@Earych Unfortunately the 'James Bond' of today is a thug. A far cry from the witty, gentlemanly manner of Roger Moore. I am 19, watched my first James Bond when I was about 10. See them all many time but love the Roger Moore ones.
This was when it was OK and classy to have beautiful naked chicks floating across the screen. Now, douchebags like Fats Limpo and Bill O'Reilly get involved and you can't have greatness like this anymore
Someday I expect to see a Bond anniversary concert like they have done for Les Mis. There are so many Bond songs and many like this deserve a rerelease.
one of the highest with spy who loved me as a bond theme, though forgotten by the marks of today... check videos in future, ill add something on this..
@frost122585 and you know it's bad when someone that became a Bond fan in the '00s watches the old ones and likes those songs better than the new ones of his time. Don't worry, it's not the nostalgia talking. These songs really were good
@osaji922 True. This is one of the better, one of the most unappreciated, Bond themes. Incredibly, it finished last in a recent ranking (But of course one has too grant the newer songs favour...). My pick, actually, for the best Bond movie is this: "Octopussy". My favorite of the Connery's was either "Goldfinger", or "You Only Live Twice"... I thought Roger, though, generally did do the better movies. His first was sort of a misfire, as was his last, but the other 5 were strong entries.
i can't judge with any accuracy whether we've improved since the 80's (i wasn't actually alive) but the bond films and theme songs have certainly gone downhill!
This is my one of my favourite bond songs, roger moore's movies had the best music and they were better films, ive just done a bond list of my favourite music in order check it out tell me what you think!
Nude presentation of 007 girls are encouraged..too little showing of Kristina and Maud Adams nude body..can be improved further. Both girls are beautiful. Bond should be in tuxedo but the girls must be totally nude..no underwear pls.
When I was a kid, I heard this song well before I was allowed to go to a James Bond movie on the radio and loved it. When I finally saw "Octopussy" and discovered this song was the opening theme (no hint from the title you see), I was very pleased that my favorite song and what was becoming my favorite movie series had come together here. Honestly, doesn't have the feel of a James Bond song (I compare it to "All the Time in the World" on OHMSS as a secondary love theme) But love it anyway.
How times have changed since the 80s and not always for the better. The 80s were certainly more carefree, as people weren't yet the jaded miserable wretches they are today.
I've always liked the theme songs for Bond movies, including this one.
@InfernalDescent carefree apart from fear of anialation from nuclear war . There are many more miserable people around for culturally good reason about five thousand miles across the atlantic than where you are including those who are the haves with nothing to look forward too and so behave very badly . But not on harry potter , dr who or how other ways its marketed
@Sarcasticscum you don't have to have lived in that time to like it's music better. todays music is just a sad joke. not only stuff like death meal, but also todays pop/rock. oh god music was just so much better back then.
What? Those days were GREAT! I just had gotten a '81 Mercedes 450 SL when this movie came out, and my first drive-in, with my future-wife, was to watch this movie in that car. Myrtle Beach is a little different now (the drive-in is looong gone, unfortunately).. Stop commenting! You're making me reminisce about the better days!!
one of my all time favorite life affirming inspirational songs . Strange place to find such a song on a intro to james bond .Dont see where the theme song ties into the movie much
Listening to this song always brings back great memories from when I was going to college, living in Myrtle Beach back in the early 1980s... Oh how I wish I could go back!!!! :(
@Sarcasticscum I know exactly what you mean. I'm extremely nostalgic about the late 70s and early 80s--John trying to keep Ponch in line, J.R. getting shot, Square Pegs, Night Flight on the weekends, and so on. You know, back then I don't think I realized how fast those times would go by--now they seem like a million years ago. I don't hear this song often, but when I do, it really gets me chasing the past all over again.
@CaptainBuckRogers for me the james bond movies from the eighties became more comedy than real action films. but the soundtrack always great. and roger moore was the smartest bond of all
Are you an American? Sorry but I am not. Maybe your statistics in a U.S. Statistics. Thanks but no thanks for a very negative reply. I personally knows no women in our community that is a victim of Domestic Violence, contracted an STD, being raped and or left to raise children without a husband. Like what you said: "... I guess the consciousness of Society has gone BACKWARD." It may be just your opinion Sir. You may be wrong!
That should be the case. I'm glad that that kind of consciousness is now made its way through popular media. I am a young woman of the 21st century and I feel I am luckier than women a generation ago. My mom was my age in the early 80's and this was not even thought of in the larger scale as it is now.
I love this song too. Not because it was a OST of James Bond movie but because of its music and lyrics. I play it every time I have the chance. Thanks for posting it in its clear, crisp version. I hope there are more to come.
Ahhh....7 years old at the drive-in with the family....probably after watching Airplane! or something to make us laugh. Love James Bond (grew up with R. Moore).
Thanks for uploading this video...really warm memories for me.
I love Nobody Does It Better but All time high is my favourite James Bond song and one of the most underrated of all the James Bond songs. All Time High is a very sexy and touching romantic song and Rita sung this song with such passion and meaning and it's such a sad shame this song was not a big hit in theUK charts should of done better.
I feel that the theme song misses a trick here. It should have included the word `octopussy'. For example `I feel kinda woosy when I stroke your octopussy'
I think this Bond movie had a very good theme, and a believable plot.
