I read somewhere that the 8320 screen will also work for the 8520 model - is this indeed the case because there are not many 8520 screens sold out there? Thanks!
please guys as laboye mentioned, there is a difference between LENS and outer PLASTIC SCREEN. better know what is defective in ur phone before you start any procedure.
where did you put the screw driver to take out the old screen 0:11sec??in the earphone??? nice video i hope i can understand perfect to do this to my phone...
Ok guys this has nothin to do with this review, but i need a question answered.
What the hell do you call the little clip on the bottom of the older curves? The little piece that fits in the middle. Mine broke and I need to buy one, but can't look it up cause I have no idea what its called.
I stupidly took off the pre formed adhesive on my new lcd screen cover for my bb thinking it wasn't needed... (stupid) !! Anyway, just wondering what my other options will be to stick on my lcd screen cover to my housing??? Not really into the whole super glue thing...
thank you soo much! i was really freaked when i was taking the screen off, it really wanted to stay there and broke into 3 pieces when i finally got it off, but its amazing now!!! thank you!!
This video was amazingly helpful with the replacement of the lens on my 8330. Purchased the part for $5 on ebay (which included adhesive), & replaced myself, vs. paying $40 for the same service at a local repair shop. Thank you, Thank you!!!
Thanks. I dropped mi blackberry on mi sister's metal water bottle, and lens cracked, and I'm looking for a OEM Lens replacement. this video was very help.easier then trying to take the whole thing apart. Thanks again!
People, this isn't an LCD replacement. This is for the thick plastic lens that protects the LCD. This IS also the proper way to do it. You could, of course, waste your time taking the whole front off THEN push the lens out... or you can do it how it was done here. It always works and never fails... unless you do.
Stop blindly complaining and look at what you're commenting about beforehand.
I just cracked a lens on a blackberry curve 8330, it looks the same as this phone. Is it still this simple to replace? please get back to me soon, I dont want to wreck it. Thanks.
If you want to fuck up your BB curve's screen, follow this video. If not then take it to a PROFESSIONAL to have him/her to replace your screen SAFELY!
Wow. if you buy the replacement screen from the RIGHT place, they give you a round tool thats placed in the hole at the bottom of the phone, this releases all of the front cover.
I have found countless faceplates and lenses listed on e-bay. I was going to ask about the glue but it seems that that option is no the way to go. I believe that many of the lenses come with adhesive tape.
Are you kidding!!! BEWARE!! Do not use super glue...the lens should come with adhesive tape! Super gluing the lens to the faceplate it OBVIOUS and will definitely void the warranty...Can't hide superglue from the dealer. LOL.
many OEM screens come with an adhesive already on it, I wish I knew that before I changed my screen, now I have to scrape off the glue before putting the new OEM lens on... GRR
I replaced my lens following your instructions but my lens came with 3M tape which I used instead of the Elmers Crazy Glue but the problem is my lens is not flush like the factory lens was and when using the track ball the lens is raise above the bezel on the trackball and kind of makes it difficult to use, Any suggestions on how to correct this? I have tried twice but still have the same problem.
You can use a small flatblade screwdriver or if you have a jeweler's screwdriver (the kind used to open watch backs) that would work too. I used a jeweler's screwdriver on mine and it came off without a problem.
Thank you so much! My screen cracked, so I ordered a replacement. I'm glad its so easy to do. And i never would have thought to buy that dust stuff. I so will now.
Hey, great video! Is the process the same for the 8330 (Curve) ? Looks like you would have to pry above the earhole, not in the earhole, right? Let me know! Thanks!
Thank you! There is another video that suggests taking apart your curve to get to the screen. At first glance I thought there is no way it's that easy, but you proved me wrong. Thanks again!
i recently bought my blackberry curve and while playing gunz the duel i accidently knocked it off the table i will buy a screen and install it my self thanks to u
I used this video to replace my screen. I have the 8330 but same concept. You have to have some guts to pry off your screen though. (I thought I broke my speaker when i cracked the silver piece at the very top until I realized that it was all one piece and that my new screen included the silver piece.) I also bought a replacement screen with 3M attached..thanks again
my problem is prying off the old screen... i cracked the top of it where the speaker is, trying to pry it off with a screw driver.. i dont wanna kill my phone doing this. help!
Thanks for the great tutorial! I took apart my Curve to fix its camera (RIM wanted $190 to do that) and I did fix it, but the housing is kind of busted (side rails are the main problem) so I've bought a new housing on eBay for $25 but it didn't come with a lens so I needed to know how to do this. You rock!
Hi and thanks for the comment. Some vendors include a pre-formed adhesive strip with the lens. If yours comes with one then it is definitely the best solution. If yours does not come with the pre-formed adhesive then either crazy glue or thin strips of contact tape will work just fine.
Looks so easy. Is that all that is required? There are several other videos have you take the entire face plate off. Is the same procedure for the verizon 8330?
Great video!! I can't quite make out what he says about the glue. "Elmers ____ Glue" What kind of Elmers Glue is it, and where did he say you can get it? Thanks
how about the lens on a 9700?

most likely yes,
but if not they'll send you to the nearest repair store.
but it can get expensive, which is why there are tutorials to do it yourself.
