My dad was close with sheriff Jim Botwell who got the confessions with other investigators from Lucas. He was sick. He talked in-depth about his murders and was precise about where they were. Who Lucas talks about in the tape was the woman he loved and ran with while committing murders with O'toole and killed out of hate for his mom

It was a combination of factors. Lucas believed that God visited him in his cell and told him to admit to all his crimes so as to give the victims and their families peace. He was drugged out and out of his mind for a lot of the killings so he didnt want to miss any responsibility. The DA was a moron and accepted all of Lucas' testimony no matter how flimsy. A lot of the murders Lucas gave exact testimony however. They would pose the bodies and leave items on them and he gave these details.

Other authorative articles on the internet and criminologists doubted from the beginning the claims of the pair. Check out the trutv website and the comments of Dr. Steven Egger, expert on serial murder; who claims "out of a two hours (in an interview with Toole) I think I got about 15 minutes of accurate information"

I'm glad you are interested enough to do a little reading, but you are arguing with someone who knew these guys personally and was involved in their criminal defense at one point. I grew up in Georgetown, Texas where Henry Lee was jailed and where his only unidentified victim, "orange socks" was found. Lucas killed an elderly woman there. My dad was close with sheriff Jim Botwell who got the confessions with other investigators from Lucas. He was sick. He talked in-depth about his murders and was precise about where they were. Who Lucas talks about in the tape was the woman he loved and ran with while committing murders with O'toole and killed out of hate for his mom

One documentary showed that when Lucas was being questioned by the task force the Rangers had him on high doses of Thorzene, an "institutional drug" given to inmates or mental patients to make them more manageable and cooperative.. It makes people do whatever is expected of them, which in this case meant confessing to whatever crime he was being questioned about.
When he stopped taking the thorzene he stopped confessing as well.

It was a combination of factors. Lucas believed that God visited him in his cell and told him to admit to all his crimes so as to give the victims and their families peace. He was drugged out and out of his mind for a lot of the killings so he didnt want to miss any responsibility. The DA was a moron and accepted all of Lucas' testimony no matter how flimsy. A lot of the murders Lucas gave exact testimony however. They would pose the bodies and leave items on them and he gave these details.

If you study this case you will see that they handed lucas information about each of the cases before he admitted to the crimes. He used that information to "prove" that he had committed the crimes.
