@robmasterman Cheers Bob. I couldnt get out in the morning and Austin was already in position when I arrived. The problem with short days is there's really nowhere else to go in that area.
@khankadet Thanks Chris. As Austin said I think we can all share the prize for having the gantry in shot - its very hard to keep out wherever you stand.. If I don't see you this weekend, all the very best for the festive season and here's to a steamy 2012.
Rather than luck, it's your love a what you do that shines through... and by persisting you achieve a beautiful shot like this one. For a steam enthuisiast like me, I get a lot of pleasure out of the good work people like you do :-) Hugh.
Very nice, indeed. I'm intrigued that with different cameras you can exchange batteries. I have two both Panasonic but with different batteries and different chargers! . . . . Alan
@balmesh Thank you Alan. Austin wasn't using his 2nd camera - Canon HV30? - and I have have the HV20 which uses the same size battery. It would have only been a short walk back to the car, but he's a gent.
Nice one Mike, I reckon an honourable draw in the gantry competion, what say you! Interesting to note that your Canon gave a truer picture of the pinkish sky as she left than my Panny. Good to see you yesterday, bill in post for equipment rental!
@acw71000 Cheers Austin. Happy to share the prize, lol. My Cannon is set on auto for most things, and we both seemed to have about the same amount of sky in shot. Older quality obviously, lol. Thanks again for saving my little legs a walk back to the car.
It's great to see 2 Britannias on the mainline. Thank you for sharing your excellent work.

Excellent Mike - I think you beat me with avoiding the gantry and a better position. But very good to see you and have a brief chat. Chris

Very enjoyable video of Britannia at Chester and from a tremendous vantage point to offer the best views as it left the station. :D

@fluoridekid Thanks Rich. It's a popular spot and given the shorter days about the best place for the return leg.
