If you are using a spektrum radio for some reason i heard from a lot of people that fly with that brand of radios , they said that the spektrums tends to lose the signals for none reason , i do race rc cars/trucks and i saw the same thing happening to the surface spektrum radios too , i got a futaba 4pk for my cars/trucks and a hitec aurora 9 for my quads , i never lose the signal from either radio systems .
That's amazing that you knew the spot where to drive around to try to hook it, and actually hooked it. Seems like the quad would of snagged on something on the way back. Darn good job...
Well u got to check out my night video of my crash from 300ft lucky I found it it had my new gopro2 on it am trying to up load the video it's a awsome shot until I think I lost single of it too I have a ar6110e on it a park flyer I think am going to change it.
How do you like the Gaui 330X. I have a tri-copter I was building until some lady hit me with a car last fall. So it didn't get finished, but now don't know if I want to finish it or just get a ARF Gaui. Want it for use in AP.
I agree quite inspriring and excellent choice of music! Nice to see that you're up and flying again, Rob! My latest video was uploaded yesterday and you are invited to watch one of my best series of hovering flights I have ever flown with my Gootch Helios 450SE V2 clone. I am still wondering how you rigged the boat to rescue the quadcopter.?
That boat is my friggin hero haha. bet you weren't so wounded, when you realised that the whole thing had recorded :D and realised its potential as the greatest rc heli vid EVER! "batteries not included 2" ???
@mickys514 - Thanks for the comment! It turns out the GoPro housing was water tight, so the GoPro cam stayed perfectly dry. But truth to tell I thought it was going to be shot too when I pulled this thing out the water. It did make for a good video I though I'd share. But I have to say, given the choice I'd of probably rather not had the incident happen at all as the quad is requiring extensive repairs. At least a good vid came out of it though which made me feel a bit better.
LOL.. sorry about the crash but great choice of music... excellent camera that kept working the whole time. Try coating all the electrics with "Deoxit" Gold series electrical protector.. it will undo any water damage and prevent any corrosive reaction..
Great quad copter.. look like it banked 90 degrees before crashing.
@Trainboy64 - Thank you for the comment and info on the Deoxit. After the electronics had dried I was already coating them with an electronic cleaner/lubricant/protector. All in all the butcher's bill was 1 RMRC-480 FPV cam, 1 500mW video transmitter and 2 10A ESCs ... roughly $250 worth. But all 4 motors, the 3 axis gyro and the Futaba receiver survived. I've since also re-lubricated the motor bearings. Once she's rebuilt I'll do extensive testing before going full FPV flight again.
@Trainboy64 - Hard to tell what the problem was. It could have been signal interference or flat out signal loss. either on the receiving or transmitting end. Could have been a gyro glitch of some sort since it was still acclimating to the higher outdoor temperature. Could have been an intermittent ESC or motor connection. Hard to say with these things as there's about a hundred things that can go wrong at any given moment.
That was a great video! I'm glad you got it back. Oh shit is exactly what I said watching haha I've heard rice works really well getting moisture out of electronics. just take out all the components and put them in a bag of rice. I hope you can salvage some stuff. Thumbs up and subscribed! Thanks for sharing.
@QMAXIMUS - Thank you for your comment and suggestion. I've been force drying everything with several fans. So far most of the electronics have dried and seem to be working well. The GoPro camera, which was doing the filming, was in its waterproof housing so it was fine. Only thing that seems to have gone bad is the CCD sensor in the FPV cam. I'm still drying it so we'll have to wait and see ;)

If you are flying over water yu should have floatation fitted to the quad, so next time it will float.
