@lazylazyshark Cheers! This is a very similar tuning to DADGAD except that the 2nd interval is between the 4th and 3rd string rather than the 3rd and 2nd. Davey Graham used this a lot for Irish tunes and I think Martin Carthy also used it for a long time. There are three variants that I know of EADEAE, DADEAE and DADEAD.
@electricragtime Cheers, Kev. I only really started trying out this tuning quite recently. Davy Graham used it for Irish tunes (Complete Guitarist) and I think that Martin Carthy used it for quite a long time. It's basically the same as the 'Carthy' tuning which is a tone lower. Carthy sometimes drops the bass and lowers the top string, probably depending on the key he's playing in. I'm going to have a go a Skewball when I get myself organised!
@cjwaywell Thanks very much, Chris. My favourite guitarists are probably Bert Jansch and Richard Thompson. Both play mainly in standard, dropped D and sometime DADGAD, although RT also uses a dropped C tuning CGDGBE. Learning altered tuning can be extremely frustrating because you have to learn the fretboard all over again, but they do open up a lot of possibilities for creating new sounds. The guitar is such a versatile instrument - learning never stops.
very nice! I like to experiment with alternative tunings, but I never saw this one. I will try

Amazing how you even know how to do these odd tunings. Very good indeed.
