Could you be more specific on his shortcomings as a head spiker? At the moment he is number 4 on the list of the most scoring players in the Italian Serie A.

well for one thing he cant even make it onto the cuban national team, he doesnt have alot of range when hes hitting and hes not a good passer. hes a fantastic leaper and that is the reason he scores points. hes not a great all around player. thats also why he switched from playing outside hitter to opposite, because he cant pass.

is that specific enough?

Could the reason that he is not in the Cuban national team be that he defected from Cuba when he was playing a tournament with the team in Europe in 2002?

Of course passing counts when considering if an outside hitter is a great player or not. But 1) not being among the 2-3 best passers in a world class team does not necessarily mean that he can't pass. 2) Not receiving keeps him ready for attacking all balls which would be a good reason to switch him to opposite (br) if he scores many points.
