Greatest stage actor alive today. Love the fact he's doing a poem on his acceptance speech. Irreverent. Just going up there and doing it with an american accent. From a good old kent boy

Saw Jerusalem Fri night. What an overrated piece. Poorly written, with a supporting cast from a teen drama. While Rylance gave it his best, the script was a failure: full of isn't-this-funny cliches with ironic twists you've seen a million times in far better plays and films. People laughed because they'd heard about Rylance and paid $150 a pop.
And this acceptance speech played to the crowd, the self-congratulating crowd.
Bobby C in Mother .....now THAT is a performance and THAT is a play.
Saw Jerusalem last night here in New York. Today is the last performance. I'm tempted to run down there again today and see the last performance. Failing that I am already thinking of taking a trip to London for the next and likely last run at The Apollo. I am still in a spell from the play last night and beginning to feel a bit obsessed, hence my visit here. Love the acceptance speech & now want to read more of Lewis Jenkins' poetry.
i saw him in Jerusalem months ago and I still am in awe of the performance he gave, no one deserved this award more than him and an example is the complexity and uniqueness of his speech, he is such an interesting and truly talented man. mark rylance has every ounce of respect i could possibly give to someone.
That's the poem 'Walking Through a Wall' by Louis Jenkins. In '08 he read 'Back Country' also by Jenkins. He wound up writing the intro to Jenkins' 'best of...' collection published after the '08 speech for Boeing Boeing. It's all good stuff. Go Minnesota Poets and WI actors!!
My favorite actor of all time. Got to meet him after a "La Bete" performance, swell fellow. He even played Olivia in TWELFTH NIGHT at The Globe back in 2002...he was the most convincing woman on stage I'd ever seen, so I guess he's also the best actress too!
hey jess!!! good to see you and laura and the lovely ivy the other day, thanks for havin us and cookin us food, much appreciated. P.E.A.C.E.

I feel as if the Tony voters voted for Mark because they wanted to see if he'd accept his award like he did in 2008.
jk, he really did do an amazing performance and totally deserved the Tony. :-)

He should just be given awards constantly, so that we can hear more speeches.
