  • When will these geniuses realize that when you performed an undefined and meaningless operation like divide by zero, you can prove just about any identity you like in fantasy land.

  • @geeleegoat I think you're a little muddled with your tenses. But yes, it is an obvious trick - fun to show people without a maths background though :-)

    The irony is killing me. Let's look past the obvious grammatical atrophy we have both experienced, by our incessant use of electronic communication technology, and focus on the beauty and failings of that great tool of humanity...mathematics. Agreed?

    Hello:

    Which mathematical disciplines do you believe I was disparaging? Those most fascinating to me are Fractal Geometry, Set and Number Theory, but I think all disciplines are gloriously fascinating in their own realms and in their interconnections. Are you inferring that the math problem performed above is a discipline on to its own? If so, I'll stick to my original assessment that there is no fascination in it beyond its use as a teaching aid or to goad the gullible.

  • @geeleegoat its a game, math games are useful in getting adolescents to truly understand the subject, and to stimulate their creativity. this is what I mean when I say it should be respected / considered fascinating...

  • well this is very lame, abc mathematics is that division by the set of zeroes of the denominator is undefined. Here the set of zeroes is 2 so we can never divide by (x-2). this is why this is total BS.

  • We can state that anything to the power of zero will always equal 1, any given number^0 = 1, so working backwards, we can logicaly state that ^0rad1 = any given number. Now after much thinking and unnecessary government funding, top mathematicians can firmly state that numbers 1 and 2 are in fact "any given numbers". Therefore, we can definitively state that 1=2

  • I would if I could remember it! The track is one of a range that You Tube allow you "Audio swap" onto a track. I've had a hunt but can't find the details of the artist/track - sorry!
