These are excellent engines & one that you can fix yourself without having it plugged into a computer at the dealers.

Long live god old fashioned reliable mechanical injection...much better than all the new electronically controlled rubbish.

Love that clatter. If the clatter ain't nice and loud, it ain't really a diesel, even if it runs on it.

My kind of diesels are nice and loud to where you can hear the clatter a mile away.

agree. even though I was just like ten years when cr diesels started to conquer the sales.. if it was like in 2004 or something. why was everything at the best when I was born and I can't remember shit of these days :( once I turned a little sad when I was walking around a municipal field where misparked cars end (say, the graveyard of deserted cars) and it was like a museum of the cars in use in about 2000. maybe it's actually heaven, and after my death I'm given a key to all the cars there :S

I drove this engine in a Citroen BX a long time ago. It ate all the contemporary TDIs for breakfast. :)
