@221Dw Well no, the price of the materials is incredibly cheap, but offcourse shipping and other stuff is quite pricy on the other hand. BUT, while they dont have that in online merchandising like steam and stuff, steam needs programmers, security insurance and all those things, so it kinda balances out. but it explains the sometimes rediciously big deals and stuff on steam, like packs of games and small indie games.
I find it funny that TB looks down on those who only do let's play content, while forgetting (quite in his favor one might say) that there are alot of viewers who like the game play without the production, that don't have some polished up lines, video, & perfect runs. Yes content that takes work and talent is great, no real doubt about that, but if I watch someone play a game, I want to watch them play the game not have a edited version that's some ego polish or self image booster crap.

I'm not forgetting those who like to 'pirate' games. I've actually grown to dislike pirating honestly, though I believe cracking the games will always need to happen. (it shows DRM is the cause and symptom of pirating {yes there are other reasons})
Though with all honesty I would love to see piracy go away, and people buy the games, but I'd rather have digital pirates over physical store break ins & physical theft which is far worse, for more people then digital piracy.

That would depend on what they are going for, but you are right in that manner. Every person who does content will do it best in one certain way. That could be scripted, produced, & edited to be polished (to some degree) or commentary over game play on alot of content, but what can't be said is one style is better then the other.

I believe the first guy didn't really answer the question of refunds directly but you can follow his words to see what he's trying to say. Basically, the working relationship between steam and the publisher is affected by refunds (steam obviously not wanting to have to give back money) and people are less likely to refund their games if they're getting support for their issues rather than being left in the dark.

I feel like by youtube community, a better fitting definition would be your viewers. We are people who enjoy your content and support you. We interact with each other via your videos to us and through the comments section. Sure its no forum or server, but we're a fairly like minded bunch (in terms of your content) and this constitutes a sub community amongst a much larger community of uploaders. Sure, you may not care about other uploaders, but its no less a community than GE claims to be.

The YouTube ''community'' is like planet earth. Divided into groups; some smaller, some larger; yet they all have something in common. You can be part of multiple groups, but never of conflicting ones. For example, you couldn't be a Nazi and a Jew, or a furry and someone that hates furries at the same time. I still don't understand what you have against LPs. There are a few LPers I love because they're hilarious and interesting to watch. You watch an LP for the person; you watch a walkthrough for the game. If one of my favorite LPers uploads generic videos, that's fine because they're generic videos I have decided I like more than the other generic videos.
for the gaming youtube partners there MAY not be a community but for the other partners that make comedies or music or whatever there definitively is. you've seen how most people in the top 20 sub list hangout with each other and co-lab with each other and so on . you shouldn't be so broad in your statements by saying "there is no YouTube community".

TB, you tube has many different communities, the COD, FIFA, BF, Minecraft, ect. Even though they are in competition with each other many of the "big you-tubers" are quite often friendly with each other, e.g you and the yogscast, Nepenthez, Barcaboy and the FIFA crew, quantic media and machinima, and a small band of Vech'z super hostile map players often interact and are friendly with each other, but I do agree that it does all boil down to buissness.

Its one thing with a few bugs. But releasing a Game without testing the other 50% of GPU users is damn stupid or a game which does not support Dual-Threading these are all rudimentary things that should be on a publishers to test list, if they are stupid enough not to test these things then we should have the ability to get our money back or give the community the tool-kit it needs to fix these issues like with oblivion and the Unofficial patch which fixed 1500 bugs or something.
Well TB does actually put out quality content, alot better video quality and audio than most game channels. And the mailbox and WTF is somethinge refreshing in all the lets play stuff, and most of them play the same game. Like Skyrim, it is an amazing game, but why would i watch anyone else play it?

I'm quite sure that since steam is selling to another country, quite sure I saw something about a dude from the UK get a refund from a game that wasn't up to his standards since it is in the UK's law that you can refund things, if you do it in a certain amount of days. Actually it's not. There are those who just spam content, and talk while they play a game and without scripts or planing (on what they are going to say/do in game) and in general TB has the foolhearted notion to group that in with those who are just in it (only) for the money. I agree that polished, scripted, & videos that fall into more of a 'traditional' prodution (scripts, review, editing, retakes, etc) can be great[& take longer], but to class one better the the other is retarded.

To claim that someone who does 6 different games with 1-3 episodes daily to every other day is lazy, is only showing how stupid you are. That's not only the time to play and keep talking without scripts which not everyone can do, that's also rendering time and making sure videos meet video quality settings (and aren't fudged up with all sorts of encode errors).-

This isn't to mention, that they have to be able and produce content for more then one type of taste in games. Though, the ones that make it, know fully well that not everyone watches everything they do and that's fine because you'll only watch the games you like to watch, which is the entire point to alot of LP creators. They are trying to not be stuck in one game type or one project at any time.
Yes there are lazy LPing, and bad creators, but to group them all up is retarded.

That would depend on what they are going for, but you are right in that manner. Every person who does content will do it best in one certain way. That could be scripted, produced, & edited to be polished (to some degree) or commentary over game play on alot of content, but what can't be said is one style is better then the other.
This is in the realm of video game videos, and honestly alot of times, scripted & edited produced videos ruin the videos & entertainment.

I believe the first guy didn't really answer the question of refunds directly but you can follow his words to see what he's trying to say. Basically, the working relationship between steam and the publisher is affected by refunds (steam obviously not wanting to have to give back money) and people are less likely to refund their games if they're getting support for their issues rather than being left in the dark.
At least, that's what I got from it.

I feel like by youtube community, a better fitting definition would be your viewers. We are people who enjoy your content and support you. We interact with each other via your videos to us and through the comments section. Sure its no forum or server, but we're a fairly like minded bunch (in terms of your content) and this constitutes a sub community amongst a much larger community of uploaders. Sure, you may not care about other uploaders, but its no less a community than GE claims to be.

I mean just look at Sword of The Stars 2, it STILL is sold as a finished game on Steam, with NO indication what so ever of it's incredibly tech-demo'ish state.. Even a week after the release it was still being sold.
That is completely unacceptable too. Steam does have a responsibility to its customers and its own good PR status, to clearly mark on the product page if a product IS 90% unplayable or broken.
It's not Steams fault, it is the developers fault, and it should be revealed as such.

Put a fucking big red warning text on the product page. Yes Steam would lose sales, but they would also gain a massive positive PR boost and the devs/publishers of the game itself would get all the blame, as they rightfully deserve.
Perhaps it would at least be a very small signal to developers around the world that, if you try to sneak something broken under the radar, you get consequences.

TB, you tube has many different communities, the COD, FIFA, BF, Minecraft, ect. Even though they are in competition with each other many of the "big you-tubers" are quite often friendly with each other, e.g you and the yogscast, Nepenthez, Barcaboy and the FIFA crew, quantic media and machinima, and a small band of Vech'z super hostile map players often interact and are friendly with each other, but I do agree that it does all boil down to buissness.

But releasing a Game without testing the other 50% of GPU users is damn stupid or a game which does not support Dual-Threading these are all rudimentary things that should be on a publishers to test list, if they are stupid enough not to test these things then we should have the ability to get our money back or give the community the tool-kit it needs to fix these issues like with oblivion and the Unofficial patch which fixed 1500 bugs or something.

Well TB does actually put out quality content, alot better video quality and audio than most game channels. And the mailbox and WTF is somethinge refreshing in all the lets play stuff, and most of them play the same game. Like Skyrim, it is an amazing game, but why would i watch anyone else play it?

However, I think you still actually care about games, gaming as a hobby and the future of it all. I think you have got the passion you mentioned. I'm quite sure that since steam is selling to another country, quite sure I saw something about a dude from the UK get a refund from a game that wasn't up to his standards since it is in the UK's law that you can refund things, if you do it in a certain amount of days. (this was a game bought from steam).
