Every animal on Earth is supposed to keep other animal populations balanced right? So then sudden drops and increase in animal population is normal, so of you overkill a predator wouldn't that possibly make its prey decrease further since there are less predators, but they can eat more without starvation occurring? I kinda hope you read this
