Responding to a couple of written comments...I am a cosmetologist and it is true about what color chems do. NATURAL does not just refer to texture. (ex. my natural hair color is..._) NATURAL means unaltered in ANY way.
some people do experience permanent loosened curls from commercial hair dyes. and depending on how loose the natural curl is in certain parts of your head, you may notice that those pieces become straightish and limp, with no visible curl anymore until you cut out the dyed hair. so in that regard, no, those women no longer have natural hair because their hair texture is permanently changed by the coloring. dyes can also create permanently frizzy hair until its cut out. still not natural.
Hey, people are crazy but the color can change your hair texture but it reverts back. and you are still natural but you just are not a natural with uncolored hair. SO WHAT! I think the fact that your natural is great. That person may have been trying to nit pick and that is ridiculous. But anyway don't let anyone discourage your natural efforts.
NOT because your hair is straightened in any way. The level of straightening is next to nothing.
Simply because you now have a chemical inside your hair. It's not what grew out of your head.
I'm not natural, but I'm very nappy too. It's not an INSULT, it's just a fact. Why does a label mean so much to people? Not being natural means that you are flawed in some way? It's just hair and hair styles!
Anyways, keep on growing, your hair is very pretty :)
I can't stand when people who go natural try to become all high and mighty. Being natural means not using chemicals to change the texture of your hair, period. Being napptural means not using chemicals, pressing, extreme heat, etc..and loving your naps. So if you are not using chemicals to change your texture then your 100% natural, coloring your hair does not change that fact.
I color my hair and while it may not be 100% natural it's how I wish to accent my kinky curls. I still have my natural coily pattern/texture. The key for me is keeping it maintained with all natural products and perm/relaxer/texturizer free. My hair looks and feels great color and all. I'm sure you do the same so keep doin you and let dem keep talking. :)
I am not sure what some people's deal is. But hon you are still natural. You did not alter your hair texture, you just altered your hair color. It is the texture that keeps you natural. Henna is VERY drying for a lot of us. I am one that it performed badly on my hair.
Some people are really militant about what is natural and what isn't. I am quite sure if you pick them apart from top to bottom, they AREN'T that natural either.
You're hair looks great and you ARE still natural!
Just for my two cents, there is absolutely nothing wrong with hair coloring at all, but I do believe that if you are natural you should try to use natural products in your hair. Like using petroleum products, (like blue magic and luster's pink) or ammonia products kinda defeats the purpose of being "natural". It's more than just a hair texture preference but caring for your hair. If you don't trust Dark and Lovely relaxer with you hair, why trust Revlon hair coloring?
Henna straightens your hair a little too. Dont worry too much, some people get real extreme with the natural thing all the way to products and lifestyle, thats cool but it doesnt negate what the rest of the relaxer free community does.
I color my hair and I am natural. My hair is very healthy and without coloring it will still dry out if it is not maintained. Coloring alters your curl pattern sometimes in the first few weeks however it reverts back afterwards in a major way.
Whoever made that comment clearly doesn't know what their talking about. You are natural darling color or no color. What's happening is their starting to feel that arrogant PRIDE over their undyed hair. Natural hair is not superior!!
to me not natural means chemically treating your hair to change it's texture (texturizer, perm etc). but i've seen plenty of naturals still color their hair.
Your hair looks natural to me, so don't allow any comments from anyone on YouTube or anywhere else to get you so worked up, especially when you can't see them to know exactly how to take the comment. Even though I choose to use a commercial conditioner as my co-wash along with my 'natural' hair care products, this doesn't mean that I'm no longer a 'natural'. Take a deep breath and know that you are beautifully natural with or without henna color in your hair. God bless you, sistah!
