@NewOrleansWoman You're very welcome. I happen to have a remnant of native American in my blood... my great grandfather, however, I sadly and tragically lost the facts of the matter when my grandmother passed away. Maybe in keeping with your dare, I can visit him in the afterlife and put the lamp shade on at the powwow. As long as they don't laugh me out into a distant galaxy. Jokes aside, I'm sure Bisco is in a good place and appreciates your excellent tribute. Peace and blessings.
Hi Shelley, A beautiful tribute video with many great memories for you. The music was just perfect. What a touching story of the shoes, Cheers Billy ;)
Shelly I offer my heart felt condolences to you and the family, The whole world should mourn the loss of this great man. I pray that those who were privileged to listen and learn from him will pass his knowledge on to their children, so there is never a time when no one remembers.
I have supported the Lakota children on their resevation with what little I could afford. My deepest sympathies for you and his close family and friends. He will be missed but not forgotten. :)
Oh Shelley dear I feel so bad for him for you and his family and friends. Bisco was such an extraordinary man and full of life and history. I remember you making a vid for him awhile ago and I enjoyed it,showing us pics of him and the reservation. I love this beautiful tribute to him my dear. You make sweet sentimental loving videos and this will last forever in his memory. I read some of his history you have here. Fantastic background. You're port Lakota Indian Shelley? How cool. :)
Shelley, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Chief Bisco Wolf. I remember watching this video before and it's now a very fitting tribute to a great man. He'll be flying in spirit now. A beautiful video Shelley. Love and Peace. james x
Brisco, my brother...you are now free to fly anywhere anytime...fly as the eagle does proud of the deeds and love you have given to so many....we shall all meet again someday.....
Shelley may your friend of great vision and wisdom have the wings of an eagle and fly home to the deepest blue of the sky. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends...this is a beautiful and touching tribute.....and I know he will be forever in your heart. Deb xx
I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's passing, Shelley. May he rip...it's so sad. The words you wrote are so touching and the video you made is lovely. My sincere condolences....Frances x
I´m overcome with emotion and tears come to my eyes as I read the description and then watch this vid you Shelley have made with love for your friend, R.I.P and reunite with his ancestors Bisco. Thank´s to you Shelley I´ve had the opportunity to have a peek into their culture, I´m so glad for that...this is a dream for me who come from a land hundreds of miles away from you.
Though you will miss him terribly, he is forever in your heart. There will not be a family gathering - a picnic or reunion - that his spirit will not be there For, he lives within each and every one of you. He has simply traveled to a better land....where there is no more pain and suffering. And, he used those new shoes from Shelley to get there.
Shelley this tribuute is a labor of love. I am deeply touched...
Oh Shelley I'm so sorry to hear of your friends passing, your added description was a wonderful tribute , the piece about him sleeping in the black shoes brought a tear to my eye,

This is so beautiful, and such a beautiful dedication, It is wonderful that you met this brave cheif and your dreams came true. You are a very special Lady!!
In my entire life I have never ever thought about my heritage as something to think about,..,as something to talk about,..never !!. I didn't know why..I wouldn't say that I wasn't proud of my family tree, perhaps I just didn't care. But recently, I met some wonderful people, who in their ways, opened my mind - that where one came from, is something to be proud of..Now, I am very proud of who I am, of what I am !!! Shelley & Connor, thank you for waking me up from a deep sleep !!
@jeanamariesmall Jean.... I don't know how much you keep in touch with the family....but did you know that Bisco....Clarence Spotted Wolf...went on to the next camp of his ancestors last last night...July 5th, 2011....
Are you Jeanne's daughter or granddaughter ? I've been in contact with Jeanne all week...Bisco's daughter.....
Beautiful video Shelley -- so well done! BTW -- my greatfather on my father's side was full blooded Cherokee. Plus, there is a sprinkling of Native American blood in my mother's family (and lots of French). I guess that explains my complexion :) Peace my friend! Mike
Thank you very much for sharing your journey, thoughts and memories. I can see why Bisco was overcome with this very beautiful musicial video. It is truly outstanding.
I received your channel from lobsterlady's page, much respect to the true Americans who inhabited this land prior to my existance, true hunters and fisherman. People we can learn a great deal from in regards to respect for the earth and what mother earth gives to us all
What an AMAZING thing to have such a fascinating family tree & to be so proud of where you've come from. This is a Labour of Love and I'm really happy for you that your dream came true......there's just so much character in the Chief's face and he must've had incredible stories to tell. I can imagine how proud you made him feel by filming all this, giving him something that he didn't even know was possible. Not everyone is as lucky as you to have this amazing heritage Shelley
Very nice video, Shelley, and your description is especially touching. It sounds like you overwhelmed him, not with just the computer technology, but with the honor and tribute that you gave him (them). Thankyou for sharing this with us.
Thank you Shelly for sharing your wonderful experience with us. Your side bar tells a childhood dream come true. I am sorry your friend is in bad health.
I will never be able to fathom how it was possible for the army to murder those at wounded knee and sand creek,on behalf of my white ancesters I am so sorry please forgive us
thanks John...if you knew Bisco you'd know why I made that video...he has been going up and down with his health--lost one kidney, now he's on dialysis, and he's having ups and downs--making us all nervous ! But right now it's an up time so I'm happy !
Yes, I know Nerburn would never tell who Dan was. That was a fascinating letter you sent me -- will talk more to you about it later-- I will tell you when his new book comes out--I can't wait to read it. I'm going to reread NEITHER WOLF NOR DOG to remind myself of all the details.
This is a great tribute to your friend and a great video.
When I looked up your information, I noticed that NEITHER WOLF NOR DOG was listed as one of your favorite books. That book taught me lot, especially how a true Democracy is supposed to work.
I have a question for, if you know: Was "Dan" a real person or a conglomerate character? Did that happen or was it just a figment of the authors imagination?
Callenge1-- I will message you about that book--- I emailed Kent Nerburn a year ago and asked him that very question--he wrote back and said indeed Dan was real. In fact I asked him more details about him and he said he had died that past year ! Did you know he's coming out with a sequel to NWND this fall? I can't wait ! Thanks for the compliment on the video--Bisco is in very bad health-having trouble with this dialysis now--he's the coolest guy ... I still talk to him weekly...
I also e-mailed Nerburn. I asked him why Dan had said that the Lakota had trapped or ambushed Custer when everything I had read to that point said that the tribes were in a restful but but guarded posture.
He wrote me back and said that he was just the chronicler and it was not his job to dispute or argue. He just wrote what was said by Dan.
Thanks for the heads up on NWND 2. I'll keep an eye out.
If you can, go see Bisco. Once they're gone, they're gone.
Barry, thank you so much ! I did it out of love for my friend.... a kind man I was only with for 3 days, but who lives in my heart now every day ... in fact he's calling this afternoon along with the friend who introduced us ! He lives now in his daughter's house and had to leave his comfortable retirement home built by a Catholic priest, who has helped the Cheyenne people his whole life. He had to leave because the reservation does not have dialysis there.
This is a great tribute to your friend and just a well done video.
I noticed in your favorite books, you had NEITHER WOLF NOR DOG. That book taught me a lot, especially what a true Democracy is. But was "Dan" a true life person or a conglomerate, composite character.
Thanks RJ !! I don't know how you missed it, but glad you found it :-) Bisco is not doing well at all. They said he has lost a lot of weight. He's living in between 2 overcrowded houses--one with 12 people and 2 bedrooms and one bath.
thanks pal !! I'm so glad you love that picture --you put it on your laptop background? cool !! makes me happy-- I love that picture because that was the greatest dog ! He spent the afternoon following us around the hills... thanks IONIE
What a great tribute! I'm sure he and his family will appreciate it for many years to come - and It may even end-up in their family "photo album", whatever futuristic form that may take!
Thanks, too, for sharing your experiences with the world :-)
thanks:-) I have never met anyone that I was in such awe of before....the stories he told me....you can't imagine ! It was a dream come true for me ...thanks for watching :-)
This is such a good video Shelly even though it's sad,and i have added it to my favourites,it would be so good if we could go back in time and change a few things don't you think, the way the Indians were treated was all wrong,"big time" wrong. Carl

What a great tribute! I'm sure he and his family will appreciate it for many years to come - and It may even end-up in their family "photo album", whatever futuristic form that may take!
Thanks, too, for sharing your experiences with the world :-)
