  • I really like this, it's not all flashy or trying too hard. Just good ole' dancin'. Nice.

  • fantastic all around. And to chime in on terrible comment regarding "ballet crap"- any dancer going pro or seriously dancing on stage should have some ballet training. The top Egyptian dancers have ballet backgrounds (Samia, Suhair, Tito, Randa, Diana, Raqia, etc.) Keep on Athena!! I hope to see you perform live in NYC!

  • A lovely performance Anthena.

  • btw, this performance is very nice to watch- what ballet crap is the loon talking about???

  • Athena! I am a performer and teacher, this is one of my most viewed videos, you are so creative and genuine you are !..a daughter of Tespsachore! Poli Aurea!!!!

  • bravo sou athena eisai uperoxh..antzela

  • Athena my love you were fantastic, and as always a classy lady on that response, I agree with you 100% I am trained in Cassical Ballet, when I read the post bellow before I saw the video I thought there were gonna be some Balances and pas de valses and other Ballet ingredients often added to Bellydance, in my opinion it was strictly pure Egyptian Classical Cabaret what you did, with that beautiful twist that only you can add!!!

  • jeez. BALLET and BELLY DANCE are not the same thing. i hate when ballet dancers switch over to middle eastern and forget to leave their ballet crap at the door. its so obvious. like brittney spears trying to sing opera or the wicked witch trying to be a stripper.

  • KatrinaVICIOUS....your chosen name is quite appropriate. YOur comment was not exactly constructive but harsh. Though, I take no offense at all. I'm not sure if you are commenting on this video or a video where I intentionally fused the two VERY DIFFERENT techniques of dance. Here I am performing in Cairo to a traditional band and had no intention of fusing ballet stylization in my Oriental dance performance.

  • I believe, as many dancers of MANY different forms of dance, that "ballet crap" is a good foundation for any movement training. Helping with balance, stamina, coordination, and grace. For any dancer, of any form. it is never to late to egage in core muscle traing which can be studied through MANY techniques (one being ballet, others being yoga, pilates...)

  • For the record. I am not a ballet dancer trying to do bellydance. I am a bellydancer...and I enjoy deeply the richness and diversity in the many both traditional, classical and ever- evolving forms of oriental dance which provide me the inspiration and freedom to explore the many faces of dance and music...

  • don't get so mad. that ballet crap you speak of may not be so bad after all. i understand what you mean, because sometimes you see dancers without that gut feeling , but perfect lines, but remember, ballet brings posture and grace in a way that "home" dancers lack severely. i'd rather teach a classically trained ballet dancer with some skills in counting and posture than the home dancers i get who think bellydancing is all about feelign and nothing about skill.
