I suggest everyone google "Emily Rosa", a young lady who when she was 11 published a medical report regarding the new age medicine BS and how it's a fraud. She was even published in the Guinness Book of World Records for her findings.
Secondly, if I had a parasite in my body, how would you get rid of it? Massage it out? Drain it out? To some very, very small degree I agree with her on things, otherwise it's just utter BS, IMO. I'm actually insulted by her, especially since I've been busting ass in med school for two years, and she thinks she has a finer knowledge.
I knew she was out of her mind when in one video she said you can get toxins and....wait for it.....PARASITES out of the body without medical help. Parasites, are you serious? I'm curious as to whether or not she even knows what a parasite is.
First off, toxin is only a term used by those who buy into that new age medicine BS. It's not a medical term.
Was wondering if you know or have anything regarding Meneire's Diease / Tinnitus? I would love to see a video regarding massage and those medical issues ...
I also have to add this: The average PET 750ml plastic bottle weighs 15 - 60 grams(ie those crinkly ones with less plastic weigh less.) A glass 750ml bottle weighs on average 400g or so. So, on a truckload of say, 1000 cases of 12-750ml bottles, not counting contents, the plastic would weigh 180kg to 720kg. The same in glass, 4800kg. That means the glass load weighs 6.6 times more, which means more fossil fuel burned to transport. More burnt fuel=more toxins in the air. It's not simple to fix.
This isn't even a massage, it's a lecture. From 5:09 to 7:30 she just sits there, talking hocus pocus with her hands on the client's cheeks. I believe in massage and energy exchange and that, but this vid just seems like a vehicle for propaganda and not about how to help someone through massage.
For some reason the random political rants make these more enjoyable. Athena's commitment to what she believes in his admirable and rather endearing...even if I do enjoy the old Evian from time to time.
@subby001 Right? Headache is either a migraine, tension headache, a sinus headache. I migraine is a vascular headache, anything else is muscle tension or sinus. For the first there are meds, for tension there is massage, chiropractic, or muscle relaxers or any combo of those. For sinus take some Sudafed and anti-inflammatories. If you're dehydrated, drink some fecking water. Messed up kidneys or liver will give you a hell of a lot more than a headache and massage won't fix ANY of that.
If the headache pain medication you're referring to is Tylenol, you are correct, it is toxic....HOWEVER, it is only toxic when you take more than the recommended daily dose (>4 g)...if you take less than 4g, the toxic metabolite will not be an issue/your body will be able to handle it!
@squigglethepiglol i agree with squiggle. athena could make a different set of films in which she discusses her views of the world, and i think those would also be well suited to the psychetruth channel. the massage films could then stick to their main two purposes, and the impact on viewership would likely be positive.
Do you really need the bottle water speech in every single video now? Used to love your videos, but this is getting annoying... PS: can't wait for the reply by mystery207. I'm sure that we're going into religion and politics again.
Considering Athena has some really strong and interesting to listen to opinions about health therapies and healthy lifestyles, perhaps it would be worth considering separating those topics from the massage videos. That way during these videos she can actually talk about the massage she's performing, and in separate videos all together she can discuss more on her opinion. It seems like that way it would quell some issues people are having with Athena's commentary during the video.
@knightlife88 Please watch the movie TAPPED. Bottled water is a huge issue for health and for the environment. Plastic poisoning is not good for us. Massage cannot be effective if the health of a person is strongly compromised.
@titarse100 She never specifically mentions it, but she talks about it on her website acranio.com under Biography :) She seems to be just fine these days, but I'm sure there are some remaining side effects.
I love listening to your videos, but you must see that we live longer lives now then humans ever did. I think there's a benefit to living naturally but I think you're stepping over the edge into a very murky pool of untruth and unknown, and then you're trying to invite others in. Eliminating bottled water and plastic bottles isn't the fix - glass bottles take a considerable amount of energy to make, sterilise and recycle as well. Some areas NEED bottled water, the ground water is unsafe.
@hunthicks i agree shes a great massage therapist and there is SOME truth to what she is saying but some of this is just unbelievably dumb shes suggesting that places like Africa and South East Asia where clean water is lacking for them to stop using bottled water? if shes talking about US and other nations with clean water i can understand but for nations that dont have clean water and dont have supplies to make clean water bottle is the only way to go.
@hunthicks yeah i know what you mean. I live in Oahu and the water is amazing. Still bottled water is a necessary evil its even more apparent in disaster zones. What are we gonna use if there is a tsunami? Tap water wont be clean and if we don't got bottle water what are we gonna make them do? Boil water for thousands of people who are thirsty? that is gonna take to long and is just stupid. regardless i love these vids but she needs to kinda think about what she says.
@hunthicks Plastic is very dangerous. It would behoove you to do some homework in it. Get a Berkey and filter the water, get your own glass bottle and fill it up. Stop throwing away plastic that the environment has to deal with. Plastic is not biodegradable and only a small percent of plastic reaches recycling centers. Are you aware the petrochemical industry profits with plastic? For those few who may need bottled water, perhaps we should figure out better ways of packaging. Watch TAPPED.
@athenaraven1 Sorry, I'm not interested in watching anything of the sort. I'm fully capable of making my own logical assumptions based on that which I know. Yes, plastic is made from petrochemicals. However, it can also be made from the remains of plants and animals. Are their harmful effects? Yes. Do we still live longer lives now in this age of plastic then in the age before it? Yes. People are biased; most cannot see both sides of an argument.
@athenaraven1 Now, I don't believe in filtering my water. Nor, do I purchase bottled drinks on a regular basis, and if I do, I reuse the bottle for a period of 1 - 4 weeks. I am also aware that many items don't get recycled, however if the general public was more proactive they would. That said, plastic drink bottles and aluminum cans are some of the most recycled items out there. Here, in Canada there's a 5 cent refund per bottle/can - it greatly helps.
@athenaraven1 I also pick up any discarded bottles or garbage I see when I'm outside, clean them and recycle them/return them for refund.(My city has a state of the art recycling system) I also metal detect, and clean and recycle the scrap metal I find. I recently detected an organic beef farm pasture; under the soil was roughly 6 pounds of lead from Victorian lead roofing, plus pewter, iron, brass, copper etc. All will now be recycled. Trust me, I do my part for the enviroment ;)
@edydon Infant mortality was hardly the only issue; disease, lack of proper diet, death during childbirth all claimed lives of people in their teens and twenties. Feel free to believe whatever you want, however the fact is that modern practices are what keeps the average individual alive as long as they do.
