  • Hey man, Mine's made in China. The high E string keeps popping out. Does it happen to you too? I had it repaired on a guitar tech. And I hate his opinions. I think the strings won't bind well on the nut. When I bend it to the third fret high E, it gets sharper.

  • Mmm looks like a toy

  • how much did you buy it??

  • THANK YOU for starting off by PLAYING and not just rambling on. I don't take any review seriously where people start off by reading the manufactures description. In short.. Thanks for a genuine review :) great playing! i would love to hear it with a tad of distortion though.

  • The very last lick you did, JIZZ!

  • hello Mr. John, regard from your neighbour in Indonesia, i like all your reviews, i had one of this and it's a nice little guitar, but now i have squier jazzmaster vintage modified and i love it too ( because it made in my country Indonesia ), could you review squier jazzmaster ?? thx a lot and keep the good reviews..

  • the fretboard looks like a mirror ..its so clean n polished well!

  • very informative video, well done, and great playing.

  • im getting this guitar next month i love it

  • I tried one of these, and i love them. Probably won't get it, and go for a nice 60s vox instead.

  • If I get one of these I'm getting it re-sprayed a nice red colour and getting a white pick-guard for it. Better than Beige with a Gold pick-guard...

  • Is this the only one version of Mustang made my Squier?

  • @OlympiaMusicTV they made a squier cyclone once but it had a bridge humbucker from the factory i think i dont know if they still make them

  • this is a cheap guitar in usa... here is a little bit expensive...a fender mustang is like 6000$...squier duo sonic is 2500$...and the minimum in a job is 1900$ :( so in a month yo cant buy a squier...jajaja

  • How is the tuning stability. Does it stay in tune very well?

  • Really good, clear. informative review! Never heard a skunk stripe called a stringer (?) before. And yeah, I say aluminium too!

  • I own one of these.

  • do they have the fender ones? i dont want the squiers

  • Good question. It would be cool to see some nice USA versions of this model.

  • @johnhguitar a mustang is close

  • @johnhguitar there are vintage fender ones from the 50s and 60s but they cost an arm a leg and an asscheek

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar You can just get the Fender Mustang, which is basically a Duo Sonic with very minor differences.

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar You serious?

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar I have a MIM one I wanna sell.

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar Dont understimate squiers please. They are great guitars.. I suppose some people just need the F-word

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar i'm pretty sure that would just be a mustang

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar Oh, am I allowed to ask why you don't want Squiers?

  • @WoWbookt I don't like Squiers for environmental and workers rights reasons.

  • @SuperBenzid Okay, then I think it's okay :D

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar ya fender makes them their called mustangs

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar yes, it's called the Mustang

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar Just because a name on a headstock...You make me sick.

  • @BaktolKillWithGuitar

Fender reissued the Duo-Sonic in the early 90's in 22.5" scale.

    they were made in Mexico.

I have one made in 93 and don't like it..

  • I am a begginer so i dont really know much about guitar pricing and i was thinking of getting this guitar. How much will i be expecting to pay?

  • @MrKuKuBoi not much... squiers are cheap

  • @MrKuKuBoi $330

  • Ever notice when a guitar's pickups aren't worth a damn the people doing the demos only do so in the clean channel but NEVER in the distorted channel?

  • the brightest sounding guitar ever

  • fuckkkk it sounds so cool

  • hey, whay would you recommend for a guitar the price of this one? is this good for the price, or should i buy something else? some suggestions. thanx.pls respond.

  • Any guitar under $500 is up to the personal taste of the buyer. There's no way to really compare at these low prices.

  • @johnhguitar let me put it another way. if you had only 500$ would you buy this guitar? if not, what would you buy? pls.i;m hoping u can help me decide what to buy.

  • @ghizmo03 Obviously I'm not John, but personally I would get it. I bought it about a year ago and I still love it. My advice would to just go to a guitar store and try out different gits in your price range.

  • @johnhguitar i also find it useful to mention that i found this model at my local music store at about 300$

  • man that tone is totally jingly and hurts my ears, is it the amp setting or the guitar?

  • I normally don't look at squires because I own a fender american and they are normally not very good, but I played this and it was very nice both playing and visually plus the price tag wasn't too bad its really a fun little guitar

  • i want one so badly

  • I wish Fender did a usa standard version of this

  • why would I download this for $.99 when I just watched it for free?

  • Are you really using a Roland Cube 30? God, your sound is great.

  • Great sounding little guitar

  • would be cool to put some mini humbuckers in it.

  • 0:20 It's look like a Fender Mustang guitar!

  • @johnhguitar

Would this one be a good guitar for Funk ?

Btw i guess it is a lightweight instrument isn't it ?

  • @stegler73 fender eats gibson for lunch, fender has a great bright tone

  • I had a 1967 Musicmaster which was a single pickup version of this(Pickup was at neck and man did it sound great! I've played one of the Squire Duosonics that had a different set of knobs than this and it was set up well by the fellow who owned it and it sounded really good and felt really good--sort of same setup as a Tele--had good bluesy sound

  • Poke my finger on those sticking out strings several times... Know exactly what you mean :-)

  • hey John, would this guitar do well with Post-Rock?

  • cool little guitar. were you using a cube30 with it?

  • I have tried this guitar and its color didn't fit me. Otherwise it sounds perfect! :)

  • sir john, does this guitar sounds well in distortion?

  • I can't say. Anyone try this with a distortion pedal?

  • @johnhguitar by hearing you play this, i have a feeling this will sound bad with a distortion

  • @johnhguitar ME ,its great with distortion! sounds truly rockin

    TBWTG

  • @johnhguitar is it good for grunge/ rough garage sound?

  • @johnhguitar tried it once, but not for blues or metal like some pricks perhaps would be looking down to this guitar. these pickups are low-gain pickups, depending of what genre you're playing, but my genre, which is brit-rock, i put a little overdrive and high tone to this bastard and it squeaks out of the clarity and details.

  • @1990Olloccin

I own this guitar and was pretty suprised with the quality coming from squire however with distortion it doesn't exactly sound the greatest with that effect.

It's more of a bluesy guitar so a little bit of fuzz and reverb would be all you need.

If you want any sort of distortion you're better off with slight amounts of overdrive, it actually compliments the guitar pretty well.

  • @1990Olloccin tuub, it has single coils. those aren't meant for heavy metal stuff. Just get something with emg's or humbuckers. Single coils give a more funky, bluesy, clean kind of sound

  • @1990Olloccin i use this as a surf guitar but i play round with the sound of it in my Vox with a distortion hookup...i like the jangly yet strong sound on it but not as bluesy as my Les Paul

  • Alot of talking, alot of playing :D Perfect review !!!!!!

  • you have any Rickenbackers sittin around back there?

  • I wish I had a 12-string Ricky with a larger neck. Whenever I pick one up I can't play it because the neck is too small. Is there a larger sized neck model? There must be right? It's not a guitar I know much about even though MR. Ricky lives nearby.

  • @johnhguitar I don`t remember the model number but the `Tom Petty`model had a wider neck :)

  • @johnhguitar There is a wide-neck 12-string Rick available. It's called the 660/12; it's a solid body with the vintage style toaster pickups and it's got nice vintage features.

By the way, these are some great videos!

  • @johnhguitar go for the rickenbacker 660/12. i have both a rickenbacker 360/12 and 660/12. the 660 has a wider flatter neck which i find much easier to play more of a " ( " shape vs " C "

and please, refer to them as neck and bridge pickup... "for those who dont know a lot about electric guitars..."

  • @johnhguitar - i believe you can get a 660 now, like a 620 but with wider neck. (used to be only available on the tom petty 660/12 signature, iirc the main reason he got them to do it)

  • love the twang

  • Thats are very expensive guitar in denmark. it maybe cost 5000$

  • Some great Squiers for a great price.

    **Check my Strat demo!!!

  • I love your reviews, thank you!

  • cool... soon im gonna have it, by the way, im just inquiry, do you need to adjust the pick up for that sound?? or it's just a factory setting. thanks.

  • should i get a classic vibe duo sonic or a classic vibe telecaster?

  • I love this guitar but it looks so damn cheap

  • COOL vintage sound and awesome groove ... yeah, wanna ride a motor-bike and have some fun at the beach! ;-)) Thanks!

  • I saw that earlier it is new then nice! :)

  • do you think this guitar could work for surf rock too? cause i just dont have the money for a jag or jazzmaster, thanks for your ttime

  • @MIMguy31 , the "Fender" sound is the stereotypical surf sound, so even a Strat would do you fine. This would do real nice if you don't mind the short scale.

  • @notaphaser okay thanks!

  • im looking for a good "surf" guitar and recommendations??

  • Jazzmaster of Jaguar by Fender and that's it.

  • @johnhguitar

    jagmaster.

perfect for everything, nicer playing than my jag.

thats why i never use it :L

  • @johnhguitar I agree with that selection, they were the ultimate surf axes. Hey,remember those Vox guitars?

  • @MIMguy31 According to Dick Dale, a strat is the ONLY choice for surf guitar. But I'm sure you can use just about anything. An amp that will give you heavy reverb is much more important.

    Just my opinion.

  • @MIMguy31 mosrite the ventures model

  • you're too cool man!

  • are these good for grunge?

  • I really dislike the pickguard..

  • in relation with the price, what's you valoration for this guitar? [ /10]

  • It's a nice guitar but people don't seem to want to spend much on an imported Fender/Squire. Thanks

  • @johnhguitar aditional pickguards on the market for this guitar?

  • Go to Allparts and check it out.

  • Look at the Glossy neck, its enticing

  • itd be cool if it had Lace Sensor pickups in them..John maybe you can installed them

  • I like the sound of this. It sounds great. I like the tone. Ever since I bought a CV Strat, Squiers are beginning to impress me. In tone and overseas craftmenship. I earlier this year bought my first Gibson Les Paul Studio. It does not feel as comfortable in my hands as the fenders do.

  • the only bad thing about this is its color

  • the way he says "but it had only one pickup" is like he is saying that I crashed my car yesterday

  • This guy makes the best reviews

  • I could be wrong, but I thought that the Duo-Sonics had a 22.5 scale length?

  • @gtrplr42 or 24'' maybe

  • Comment removed

  • its like a mustang!

  • ive had this guitar for a day and its already one of my favorites. if your considering it, JUST BUY THE DAMN THING. its awesome.

  • Everyone says the longer scale strat has more twang. I say B.S. I dont like the fixed bridge setup. I like the options that the Jagmaster give me.

  • 25.5'' Scale.

    :¬)

  • Wow. Jingly.

  • why doesn't fender make this guitar?

  • @BrickFrigid they do squier is fender.

  • @MegaJaybee false, squire is made by fender, but with not as good materials

  • @BrickFrigid

They do, it's something called a Fender Jazzmaster. Given with more or a tradition Fender feel. (Pickguard, knobs, etc)

  • This was an ok review... I just would have liked to have seen plectrums, chords, and perhaps some gain! But thanks for uploading :->

  • Are you Australian? You sound American.

  • @Parley454 I'm American but lived in West Australia for ten years. Thanks

  • Thanks for reviewing this. I'm seriously considering buying one of these. It looks fantastic and sounds great. I'm glad you picked that Roland amp, that's the one I use.

  • I want one of these badly.

  • Anyone got any experiences in consistency and build quality in these squires? from what ive heard they're pretty solid!

  • 300 bucks?!?!? am i seeing this right?

  • Ooohh look at that fret board shine!!!! Ugh so marvelous

  • Cute ickle guitar, with a classic snappy tone. Thought it was going to be a cheap'n'nasty instrument, but no, it oozes plenty of charm.

  • Well done mate, you could make a £50 guitar sound amazing!

  • I really like that tone, I love mustangs too, this one is a classic vibe squire- that whole line of new guitars are really well built, real solid.

  • wow these guitars are sooo nice, they the neck is perfect

  • While on holiday last year, I had the opportunity to trade my Squier Bullet Strat for one of these. I really regret not doing it!

  • It is a wonderful guitar.

  • i kinda wish it came in another colour besides this tan thing....

  • yeah a sunburst version would be nice.

  • Squier make seriously good stuff these days. This Classic Vibe series is as good as much, much higher priced Fenders.

  • @Apopholis agreed! Granted, I picked through a stack of them, but I feel my strat is justr as good if not better than many an american standard. The sound of these newer ones is phenomenal.

  • Comment removed

  • @Apopholis i agree i got a squier jagmaster its pretty well a jaguar it seems

  • I love the skin of this Squier.......

  • is this a review of a guitar, or a demo of why hippies are a bit vague?

no offence meant, but it's a wandering vid, man.

  • dweezel zappas first guitar

  • Dweezil's first guitar was a fender Music master which had one pickup released in 1956 i believe.

  • you are corect sir it was a desert sand colour

but they are the same but only the 1 pickup

  • Thank you for that bit of information, i did not Know the colour of Dweezil's Music Master.

I really like the Shorter scale length but not the half wits that think it is a Child's Guitar.

  • man! the playing at the beginning was /is awesome Tabs for it? pls?

    jam on dude !

  • The straight headstock, as opposed to an angled back one adds a lot of strength. That's the weakest point on a Gibson, which is why the headstocks always break.

  • that guitar is amazing, i played one.

i think it feels better than the standard fenders

    that gor for 500 bucks

  • @44eelz Of course they are, they have Alnico pickups and a good setup unlike Mexican Fenders. I love em...

  • The ending is quite funny

  • is there a left handed Dou Sonic??

  • 00:55 That's cool!

You make the best guitar videos here on youtube ;-)

  • that guitar is so cool. it looks like its so easy to be modded into all kinds of cool things, even though its cool by itself

  • hows the over drive/ distortion, my mate said it was beast!

  • its like nirvana..really really really stratty tinny distortion...thats not a bad thign depending on what you want to play...extreme death metal wouldnt sound good with this guitar at all.

  • question...how much smaller does it feel? is it real noticable when playing? i want to get one, but i dont want to just buy it if it feels real small. thanks =)

  • Small yes but too small? It's your call. Can't you go out and play one at a shop?

  • i dig your videos.

  • John is so god-damn bad ass. Makes this Squier sound like a tone machine.

  • Awesome talent!

  • nice pick ups

  • Thanks for sharing, John.

    Learned a lot from you.

I'm an ukulele player, but like to "poke my head over the fence" to see what my guitar brothers are doing.

You might already know that an ukulele is a subset of a guitar. Put a capo on the 5th fret of a guitar and the first 4 strings are now in ukulele mode.

  • lol i rofled my ass of at ur comment

  • if i put dimarzio choppers in it would it sound good if not what is a good pickup for it?

  • Can you try them without a purchase?

  • Ya but i nvr tried it on a duo-sonic they sound amazing

  • Comment removed

  • I would totally get one of these if the finish was not beige. Maybe I could refinish it, but that would probably be hard to do.

  • i wouldn't refinish a 350 dollar guitar...

  • what was your first ever guitar?

  • I had a Zen-on nylon string guitar from Japan that I smashed when I was frustrated. Also around that time had an old Harmony steel string F-hole acoustic. My first electric was A Les Paul Junior I bought for $85 at a pawn shop. I missed having one of those LPs and traded a 1970 Strat for another one. Both of those guitars are worth a fortune now. It's sad that musicians have to pay so much for a good vintage instruments. Thanks

  • is this one good for punk rock?

  • Might need fatter pickups?

  • played this at guitar center the only squire I have ever played and liked!

  • Awesome review dude. Im thinking on buying one.

  • Wow, that's a beautiful chiming sound on this guitar. I've never seen anyone demonstrate this guitar before (thank you John!) Love that fingerboard.

  • AWESOME DEMO!

  • wish the reissues were exact replicas. .cool demo
