It wasn't Yokoi's fault the system sucked. He was working hard on it and was putting lots of effort into the system. Nintendo just kept telling him to rush until they forced him to stop working on it and release it as is. If it weren't for Nintendo, this system would've had a chance.
@EdmacZ actually. now that I remember if you look out super paper mario for wii, it has some elements of ideas directly inspired by this video game. FOr example, when mario ejnters those pipes and is in that outside world. for example look at 5:05 of this video.
Virtual Boy was an example of good ideas with bad application. I mean...it had potential, y'know? Wario Land is proof of that. One of my favorite childhood games (I played it on that awful system until I nearly went cross-eyed). The 3D effects were impressive and it really made excellent use of the console's superior 32bit graphics (If only it had more colors).
They really, really need to port this to Virtual Console or something. Best Wario Land game ever.
care to expand on that and defend your standpoint? the damn system died shortly after being released, i've never seen a good review of the system, what was good about it in your opinion aside from a few good games, that could have easily been released on a different system?
yeah i did own the system, i had mario tennis (the included game so that's a given), wario land, panic bomber, mario clash, and i think it was red alert was the last game for it i had. So i'm not talking out of my ass here, i know from experience what playing a real VB was like.
1. yeah it had a 3d effect but it was just a fad
2. very few games is only good news to collectors, gamers usually want a large library of games.
3. the games rarely made use of the dual D-pads on the controller.
I'll play. For those of us who didn't have trouble with the display ( we're rare ), nothing else comes close to offering the same level of immersion. It's not just the 3d, your view of the world around you was shut out by the foam around the viewers. You can't hope to get the same experience in emulation.
Admittedly, it's not worth breaking your bank over. Odds are, it will hurt your eyes. Bad. I doubt there's 10 games worth owning.
*shrugs* gotta work with what ya got, they never did release a fully compleated emulator for this. least i have the rest of the vids full screen size after this one. And what would you rather look at? a black and white version or red and black? if i could even get the emulator to display red and black properly
Heh, the only wario land game I have never tried to play and finished.

Virtual Boy Wario Land is one of those Nintendo classics that are just begging to be remade.

It's better than a Hyperscan.
