  • The soundtrack was issued as a remastered 2-cd version in 2004...amazing.

  • and since then we are still trying to purge our society...god help us

  • What's the name of this song, so I can find it in the Greek?

Thank you for posting this infectiously joyous song.

  • guys where can i find this movie with english or german subtitles?

  • siko lefteri na deis ta chalia mas

  • synergy should not be decreased by struggling with history.. we should not care dead ones' revenge or honor..

    carpe diem a.q.

  • Turkish kemalists killed all smyrnians greeks and the rest that fleet away was deported to greece with no money no nothing

  • This is a big historical lie. Because Greek soldiers had invaded "Izmir" . Please read history books about Turkish Freedom War. Maybe, you'll be understand real things about the Kemalists and Turkish freedom Wars. Don't make lie propaganda.

  • You sound so certain about history... You weren't there, I wasn't there. All we do is reading history books. We should question who wrote them and what he is representing. By all means certainty is stupidity...

  • its not izmir idiot but smurni and is greek polis 3000 years,,

how can we invades our greek land for 3000 years?

they say turks are ownests with the true but not you

  • @progonolatreia so easy, according to the international law the land belonged to the ottoman empire and you broke the law with the help of the sevres treaty and tried to annex the land. that makes you invaders, very simple isn't it ?

  • @aporia82

dont understimade your self ..please!i am not talking with an idiot?do i?

  • @progonolatreia oh no I'm not an idiot but you are childish and unrealistic, I just read your comment again. "the land belonged to greeks becuase it was 3000 years of greek soil" blah blah blah. my friend if things should work in this way believe me there should not be any nation state in the world right now. stop this childish attitude and read some international politics.

  • @aporia82

    i make international politicks

  • You're boring

  • hey man. stop the crap! dont allow nationalism make you blind.

    long live turkish-greek friendship!

  • The rightest speaking you could made.

  • Well, I wouldn´t call myself a nationalist, but has turkish-greek friendship ever existed? When?

  • never. and will never exist. cats and dogs will never be friends. It s like that and will alway be. End of story

  • Comment removed

  • The occupation of Bursa and adjacent regions started BEFORE the War of Eskisehir-Afyonkarahisar. That is what I said and I was not wrong.

  • well it's the second version I hear from a Turk , decide on what you learn

  • Of course they did beat organized forces. Not Kemalist forces at the time, but Ottoman forces, and organized Ottoman Barracks. After all the Treaty of Sevres was done and agreed with the Ottoman Empire at the time.

  • Lets not forget tho, the beating of poor villagers of Pontus by the Ottoman forces and later by Kemal, which concluded the Genocide of the Ionian Greeks, plus the Genocide of the Armenians. A well organized plan by Germans and Ottoman Turks.

  • pos mporeis na kaneis eirini me tous anthropous pou sou piran tin patrida ?

    pontos-ionia-kappadokia-kupros..

  • stop and enjoy the song!!

  • The TRUTH is, we got greedy. We beat the turkish forces out of the western 1/3 of MIKRA ASIA but then that wasnt enough. We wanted the WHOLE thing. The brits and the russkies saw this and then stopped supplying the Greek Armed forces with weaponry but the Greek state still continued and that is when the serious logistics problem took place especially at sakaria. Then the political rivalries took over and that was all she wrote. One bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush, we got greedy.

  • There were NO organized Turkish forces in 1919, the army was abolished following to the Armistice of Mudros (1918) thus the Greek army could occupy Western Turkey. Turkish army and local forces could gather under the rule of Mustafa Kemal Pasha and get organized in 1921 and 1922.

  • Initially the agreement was, that the Greek Army was to occupy western turkey but not the hinter land , which is still western Turkey. That changed when the Greek Army began expanding it's area of control, and you are WRONG , read about the battles of Afion-Karahisar and Eskisehir......Greek Army defeated the turkish armed forces in those battles. The Greek Army was led by King Constantine and the turkish army at those battles led by Ismet Pasha.

  • AND, I never mentioned anything about 1919

  • Not only the Greek Army. The Armistice of Mudros, allowed the ALLIES to occupy the lands.

Of course when the Greek Army got attacked by Turkish Nationalists, answered the attacks.

  • well said kvl69.

ethnicists are usually the ones that begin wars...

  • ethnicists or nationalists. But nationalism is sometimes very necessary. Venizelos was a naitonalist in the extreme, and if were not for his nationalism Greece would have never thrown out the rest of the ottoman turks out of the Aegean and other areas of Greece and maybe we may not have had Thessaloniki either , it owuld have gone to the bulgarians. Venizelos was the greatest HELLENE since Megas Alexandros for doing this alone. There is no denying it, he did it.

  • and then turksih ethinicists, did what anyone would do, defended their homeland, but because they were fascist scums, like all ethnicists, they also destroyed it

and the funny thing is, that my grandfather was forced to abandon Smyrni because of greek ethnicists wanting to fight turkish ethnicists

and then he would be discriminated as a turk, by ethnicists, again, this time in Greece

so this is my proposal: all you ethnicists, go play some where else, and leave serious people alone

  • nipsonanom, the fact that you were arbitrarily born in your country - in the same RANDOM way every human was born in their country doesnt mean you have the right to disgrace it with idiotic comments about trembling boots... and for your info, and if you had studied any history, you should probably know that it was clearly a greek error what happened in Smyrni

  • ta paidia tis aminas

  • Sas parakalw polu...pws to lene auto to tragoudi??????

  • Vasoulaki, akoute rembetiko re nea genia! Kai olos o kosmos na xalasei, me ena rembetiko 8a ksanaginei kainouurios!

  • Tis aminis ta paidia!

  • The National Defence was also the leading party at the start of march of our army from Smirna toward Asian Minor midland. So, please learn some history before you make comments about the similarity of greeks and turks. Because despite we had lost the 1922 war. Still we are here and when we return to this territories the earth will trembling under our boots.

  • Yes my friend you are free to full yourself Turkish Greek Armenian kurdish bulgarian arab are very similar Besides why to spoil this common turkish myth? But if you want to see the truth we have nothing common. We are completely different. And the proof is this song itself. It says about the National Defence. Its was a party that wanted to continue the fight agaist Turks and to occupie territories in Asia Minor.

  • Who's the person that sings this? He sure has a fine voice. Plus an excellent song all around.

  • Some of these comments make me vomit - how are we to forget 400 years of terror and genocide, both cultural and ethnic? Today the Mongol swine desecrate our churches in Northern Cyprus. This song expresses our love of freedom and hatred of Turkish oppression, just read the lyrics.

  • Turkish Greek Armenian kurdish bulgarian arab. We are very similiar people. What before happened please forget. Don`t hate but forget. With hate there`s no future.

  • That's right! thumbs up

  • arab?, please, if we are going to be compared with people, compare us even with turks before arabs.

  • I've liked three songs from this movie, this is the Oone I like the most.

  • Awesome music... to bad it is ruined by the moaning at some parts. Any idea where to get a copy of this song?

  • ινε τρομερο που στα πιο ωραια μας τραγουδια ta comment einai agglwn k gallwn...

  • αντε ρε μογγολοι!!

τραβατε φτιαξτε κατι μονοι σας ζητιανοι!!

  • I loved the sound of this music. Does it matter being Turk or Greek. We all are humans. and ou r bellies dance for the same rhythm and the same food.

  • Well I always held these beliefs (among others of course) Even if we are enemies with a people (and this goes for others , not only greeks and turks) we can never discriminate against: 1. Food 2. women 3. music They are all to be enjoyed without any prejudice whatsoever :)

  • music is and will alwayw be a result of the merging of nations!it doesnto belong to anyone but the people who enjoy it!

  • you have excellent taste :) I too reckon that this was the best movie :)

  • is it wrong as a turk to consider this music as my own? living far away from my home country nothing reminds me better of Anatolia then rembetiko.

  • My friend montevideo, sure music like this is played in Turkey, but it comes from far older times Vyzantine and far back..Many millions of these populations were forced to obey to ottomans after the turkish occupation. Most peoples of Turkey know that they are greeks, pontioi, kurds, alevis, armenians.Very few are original turks from Altai mountains. And I ask:have you ever looked for your roots?

  • nice love this music
