I think Danas trying not make the same mistake he did with the Pride brand once he bought it it out and not do anything with the brand while it still has a loyal following. I think what Dana and Scott are trying to do is make Strikeforce an eventual equal to the UFC the same way the AFC and NFC are in the NFL. Dana has always said hes trying to make MMA competitive with major league sports and I think by doing this that's what they're trying to achieve.

I for a minute don't believe that Dana will ever let the Strikeforce brand overtake the UFC brand as the premier MMA fighting competition. As for Pride, that was a joke to begin with, it was based more on popularity than on talent, and it showed. Strikeforce will be a feeder league, will feature strong prospects and will have great fights, but it won't be the best of the best.

Well if they're keeping it around I hope they make it like a minor league. Bring the top fighters over to the UFC when they prove themselves and send released fighters to Strikeforce until they can build their record again. They most likely won't do this though because it won't make them enough money and the fans will suffer because some of the top talent won't be competing against their peers in the UFC.

The fight won't happen until March, the winner of Barnett/Cormier has to fight one more after that in Strikeforce and then the Strikeforce Heavyweight division will be gone... It's just wasting a year off one of these guys career for nothing.

Gilbert Melendez should remain with strike-force as he is one of a few fighters that will carry it. Also, if he continues his dominance then it may be appropriate for him to fight the UFC champ, which will hopefully still be Edgar.

i still wont subscribe to showtime for strikeforce, but this is a good deal for zuffa to get to get up & coming fighters experience before they get a chance at the major league of the UFC. i think melandez would get beat by most UFC fighters right now, so staying strikeforce champ would be good for him since he's clearly not ready for UFC right now.

strikeforec isnt dead, they still have some really good fighters, i think the only reason jardine is getting a title shot is because he's more high profiled & as fought in the UFC,but that doesnt mean the entire organization is dead or that their fighters suck
