@VampireExtol1 the first 2 days i thought it was shit, but after if you understand the battle system completely it's bloody worth it trust me. MUCH better than the 12. the 9 was by far the best 10 second best but you cannot compare 13 to them because it is totally different. 13 is a beautiful game, u must have some patience. the only turn down is that it has TOOOOO many cutscenes.

The reason ff7 was popular was because of it's art direction. I loved starting off in a dark town and then being exposed to a bright bigger world. Ohh and after playing this demo on my ps3 I am in love with this. The battle system has such vast potential since it's all realtime cinematic turnbased. xenogears with a touch of chrono cross

No one will ever look at any FF as being better the 7 if they already think that's the best. Because of Nostalgia alone. A lot of us were really young playing that game for the first time. I was 7 years old. But I agree, this game does look very very promising. Especially after 12.

Not just nostalgia alone, that's a bit arogant. FF7 was just great overall in a plethora of ways e.g) game design and narrative. No-one would have remembered the game if it didn't have features which made it great in the first place.

Sure, it had its technical accomplishments, I think we all agree, but I think that in the following years other RPG's (not necessarily just other FF's) have at least improved upon it. In all, we'll never know SAM :P He has a good point but it lacked the full picture, he mentioned that a lot of us were really young playing that game. That make sit seem as if FF7 was ONLY played by kids who have majured into teenagers-adult teenagers, it's missing a whole demographic of the adults 20-30-40-50 who probably also played this game when it was out. Therefore nostaglia is not a valid argument.

I still play it now and i love it. FF7 is not an old codger game to be thought of, it remains popular to this day. However, if most people still like it the most even now after following rpgs have improved way furthur, it is obvious that FF7 must of done SOMETHING right in order to main it's popularity.
