I would not mind him putting me to sleep, very attractive man. I have a question, which do you think is better, anesthesiology or psychiatry? I can decide. I like the responsibility of both, but feel that anesthesiology has more to offer... So?
@bcvmxzbvnbxcmv right on, make sure to look into what it takes to get into a Ph.D program at the beginning of your college degree. There's a lot of extra stuff one needs to do to be competitive that arn't common sense. Good luck!
I love the idea of being an anesthesiologist, however i'm not a REAL big school person. I REALLY don't like the idea of being in school for about 12 years after high school. So for me i'm pretty much set on the C.R.N.A. route. Great video btw.
@bcvmxzbvnbxcmv to be a "psychotherapist" you have to have a Ph.D in psychology. psychiatrists are board certified MD's or DO's and dont do much in the way of verbal therapy
Thank You so much for puting this vidio on. I wanted to have a career in medicine but now I have changed it. But, I always watch videos like this. This one is amazing. I appreciate a lot for this.
Are you a doctor trying to find a few moments to relax. My wife is trying to find a few leads on a residency program. I am willing to donate money to a program; 40K for 2 years; to cover her Y1 and Y2 expenses. California preferred; radiology or pathology a plus.
@hikerdude4000 If you want to become an anasthesiologist just for the money, please DON'T become one. I think patients all across America will sigh a breath of relief.
I’m sorry that you feel that much of your medical education consists of “ancillary things” that don’t apply to your training. As a second year resident who has just started his anesthesiology training, you have yet to witness the true value of your medical education. Give it time, and you’ll see just how important all of that pathophysiology, endocrinology, neuroscience, etc. you studied in medical school is to our profession. There’s a reason anesthesiologists are physicians!
@DrSuperSixSeven I'm currently a PGY-2 in Neurosurgery and I don't know about you, but I was pretty miserable for the first two years of medical school. I felt like jumping off a bridge at certain points because there was no way that anyone can actually expect you to learn the volume of information coming at you in the time it is coming to you.
@DrSuperSixSeven During my third and fourth years, even after learning all of that "cool" endocrinology and pathophysiology bull crap, I still took abuse as an intern because no one would let me apply my knowledge since they thought I had no earthly idea how to apply it. They were right. I figured out then that the first two years of medical school were - for all intents and purposes - one big masturbatory session that has little to do with actually practicing medicine.
@Michael326 I’m guessing that you’re not a physician at all, because no physician I’ve ever met thought first two years of medical school are useless. Not one. Ever. Even in a field like anesthesiology, where the work is somewhat focused, physicians need to have a diverse medical background - which is exactly what we get in medical school. What you don’t gain in medical school is expertise in any particular field. That’s what residency is for.
You probably haven't met that many physicians. Furthermore, I'm not going to argue with you over a YouTube forum if the first thing you do is act like a narc in front of your colleagues.
Very little one-on-one teaching time? Every time you step into the OR with your attending, it’s one-on-one teaching time! Also, most programs have regular conferences and lectures for the residents. Perhaps you forgot to mention those!!
Man this a great video. Its so true what Dr. Hill says about the end about the ancillary things that you have to do to become a resident and eventually a doctor. The most important thing especially in medical school is peaking your interests in specialties and getting other peoples opinions about specialties. I'm an OMS II right now and am pretty set on Anesthesiology. There are so many things about the specialty that are rewarding. Great video..It's definitely one of my favorites on youtube.
I think I have a hunch for this residency! I had a question; I'm very dedicated to my studies currently in med school, but I'm not a pro when it comes to calculations and math; can I still make up for such weakness and fit the profile?
I was very impressed with this video. I have worked with your friend, Blake. As a patient who needed epidurals in the past, it is very important to have a Dr who is not only skilled but possess a calming manner. You have a wonderful, easy going manner that puts patients at ease, especially before any surgical procedures which can always be very scary. Best of luck to you and I know you have a wonderful future ahead of you.
This was real informative to me as an aspiring anthesia dr. My motivation to do anthesia has jumped 50 levels due to the short film. You should do more they are great! YOU have changed my life for the better thank you !thank you dr.hill

@hikerdude4000 they are the top paid physicians right now. Around $250,000+, it all depends on location and years of experience.
