Seeing all the pirating conv, I've been in bands for over 30 years and I say there's no such thing as bad publicity and if it's getting your music out there the cool. But if you're in a band big enough to not care about this type of exposure then you've obviously already got enough cash out of it so you don't fuckin need it!!
skream is a prick that let the fame go to his head and his music sounds like it made on a software from the 70s sound like a cat be slit open NUFF SAID ......
@M16TOM you said software from 70's? and he let the fame get to his head? are you that retarded. that's why he turned all the labels down to remain DEEP MEDI.... do you know deep medi? btw in 70's it was hardware not software. don't justify it by saying it's sarcasm. we all know you're a stupid prick now.
Also, because of piracy and the odds of me ever becoming relatively 'big' - big enough to be a producer full-time, I know they are very slim so I focus on my education more as I want to get into engineering and have music as a hobby and any money I make from my music I will appreciate a lot more. This is what I hate though, if you download a film illegally, you're a criminal, if you download a film legally for your computer but convert it to play on your phone, you're a criminal. Fucked up.
@FlexxArtist That's bullshit mate, it's just not as easy to make your money from your just tracks. Publishing tracks for people has always been and will continue to bring in heaps of money. If you want to do it, do it, the music industry is growing despite piracy, and is one of the only industry's to do so, it's never been better to start!
@totoro8666 I accept the there's always going to be piracy, but for someone like me who isn't particularly financially stable, making music for money is relatively hard as the software and the computer I use isn't up to scratch in order for me to make 'high quality' tunes with a polished sound like the pro's do. It really isn't as easy as you make it sound, I understand what you are saying but I'm pretty sure if it was that simple everyone would be doing it.
@FlexxArtist Yeah, your right on forking out for the initial software and hardware, that can take a hit on the wallet, but once your past that, it's still as easy as it's always been to get a job in the music industry. If your up for doing it, and it's what you want to do most, don't give up on it. I didn't and I'm still going strong :)
@FlexxArtist So get the high quality software for free, then if you are successful enough to afford it buy it. If not then no one will hold a grudge for experimenting with the software. If this software is required to make polished tunes, then its wrong that polished songs can only be made by those with money
About the piracy thing, I am a new 18 year old producer from the UK, and I make drum and bass, dubstep, dub, garage, 2 step etc and I make my music fully aware of piracy. Its just the way it is and I accept it, in a way its annoying because hardly anyone will go out to buy my music as they use the youtube2mp3 converter, but then again I make music for the people first, the money comes afterwards. Its only the greedy cunts who get affected by piracy as artists get most money from live shows.
maybe thoes who are music lovers are less fortunate then you and can't afford 1$ per song but maybe you can, maybe you would rather get 10 songs for free and buy a gram of weed since almost nothing in this world is free why not take what you can? i just don't know what you are about people u have never met and will never meet even if you do you won't grow a strong relationship with them enough to care i think you are just trolling cuz u'z a twoll ur mother happy she raise a troll?
edm tunes are close to $1. and you can buy them individually, or buy the eps/albums as a whole at discount. to lump all edm musicians into the salary bracket of major label and mainstream artists is a fallacy. If you can't afford $1 or so for a tune, you should reconsider your job.
@blitzed6591 exspecially when most albums i listen to by any artist i only reallllly like half the album. the other half would just be like spending money for nothing
@AnbusKi I agree, the only people with music worth pirating are the people that love the music they make, so they aren't going to stop doing it, are they?

@debtwck Alright lets be real here! Pirating has been and will always be around artist make a good chunk of their cash from shows.
Bottomline:The only people hurt by piracy are those whose jobs were pointless to begin with.
