughter, Carys, while on the set. Fast forward a few months and she's performing at the Oscars while she's eight months pregnant.

As for Renee, I remember she said she wasn't performing because she had family in that week.
