My neighbor tried this last summer, with negative results. He weighs over 400 pounds and the balloons only lifted him about four feet off the ground. He tried releasing bowling balls he was using as ballast but dropping bowling balls into a crowd of excited on-lookers didnt' work to well. He injured his wife's foot and a cat.
In the end we had to cut him loose. He celebrated by drinking a 12 pack and eating about 15 pounds of pasta.
and i would like to add, its not unsafe or crazy at all.
really, its simple, not dangours.
and im only spending $ 400. australian.
the helium tank i want costs $300. the good large balloons cost aprox $30 and a rubber dingy is $12. also some good lite string and common sense. yes, thats correct, common sense is used to judge weather the wind is ok. not mathimatics. i have had 3 tests. i will not use a parrashoot, no thats not stupid
@williameatloxton - I am in experiments to fly with helium. I want it to be handy and easy available to use for local transportation. Anyone Like to help, contact me.
