  • It's so good to find this song...It has been the sweetest song for me since I heard Ewan singing. He's perfect. Just blessed.

  • I like the version done by the Merry Wives of Winsor better. search KH/MWOW_Lass of Aughrim to hear it. It's a beautiful rendition.

  • What is this song about?

  • The memory of lost love.

  • i figured. Can anyone clue me in who Lord Gregory is?

  • From "The Lass of Roch Royal," one of the famous collection of English and Scottish child ballads. In this ballad, Lord Gregory's mother, unbeknown to him, doesn't allow a woman who has a newborn child to enter his castle. One way or another the woman dies, often searching for Gregory after his mother's lie that he was out at sea, and lord gregory dreams about her and goes out and dies too.

  • @toReasonWhy

Aughrim is in county Galway Ireland, the song is Irish origin and this has to be possibly the worst rendition I have ever heard

  • Or love never obtained.

  • Gran cancion!!! me encanta!!! y adoro a Ewan!!! es tan buen actor y tan guapo!!!

  • To whom it may concern:

DELETE your life, not this lovely piece of music!

    Yours truly,

    E.B.

  • Fascinating tale. Beatufiful song beautifully sung!

  • Very nice. Ewan MacGregor looks remarkably like James Joyce at the start of this clip.

  • Well if you be the Lass of Aughrim As I suppose you to be Come give me the last token Between you and me Ah Gregory don't you remember That night on the hill When we swapped rings off each other's hands Surely against my will Mine was of the beaten gold Yours but black tin Yes mine was of the beaten gold Yours but black tin The rain falls on my yellow locks And the dew it wets my skin; My babe lies cold within my arms; Lord Gregory, let me in
  • Grazie
