  • This is for sale in Green power science web page right?? I need this for my thesis :)

  • would have been nice to hear an explaination instead of banjo music. reading subtitles and watching a vid at the same time is a pain. but i do like some of your vids. just not this one. can't please everyone all the time can you? hahaha...

  • Ideal to charge Turingy LiPo 6s 22v =)

  • Now all we need is a large scale nuclear version to defeat the purpose of green power.

  • How did i get here?

  • Did you guys ever realize that any energy we capture from the sun is energy that was supposed to be reflected back out into space. Sometimes we think green and go brown. Harnessing any energy from the sun captures the heat and traps it in our atmosphere.

  • @dsulkar1 not true, the suns energy can be absorbed and made in to electricity which does not create heat when being stored... so it doesnt just get trapped

  • @dsulkar1 but once we use that energy that heat is released back

  • Music fantastic thanks.

  • need better music

  • love the hillbilly music, nice video!!!...heha!!!

  • hillbilly music heha

  • woowww amazing

    u are smart

    wwoo increible

    eres bien inteligente

  • Neah... You're just bragging with your nice backyard and local weather.

    Heh...

    Just kidding ;)

    Nicely done!

  • too bad when you use solar energy you block the sunlight from reaching the ground killing plants... real green...

  • @electrohacker

    Think deserts and rooftops.

  • @Moggeth desert life is still life, what if your solar panel is preventing the one seed in the desert from finding underground water and crowing into a lush oasis

  • @electrohacker There's a lot of sand in deserts.

  • @Moggeth DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... try reading what I said, it doesnt matter how much sand there is

  • @electrohacker Natural oasis' are too rare.

  • @Moggeth but that wasnt the point of the argument, it was just an example

  • I love banjo music !

  • what do you do as the sun moves?

  • Solar/Wind/GeoThermo are green but Expensive !

  • Any chance of a video without any music?

  • hillbilly science.

  • ___ w w w diymagneticmotor com ___ FREE energy Guide___

  • with a bigger engine can get more voltage. I am student of electronics keep it in mind

  • 1:08 epic music fail

  • could have done with out the music

  • very good video and nice hillbilly music :D

  • VERY GOOD!

  • nice song :)

  • worst music ever.

  • Sorry boss, I can't come to work today, clouds and rain keep my cars engine from working...

  • Awesome video working...

  • Does banjo music always play when it's running? Or does that cost extra?

  • cool! do you ever think about overunity?

  • So you've got generator which uses 5 square foot large lens and will stop as soon as you put some noticeable load on it (if not, prove me wrong by uploading a video). Very useful…

  • A fire will do when the sun is not available. By placing a drain hole in the center of my parabolic dish I can simply set it on top of a rain barrel to harvest any rain. I have seen a couple videos of 4 cycles being used as wood fired boiler generators. Will I get enough steam pressure from the coiled copper to operate my 4 cycle generator.

  • Thank you, I am in the process of making my first steam engine from an old 5 hp Briggs & Straton generator. My source water will be 5 gallon glass bottles elevated above the focal point point of my parabolic dish. At the focal point I plan on coiling copper pipe into about a 18" dia. & suspend it from a campfire tripod. The copper pipe will continue onto the old Briggs & Straton. The exhausted water will be collected into a 5 gallon bottle to become source water again. A fire will do when...

  • Clouds and rain ended the test, which in a nutshell, is the whole problem with "green" energy.

  • Jolly well done. :-)

  • What song is it at the begin ? haha wanna know pls!

  • hill bill power lol jk

  • that is sloww

  • there is about 1,000 watts of power in a square yard of sunlight, the best solar cells can give you 41 percent of that. 6 watts is less than 1 percent of that. So it's not a good idea to try to power anything with that much energy loss.

  • Squirt water directly into the heat chamber & exhaust it on the upstroke. Will flash steam the water mist. Water explodes into steam, drives piston forward, uncovering exhaust hole, chamber pressure equalizes, piston comes back down, another burst of water mist, &.the cycle repeats.

An ICE motor that runs on sunlight & water.

  • i just have to know the name of the song xD

    awsome

  • Is there anything made in the world that is off the shelf and can recharge a bank of batteries

  • That's beautiful man! When I first discovered the Sterling/Fresnell set-up a couple years ago it blew me away.... everytime I see a projection screen TV in the free column on craigslist I tell myself "one of these days I'm gonna go collect a bunch of them and build my own."

I want to work on rigging the lens up on a dual-axis mount to hopefully follow the sun each day... even tho' I have seen videos on Sterlings or as some refer to as Sterlin engines (after the original Mr. Sterlin)

  • I am still amazed!

  • Comment removed

  • MAN!!! don't you have a tripod?

  • DOG GONE RAIN! I JUST LEFT THE ALFA STIRLING ENGUNE 100 WATTS VIDEO. PROFESSOR KENNY WAS IMPRESSED. HOW MUCH POWER WOULD THE ALFA STIRLING ENGINE MAKE WITH A SMALL AXIAL FLUX.?

    MUDDy

  • what is the largest generator you actually connected that engine to?

  • Hi Dan. I havent been able to get in contact with you. Ive PM'd you and sent you an email through your website. Its of high importance so please get back to me if you can.

  • Clouds and rain? Again? Dam move to Arizona! you would get 4 X the work done. This is great ! PLEASE git er done!

  • can anyone tell me the name of the music ???

  • There currently are commercial gas or wood pellets burning central heatings using their exhaust gases to heat sterling motors that generate electricity very efficiently and they produce no more sound or vibration than ordinary central heaters. How come all the stirling motors I see are noisy and hardly ever capable of generating more than 50W of electricity?

  • Ok so basically the sterling engine is a heat exchanger with pistons. Could one be used as the heat exchanger for a household furnace? You could generate electricity every time you heat your house.

  • in theory sure, but then you'd be converting that heat into electricity... thus your house would be cold, requiring more heat that will be converted to electricity... see the problem? The reason this works is because the heat source (focused solar) is "free."

  • so the motor drives the stirling and the lens keeps the rain off the motor and stirling...

  • you should consentrate on things that do not use things that you can not control wind sun.. there are better things that are not effected with those problems and wasted time. best of luck to you

  • you,v never been in gulf one day? we see this cloud one day per year , this invention is briliant and not time westing

  • Awesome. First compact practical application for a Stirling I've seen.

  • What's the trad-off with a Stirling? You can get high power but low torque or something?

  • where can I buy this one ?

  • @QiuIroX Check our website for links.

  • that great big lense only gives you 6 watts? you should be able to pull damn near 100 watts off of something that big.

  • @creamyfilling102 with this set up, a better generator better power.

  • the whole available power to that lens is about 100w, you have lens efficiency which is probably 90% and you have engine efficiency which if your lucky is 10% and you have the generator efficiency which if your lucky is 50% so the total is 100*0.9*0.1*0.5=4.5 watts very close to what your getting , you need to improve two things. engine efficiency and the generator efficiency

  • @creamyfilling102

I would imaging that you have to account for energy loss. as the heat channel of the engine heats up. that heat radiates from it, resulting in a loss of energy. currently I don't think there is a way to completely capture all of the heat in objects to keep it from escaping.

  • @enlil06 if you have very big temperature difference you will capture alot of heat through the heat exchangers because heat transfer rate is proportional to the temperature difference. but you will always have losses. you can minimize losses by using better heat conducting fluid than air and by radiating the heat directly inside the chamber and capturing it with a selective surface.

  • @creamyfilling102 the whole available power to that lens is 100w, you have lens efficiency which is probably 90% and you have engine efficiency which if your lucky is 10% and you have the generator efficiency which if your lucky is 50% so the total is 100*0.9*0.1*0.5=4.5 watts

  • @creamyfilling102

It's a fresnel screen not a lens. You'd get better results from a proper focusing lens.

  • yeah but considered by the square meters used for the lens solar cells are way more effective

  • Sir , Have you looked in to Gingery Tech. manuals? it tells you the Right way to build any and all of this!

  • put load on it and it wound produce that much voltage.

  • voltage doesn't matter power is what matters , he said 6.5 watts thats okay

  • Cool

  • wooo, cowboy music

  • awesome thanks mark tahiliani

  • Nice pickin Dan,

LOL Good video, Nice engineering on the mount.

    Muddy

  • Too genious, I tell you, too genious

  • The gear makes the difference. It is low amps but still neat. Saves from all the belts and pulleys.

  • can you send me plans on how you make it or what website

  • @luc59457 its not about the voltage man, you must look at the power... multiple the open circuit voltage by the open circuit amperes. with a drill that strong you'll be getting high powers but the winding is designed for 12 volts so voltage will not rise significantly

  • You are using a high temperature Stirling engine. A low temperature difference Stirling engine, say 5 degrees, may work in over cast conditions. (There are videos of small hand held ones on You Tubs.)

The Fresnel lens would have to be replaced by a hot box of the same size. I suspect you would have to build everything your self.

  • 4 stars for science -1 stars for banjo music ;)

  • The music is awesome!

  • Great video, I just searched Wikipedia and figured out what you're doing!

  • Seems like that Florida weather is a problem in just about every one of your experiments.

That may mean it's time for WINDPOWER experiments, rather than solar! Just an idea.

But whatever you decide, please put denise in more of these videos, she's just too cute to stay off screen.

  • If we had a contest where we could use, say, a spacer of 2x2x2 metres in the open field, how would be use it to gather energy from nature? Sun is hardly ever, so we could place wind mills right above the solar units Wind mills have a small surface anyway. Mirrors everywhere possible to get more light into our 2x2x2 metre box and solar panels.

Surface space is our limiter. We need stuff to put on roofs, which don't make noise and don't take much maintenance.

  • Dan,,, Where can i find that sterling Engine? its not on your web Site.

  • click on the link below more info, I just added it.

    Dan

  • @ZmuFFinMan

This is the internet. I would think you have to spell Stirling the proper way to find it in searches.

  • This is awesome! I love watching your stuff!!!

  • Well done, great start. Darn clouds!

  • like the music but would have liked you explaining what I was watching

  • Watch his vids on sterling motors and fresnel lenses and you'll understand what he's doing.

That being said, I wonder if he has playlists set up on his page to link all related information together.

  • Also remember your losing a lot of energy going through that gearhead. You would be better off getting a small alternator and regulating the field current.

  • I'm just curious, how do you measure the power produces without a load? Open circuit, or short circuit is not a valid method for measuring power.

  • Correct; power is 0W with open-circuit (I=0) and 0W with short-circuit (E=0) conditions. You can estimate power, however, by plotting an I-V curve for the generator set under various load conditions; power ought to be maximum when V=1/2 Vmax (for the exact same reasons why power transfer is maximized when circuit impedances are matched).

  • wow, you guys do the some cool video's *****

  • Good job! - Contrary to opinion, I thought your choice of background music was appropriate for the video, which was very well done! I always learn little tid-bits when I watch your films.

Also, do more on the air-engine IF you have time or inclination to do so.

    u2btchr - Jim

  • You should try a magnetized piston coated in ferrofluid to see if the cylinder's seal is improved.

  • liz4eva12 shut your whore mouth... I don't see a video response from you.

  • I would personally like to see less with these lenses unless you can show us a DIY solution for solar tracking. While this is interesting, it would be impractical to have to readjust the lens all day in order to generate useful power.

That being said, solar panels, solar hot water heaters, stirling engines and Peltier coolers are certainly worth doing more on..

  • I was just wondering about that myself... I wonder if there's a way to use mirrors

  • nice update, keep it up!

  • If you're having a drought, set up a solar power experiment.

    Clouds and rain almost guaranteed....

  • And if it's too windy, set up a wind power experiment!

  • @ROBwithaB I tell you a better way.. just ask me to build a house of the footing type where you have to dig those holes for the footing pads. I did this and we got the wettest season in 200 years or something.... my holes collapsed and i had to do all the excavator work by hand a couple of times.... lol

  • Well i don't know what they really did. Please whatever is it tell.

  • Sweet vid, Dan. Thanks for posting it.

  • terrific!

  • The simplicity of the Stirling engine is just a thing of beauty, thanks for sharing with us.

  • If you had a clear sky, how long can the fresnel lens heat the engine before you need to reposition?

  • It needs to be move about every 10 minutes.

  • Great video Dan 5*

    Greets from the Netherlands, iT

  • Thank you:-)

  • my pc & screen together suck 1200w. both are on 5amp fuses.

i usually get moderate north European sun(overcast) & moderate wind.

how would a generate that in a cost effective way?

  • For overcast days regular PV photovoltaic are good options. For now 1200 watts would be pricey, but you can buy 175 watts of cells off Ebay for about 200 bucks if you do not mind doing some work. Search "Tabbed Solar Cells" also watch this video:-)

    watch?v=5Zy3ELxwdtE

  • yea, it was the cost that looked the difficult side of it, i looked at a vawt system to attach to my chimney, but it was £700+ for an effective system

  • ouch! Is that 1200watts the specs for the power supplies or the tested load at the plug. My pc, a zotac GF9300 min-itx in a Sugo SG05 case with E8500 and 4gb ram has been tested to consume between 55 and 80 watts but the sugo SG05 power supply is rated at 300 watts. Many experts say its best to minimize power usage before going solar to save costs.

  • i got 2 gtx 260 cards in sli going into a 40" 1080p tv monitor.

ups system says the pc draws about 800w during gaming.

tv manual says it draws about 400w.

    combining those is about 1200w

  • just rechecked the manual, tv only uses 240w

  • Thats a lot of wattage going up in smoke, but if thats your passion, not much can be done about it, as latest games do demand powerful graphic processors. I do have my pc plugged into a bravia so I can watch the occasional movie, but the onboard graphics processor (geforce 9300 using shared memory) doesnt have the grunt to run the latest graphic intensive games. Its going to be expensive to build a solar system that can run your pc for any length of time.

  • wrong

  • radic, your a man of few words, best keep it that way :)

  • spell my name out full please, I get insulted if you don't.

  • here we go... radicalaceshasbrin

  • You are redeemed.

  • y r u different

  • y r and u are all letters of the english alphabet dear.

  • Now make one 100 times bigger and we are in business

  • :-) I think it is possible.

  • damn straight! :)

  • what stat are you from?

  • Florida

  • florida like charls trippy

  • Glad to see you guys finally put something together, with a result, albeit 300ma. Folks need to learn a project like this ALL the way through from concept to usable energy produced... and converted into something useful. Fun to play with lenses, and burn up sticks, but actual electricity... now you're talking solar power!!!

  • :-) The fittings have always been the issue. These have noting but a ridge for a small belt but that would never work. The other large engines have old pulleys that nothing fits. I have some steam engines on the way that really do some work. This is only 6 watts but I know it could do more. Just need to find the right generator option.

  • error try again later,do i hate that.....

  • great vids but could do without the music...lol

  • Paddle faster....I hear banjo music....LOL Really enjoy your vids!!!!
