If you can afford the $60k, $70k, $80k and the rest, to build one of these things from scratch you aint gonna worry about the fuel prices. Besides, every turn of that blower is worth every dime.
the fuel of the future has to be ethanol it has a richer octane rating than gas and the best part u can make it in your back yard so the hot hot rod will never die and your hot rod can go even faster
Actually, ethanol contains less actual power (BTUs) then gasoline. My truck can run on ethanol and it actually has less power. And ethanol only exists because of government subsidies, it couldn't survive on its own, it's just not viable. Just drill for oil in your backyard.
That good old fuel of the future, ethanol, is here in several states now. It is depleting the corn normally used for food and driving up the cost of food using corn and corn products. Additionally, if ethanol was not stoutly subsidized by various state, federal and local money, it would cost twice what gas does. Plus, it cuts into the MPG you get! On Gas, our car gets 32 mpg. On 10% ethanol it gets 28. Ethanol is another pipe dream that will not save anyone anything.
ok but with my view of it its for race if you make e100 not e85 which is 100% alcohol which means more hp than gas, and you dont have to make it from corn no you make it from switch grass which puts out a bigger yield of ethanol than corn, and no it wont make your mpg go up but its better for your engine than gas, thanks to the impurities in gas it will gum up your engine after awhile while e100 will clean it out
Straight Alcohol is difficult to tune for as temperature and humidity change. I have no doubt that a fuel injected, computer managed engine could cope with it: If you are ready to add more cost to cars.. Alcohol is better for some engine parts, worse for others. The 15% gasoline in E-85 eases the tuning issues by stabilizing the alcohol. There are plenty of cars racing on 100% alcohol, but overall for street driven cars 100% gasoline is far superior.
my american friends.... do not complain of the price of petrol ... in italy petrol costs € 1.65 per liter about $ 2.3: crazy stuff :(

oldmusher-The alcohol fuel used in drag race cars is normally methanol or wood alcohol not a product made from corn

As long as you understand that ten years ago 2.00 a gallon gas seemed excessive. Art is never unsaleable
