Boy I wonder if those Baseball Team Owners were really as corrupt and evil as they are portrayed in movies like "The Babe" or "8 men out" ? They just seem like the worst people ever! Ripping off their players, being rude as shit to everyone that isnt an owner. I know its true stories but i know how Hollywood likes to exagerrate! What do you guys think? Were they assholes, or were they ok?
@Bigrusssthefuss Charles Comiskey should be kicked out of the HOF and the White Sox should rename their stadium.I`ve never really sat down and watched the movie but I`ve read the book it was based on.Super cheap-even cheaper than Branch Rickey, which is saying a lot.He would promise the players bonuses if they reached certain goals then would bench them if it looked like they were going to accomplish them.Eddie Cicotte was kept out of rotation after he won his 29th game(1919)needed 30 for bonus!
It is amazing just how many hits babe got.is it skill or just born with it?all I could say is all these new Yankee players, they shouldn't think for a second that they are better than him.Babe Ruth,I salute you!
its incredible that they allowed people to pass by the body of babe ruth at that time. i dont think they would do it anymore as some crazy person would do something or disrespect a player like that
What happened to those days where opposing team could mutually a players greatness such as Ted Williams and the iron horse, or Derek jeter and David ortiz.

Babe Ruth was ranked no 3 athlete of all time by Time Magazine. Umm, yeah, Michael Jordan and Cassius Clay were NOTHING compared to Babe Ruth. Boxing didnt get more popluar because of him and Jordan arguably ruined pro basketball.

I still cant believe they tore down Yankee Stadium. It could of been remodeled like Lambeau Field.
It was one of the most famous buildings in the world, and the most famous sports stadium in the world, and second only to the Roman collosium ever, and they tore it down, for a launching pad.
What a sad Moment, The best baseball player ever, died as a body, but his spirit is still walking on yankee stadium´s fields and halls! is still alive in the memory of the game, will live forever! RIP George G. (Babe) Ruth.
Such a sad end to Ruth's life. He looks and sounds like he's 80 years old in this video. It's a shame that such a great icon like Babe Ruth had his life cut short by cancer.

well what many people did not know is that babe ruth used steriods many people say there wasnt any steroids but there were perfomance enhancers (which bonds took) go look at pud galvin it says he was the first player ever to use perfomance ehancer around the late 1800s so its possible both gerig and ruth use roids it figgers since the new york yankees are a bunch of cheaters go METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we own new york
it's so sad that people like you use this as a way to get attention. You care not wheteher it is bad attention you just "Crave it" You do not "own" NY . However if it shuts you up, please believe it, LOL I am sure The Mets have NEVER done steroids (HA! right)FACT- Kirk Radomski, equipment manager and clubhouse assistant for the Mets from 85-95, admitted to selling banned drugs, including anabolic steroids, amphetamines and human growth hormone, from 95 through 05. Shall I go on?
Steroids were in widespread use througout the league for the last two decades just as they were in other sports and there is probably no way of ever finding out how deep it ran. Then again, why am I attempting to use logic on an idiot Met fan??? Nice job on your prediction too by the way. As a Met fan, doesn't it depress you that your sorry team is so devoid of any significant history that your new ballpark is a shrine built to Ebbets Field and the Brooklyn Dodgers? Moron.
I wish they never got rid of Forbes Field. Cause my grandfather watched the Babe hit homeruns there, as well as my mom watch Roberto Clemente play there too.
The main reason that Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park and Wrigley Field are so special and remain icons of sports is that Babe Ruth played in them and made history. That made them famous and special for all others who came behind him.
that's rediculous, the reason that yankee stadium, fenway and wrigley are so special is that they are the last 3 parks that harken back to the old days of the game. They're the last places where fans can go to connect the generations, and yes, Babe Ruth is the greatest thing that ever happened to baseball, but what you're saying is absolutely false.
I agree, im a Mexican NY Yankee fan since i was a kid, The Yankee Stadium never has to be replaced by any new stadium, Im sad for that but i´ll be a Yankee Fan till i dead.
I can't believe they are replacing Yankee staduim with a new one!! It is one of the places that should be preserved at all costs!! I truly think I missed the best years of baseball...It was quite a different sport back then with heros.
I hate the Yankees, but I love the Babe, the end of time is yet to be determined, but he is and always will be the greatest of all time.
