The one where you use the platform to move the Goomba-like thing across the gap? It took me.. maybe 15 seconds at the most to understand what I was supposed to do, and 2 or 3 tries to get it right. It was pretty obvious but very cool to do.

I didn't actually realise you could walk on it for ages. After that I figured it out in about a minute

Believe it or not, I didn't walk on it at all. I just sat there flipping the switch constantly, leaving the platform in the right place for the creature to land, then when it landed I flipped the switch so that the platform moved over to the left, allowing the creature to fall to the ground to where I could bounce off him to get the piece.

Then, I return to the platform, flipped the switch, jumped on it, and rode it across the gap, jumping off on the other side.

this is indeed world 2, world 1 is where there is nothing but darkness. If you look at the title of the world it actually gives you the number 2.
