  • this is absolutely the most unexpected pleasure I've had viewing all the ABBA music -- Great work and thank you so much for your time and creative effort

    Brian

  • You have put sooo much work into this Jim! Fantastic research and very detailed description....Thank you for doing this - very much appreciated and enjoyed!

  • awesome...

  • Benny has always been such a good lookin' guy to me, but I'd never seen these earliest pics of him..and I still have to say he's the best lookin'g guy then and now. Still lovin' ya Benny!

  • 4.15........Benny is one of The Beatles.

  • I only wish their early solo stuff could be found in the states.

  • Is "People need Love " the first song of ABBA?

  • I love the yodeling in the end.. beside yodeling Frida can sing opera... Isn't she amazing...

  • @ GlennRobert71 - Yes she is! :))

  • Anni-Frid was born November 15th, 1945 and Agnetha was born April 5th, 1950.

  • Very nice job !!

  • What a good idea ! Thank you, great work

  • Gotta love Aggy's voice and Frida's face. he-he. :)

  • I dare to say that Bjorn seems more good-looking that never in the first video where he appears.

  • I'm from the states and am 58 also. Never heard a fraction of these in the states. Now that I am, it is so refreshing. I think there are many like me and you just might be able to start a whole new craze for ABBA. The best all around music. Thank you

  • pls, whereu found mp3 en ledig dag?thx

  • You've done a great job here Jim. Well done and keep them coming ;-)

  • Fabulous !!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks so much,

    Steven

  • This is really cool. So much work, so much reading between the lines all over!

I was lucky enough to have met the girls in Stockholm or Helsinki in the high summer of 1971.

I'm American, and so I was a "novelty".

One of my all time highlights. I remember telling Agnetha that they could harmonize better than anyone I ever heard at that time. It was some small club, and I, as a healthy 23 year old zeroed in on the blond.

What a summer, and as they say, music history had its first supergroup.

  • You're so lucky! I was born on 1981 and never got to see them live. After all, it is the best pop band in this world and no one is never gonna beat them! :) Even I have sold my soul to rock music, I'm still proud to be ABBA-fan too!

  • Love Bjorn's version of Bobby Goldsboro's Honey song. What a beautiful voice he had. So good-looking too.

  • I love you for doing this. What a rare gem of songs.

  • Hi Jim! As a swede, I of course know a great deal about ABBA, but thanks to you and your fellow ABBA-"maniacs" on youtube I have rediscovered a lot of their early works.

Today I'm specially fond of Benny's work as I regard him to be one of the greatest in swedish music history. In one way he is a child of nature. The music "comes" to him whether is pop, rock, folk, musical or classical.

He master it all, even though he can't read or write it down.

Thank you for all your videos, keep'em coming.

  • wow

  • whoa this must have taken loads of archival research! well done! its a good mix!

  • Thank you. It was a lot of work to be sure.

I think I spent about a week compiling information. I think one of the toughest things to do was blend the songs just right. I knew most of the info, especially Aggy's. Benny's was the hardest to get because singing lead for him was an extremely rare event in the music world! Thanks for looking in.

    Peace from Iowa (USA)...Jim~

  • my mates friend wrote a book called bright lights and dark shadows, its very very informative, i think you should look for it online if you're looking for more information, its VERY comprehensive!

  • I have this book and can highly recommend it for any ABBA fan. Written about 6 or 7 years ago it may be hard to find so if you can find one then buy it. So worth it.

  • Love I´t!!...Måste vara det bästa någonsin..Tack för the Collection!!.:-).

  • Thx a lot for the collections !

I'm glad ABBA are still very strong, lol

  • btw,

the length limit is 10 : 59 if you really need it <3

  • btw2,

you can post these to Dailymotion. com so more ppl can enjoy it,

it's a Franch site, many Europeans there lol (have English interface)

  • wondrous, Jim!

Benny singiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing waaaaaaa never heard him because Bjorn sings louder always

oh he looks awful without beard hahahahahaha

    but the vid is great

    like little retrospective documentary

  • From there humble beginnings to super stardom.

Yes, I guess you could say this is my mini-documentary to their rise to the top! Thank you Miriana.

  • Tu video es una joya, THANKS

  • Wow the work you must have put into this Jim but the outcome is so worth it, it is just outstanding and a completely unique view.

    Thanks for posting

  • Thanks Jim. Most of the work went into research on the songs...the rest was easy!

  • Tremendous vid Jim. Echoing everyone elses' admiration about the progression of solo work into the quartet we love so much! :) Dug the solo by Benny as well as the classy Hepburnish look of Frida from the late sixties. Agnetha was adorable in her early pics. Bjorn doing Goldsboros' Honey. Superlatives all around. Congratties on 250 Captain! Here's to many more! :)

  • Thanks Shawn...Do you like the simple "Live" feel at the beginning and end? A simple progression that was fun to make.

  • Yessir I do! Gives it a real "being there" experience. Truly a gem in your repertoire my friend! Heres to many, many more! :)

  • I'll probably make 'em till I drop dead...either that or get married...Nope, I think I'll drop dead...less painfull!

  • one of your best put together videos jim, some great editing, must have taken some time too thanks alan

  • Thank you Alan. I spent almost a week just on research. I knew that Aggy's song was her first, but the others needed to be confirmed.

Benny's is quite rare because he was a featured singer only a few times ever.

  • Thank you for this beautifull video!!!

    It's very nice!

  • Thank you for looking in Dieuwke. It's one of my favorites of my own videos.

    Peace from Iowa (USA)...Jim~

  • Jim, I sat and watched this whole video twice right after you sent the share and I left a comment, but I checked back because I didn't get a reply and I see why! I must have not hit the Post Comment! It is probably the best side show I have ever watched on You Tube! I remember saying you gave each member equal air time and one for the group in the end. I said I could only think of one word big enough to discribe it..

    Superfagrilcalilisticxbaladocious! 5*'s & fav

    -Dallas

  • Thank you so much Dallas. 250 videos is a bunch to be sure. I just wanted to show their first songs as either solo, or featured singers. The other two are the first time they were all in a song together, and their first hit together.

  • Jim, I felt bad I had goofed up on of all videos this one! I had taken my time to write a special comment and then must have not hit the post button! Anyway, this is just so beautiful in every way and I have watched it about 5 times now! I just love it a lot! You get better & better, and when I think you can do no more you do!!!

    -Dallas

  • Thank you Dallas. I'm not sure how many times I can pull a rabbit out of the hat! I like this one myself and idea's are getting harder to come by....But I'll think of something usually.

  • This is splendid! mrjim studies it for one week and makes it and puts it up. I was surprised! I like the color, too! Thank you very much! masahiro

  • You're very welcome Masahiro. These long videos take some time to put together in terms of researching all the information needed. The color just gives it a special feel.

  • Fantastic work Jim, I love it! And congrats on hitting 250!!! Well done:)

  • Thank you Elin. I worked on this one for a week...Research is heck!

  • love the photo at 7.45 by the way ^^

  • I really enjoyed it, I am so glad you posted it ^^

  • I love this video, great songs too... thanks for posting it

  • Thank you Kathryn, I'm glad you like it.

  • Thank you Eirik. This one took over a week to put together so I hope it's liked by all.

  • Jim, you never fail to disappoint. Can't wait to see your next 250. Thanks for all you do for ABBA, and thanks for being you.

  • Thanks Sharon, but 250 might be enough.

  • Fantastic idea of Their Beginnings!

Who can resist to Agnetha here, but I really love Bjorn`s & Benny`s solo parts too!!

Congrats Jim and never leave your following`s army (ABBA fans) without continuation here on YT ;)

GREAT video and you know That!

  • You never know Laura...one day you could come to my channel and find the music's been turned off...but not for a while at least.

    Thank you for everything Laura.

  • Hey Jim, you have pulled a good one out of the bag here for # 250. Great idea on the debuts!

Great to hear the Bjorn & Benny numbers

    Great army Bjorn pic!!

    Congrats on reaching this milestone

  • Thanks Shay....I am suprised that no one has asked me about the beginning and end of the video.

  • Yes, I just wanted to ask it right now... :)Please, let us to get to know about it, ok?

  • I wanted it to sound as if it were live..

  • Good idea there: 9:40 min of hapiness!

  • Thank you M.A...That's what it's all about, ABBA and happiness!

  • Congratulations on your 250th video Jim!! Hopefully there is a lot to come. 5* and fav greets Susie

  • Thank you Susie. One never knows what the future has in store for us...I might decide to stop making vids tomorrow.....or not!

  • Great video Jim. Congrats on #250. I took me a bit to figure out that "Raring" was "Honey" in English. Love that song. Cant get "People Need Love" out of my head and I had never heard it before. Keep up the awesome work.

  • Thank you Barb. As you can see, I've been very busy since I quit having "fun" 2 years ago! "People Need Love" was their first hit as a group, but they weren't christened as ABBA yet. They were just known as "Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha, and Anni-Frid"

  • For some reason BBAA just doesnt have the ring to it that ABBA does. LOL

  • It works for sheep Barb...Lol!

  • Congratulations on # 250 Jim this is a great one to do it with.

  • Thank you Jim. It gets tougher to come up with ideas every video!

  • You have set the bar too high now Jim-I am sticking to track events!!! mesmorising visually and audibly! Excellent is not good enough!

    Thanks a lot! Bill

  • Wondered where this comment had gone-someone has marked it as spam!!!. Congrats on the 250!!-you made me look because I thought I might be near....163 Abba,89 on Channel 2 and 1 on Channel 3....253!!!!-not to your quality though!

  • That was probably me. I saw that I had misspelled a couple of words and I hate my own spelling errors, so I deleted my comment and rewrote it spelling corrected! Sorry Bill.

  • No probs!

  • what else can I say, other than this is one of the best ABBA vids and copilations I've seen. Thank u Jim...is so nice 2 c them since the beggining(great pics of all of them) and the songs are great, I was really surprise about Benny's solo, that's really unusual(he had aa good voice, wonder why didn't sing more)...love Frida's and Bjorn's first singles...and u tottally kill me with Agnetha's Jag Var Sa Kar...I love that song so much!!!! ABBA 4ever!

  • Thank you Salo. This one was about a week in the making. I wanted it to be one of my better videos since it's my 250th video. Benny songs are rare, he prefered to stay out of the lights and let his music sing to everyone! Aggy's first will always be my sentimental favorite...and she was only 17!

  • Good one, Jim! I'm sure a lot of work went into it. I like what you did with the shading of the pics.

I have to say I think Frida looked great with her 60s style hairdo - very chic. And I think this is the first time I've heard Benny sing solo.

Good job! 250 vids? I don't know how you manage to do so much, but I'm a fan. Keep it up. : )

  • Thanks Mike. It's a little trick I've recently

picked up that plays very well. Have you ever seen her video for "En Ledig Dag"? She's a very pretty young lady and very shy in the interview. Solo songs by Benny are extremely rare in the music world. He's had solo "parts" in many songs, but only a few featured songs.

It's truly a labor of love doing all of these videos. Believe it or not, making them sometimes keeps me from going crazy.

  • Thanks for the tip on En Ledig Dag, Jim. I hadn't seen that one before. You're right - she's very beautiful in that clip and did a great job with that song. I love it! They all have so much talent. They sure couldn't miss once they all found each other, eh?

  • Wow,Jim what a clever college collection. I love your blend between scenes. My WMM still has training wheels on it. Some great new pics too. Nice dedication!

  • Thanks Rob. I figured this video needed a little kick and a video of firsts seems to fit. Keep kicking out vids, it'll become old hat sooner than you think.
