And most of the bombings and violence in Pakistan post 'independence' is precisely due to sectarian zealots. So, Musharraf is not the worst cause of instability in Pakistan.
Of course, he is a politician, and is corrupt. But to be a 'clean' politician in Pakistan means to sign your own death warrant.

I don't know much about pakistani politics, but this man was trained by the Turkish Army and he is secular (aparts religion from politics, or else men will use this for their own interests). He may have done some things wrong, but at least he did not sell out his country. A so called 'islamic' Pakistan (would take the country 4 centuries back in time and) would only benefit the west, this way they can take control over the country, just like they do over the Arab states. Well siad- let's give any politician the chance to serve his 4-5 year term and I'm sure after 2 or 3 cycles of imperfect democracy a culture of democracy and voting can be stablished in Pakistan. i thought of naming one of the newborn puppies of my dog Musharaf,, but then i thought,, "this puppy might grow up to follow in steps of this general, and attack its own owner the way general musharaf did to his country and country men" so i didnt named my dog after him,, because i didnt wanted a bad dog like musharaf in my house.

Musharraf is a fraud. It is very clear he is/was not ever interested in clearing Pakistan of the Taliban, viewing them as a counter to India in Afghanistan. He has left Pakistan in the worst possible shape it has ever been. Look at him talk about the $ 10 billion that the US gave him. Does he even sound like a statesman?

It must be really bothering you that an idiot like Zardari is doing better in 1 year than a fool like Musharraf and all his destablization of 9 years dictator. Let's face it, Pakistan's image as a democratic nation has improved. Zardari has done a better job of begging for aid than Mush. Our macroeconomic indices have improved. Look up Moody's rating.Terrorism is down and Taelban is on the run.Northern Pak is more secure and safe. Mush only proved a bad dictator is worse than any bad politician.

I could not agree with you more and I am happy for Pakistan. My concern is that sometimes a wise benevolent dicator can do a lot more good than a corrupt elected President/Prime Minister. This is of couse in theory only. On the other hand, Zardari is a known bandit who has looted the Pakistani nation. There is enough material evidence to tie him to $ 1.5 billion in bribes. The dilemma then is democracy or debilitating corruption.

Regardless of whether a politician is or isn't corrupt, he is still better than a clown dictator. It seems Musharraf has more followers and admirers in India than in Pakistan! We have lived through 9 years of this clown and let me tell you I would choose a corrupt politician any day over a corrupt dictator like Musharraf! At least things are improving in Pak now! You forget that even your Indian politicians are corrupt and looters like Laloo Prasad Yadav- why don't you find a dictator in India?

this SOB is the reason we are in this mess, when army was almost done with the taliban in waziristan in 2005 he stopped them to do final push when they were cornered in few kilometers.
when mullah fazlu was ransacking swat he didnt take action immediately but allow the problem to grow.
so what meant was he wanted the problem to remain so that he may be in power.

If situation during Musharraf was so bad than how come we also managed the election even in Swat and not only that, but ANP won the election in Swat hands down without any problem, and Swat was peaceful.
