A balloon will work as a vapor barrier too... until you poke it with a pin. If there is a way for moisturre to get into a basement it will, fibergalss in basement is a bad idea.

Just spray foam walls and rigid foam your floors.

I would rather fork out the extra cash to foam the joist ends in than cut all that visqueen around every cavity. That would take forever!
