They have had the idea and they made footage in 2007 and is released in 2011, thats how games should be made, unlike call of duty which make crappy games every year now, and they are rushed just for the money. Dont get me wrong I love call of duty and I have everyone of them, but the are really starting to get crappy. Games that are made for longer periods are usually better than the ones that are rushed. i believe the player will only be able to move around in the canyons, but i'm just assuming this. it would be cool to be able to scale slopes and find ups and downs, but i guess the canyons are just better looking corridors that suggest openness.

@bacanhunter The guy from Id said that the transport is mainly for getting across the wastelands, but you can use the buggys for racing in the cities, if you want to. Ergo if you don't want to, then you don't need/have to ever enter a race.

Its optional for the most part, you might have a couple of race missions to do, but they said that its secondary in this game. All I know is tha Im going to be doing alot of shooting, gambling and blowing up other vehicles.

THere is also vehicle combat. they said that the racing is somewhat of a side mission, you'd probably get the game either way. Anyways its racing comes behind FPS and vehicle combat in this game, so the races will more like a side mission maybe even a mini game like how they have 5 finger fillet, hologram dice, and black jack in this game.

I think that they said there will be only 2 storyline missions that you will have to race, so you can go through the whole game and only race twice. I'm sure there will be a lot of racing side missions so you can earn money and other stuff, but ID wanted Rage to be primarily a FPS game so if you don't like racing then you'll be fine.

@bacanhunter It does have races, but id never strayed far from their (legendary) FPS's and gameplay mechanics, so it more of a distraction if you're bored or want to earn some cash and/or upgrades for your vehicle and earn "racing certificates" so you can buy new paint jobs, suspension, etc.

PS: I prefer the "id Software" paint job.

@TcmgFall3n That because each dev uses the same tech cycle. So you will find games that are similar just because of that. Examples would be Duke Nukem 3D, The Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage and Blood. They all used the same tech and all came out at about the same time. Same with COD and MoH. Same with Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena. Do you see the connection. Similar tech. The new games coming out that are similar are Crysis2 and FEAR3. Both are coming out in March.

Honestly this looks really good, of course everything LOOKS good. I'm just hoping with all the years they put into this game they didn't forget to make it fun. Definitely looks a lot better than Borderlands, it actually looks like it's real instead of like a bad cartoon. Seriously, those graphics were shameful. To the point seeing post-apocalyptic scenes like this make me feel sick. Anyway, looks fun and I'll definitely play it on my PS3.

ID Software knows magic. ID is genious on making games and optimising. It's like looking at mona lisa while palying ID games. The graphics in rage is not really that spectacular in this video but the intresting part they have is the detail function they have, supertexture or what he called it. The character animations has it flaws, doesn't really look 100% solid with the enviroment, for example you can see the enemies float on the surface like if on skates, indicating it's a large scale engine.
