I have seen 1964 several times, twice while Gary Grimes was alive & still playing Sir Paul. Gary sure did have all the mannerisms pllus the exact looks as the real Sir Paul. I won't forget the first time meeting Gary I thought he really was the real Sir Paul. So I ran up to him yelling"Paul! Paul! Give me your autograph please". O! Brother I bet Gary though I lost my mind that night & he thought to himself"Doesn't this lady know I am not the real Paul MCcartney"? Great video! Thanks! Critty200
Gary was truly one of the best and he was a true gentleman. I met him when we hired 1964 to play our fall festival in Rising Sun, Indiana in 2007. 1964 is no doubt the best beatles tribute band in the world and there will never be another Gary Grimes. God bless his family and give them great peace along with the great memories of him.
I first heard the Tribute back in 1992. They were playing for our county fair. I was a Deputy Sheriff walking the midway when I heard them start playing. I went around the grandstand in total amazement! Not only did they sound like the Beatles, but from a distance, they looked like them too! There was hardly anyone in the stands and I'm thinking, are people crazy? These guys are GOOD! I caught them at least 4 more times around our area including the Toledo Mud Hens (Shea Stadium)!!!
@7arsehle6 I'm not sure that was Jimmy Pou performing in this show. I'M THINKING that someone took jimmy's place for this show. It happened a few times with most of them one time or another.
@vzlar0x Gary taught himself to play left handed bass to be more exacting in his role as Paul. That is beyond my comprehension as a righty myself but he did it.
You may have seen the bad news but Gary passed away Mon. Dec. 13th, 2010 from his many month battle with brain cancer. He will be missed not only as a founding member of 1964 but as one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Thank God for these videos so that we can still enjoy the band with Gary as Paul. 7arsehle6, thank you!
For my money & taste,1964 The Tribute is right up there with the best of them...I've listened to all the Beatles tribute bands I could over the last 9 years, & put them in the top 3. I'm a huge Beatles fan (in real time) & continue to love their music, magic & mystique more & more each day. The Night before, was the reason I bought the album when the the movie first came out so it's always been special for me. To hear it performed so well in this clip (w/o keyboards mind you), 2 thumbs up boys!
You guys did great and you look really nice in suits. Thats they way groups dressed back then not with holes in their clothes and their pants dragging the ground. Great Great job.
The point of 1964 The Tribute is to re-create Beatlemania, a phenomenon, a happening that will never be again. This band has come the closest to the real deal. When you attend their performance you should see how happy the audience is...smiles all over the place. For a few hours people escape their problems and have a fantastic time. 1964 The Tribute has earned every compliment they've received. See them in person and you'll walk away very, very impressed...and thankful!
I for one find these Bealtes look-alike bands to be a little plastic and creepy on some level. I have no problem with a Beatles cover band...but when you start acting like them...talking like them...that's just weird
Cover bands act like themselves, music's good, that's OK. 1964 shows the whole package. They have played at the Cavern in England, when Tribute celebrations of the Beatles are held. They have packed the Cavern "again" which shows the esteem the Brits hold for 1964. Go see them in person, it will feel real, as you'll never see the "real" ever again.
these guys are good, but there's another mock band that is probably just as good. you ever hear of "American English"? i saw them the other nite their George is an excellent guitarist. Their Paul looks like the recent Paul, their John sounds like John the hair looks like him, but he doesn't look like him. But they sound pretty amazing . .
OK MaxieBassMan "12" a whippersnapper at best, you can nit pick on dates to show you're nifty, then when you get a few whiskers tell us something we don't know. Keep thumpin with that BASS, glad you know your "Beatles" though.........
Ok Something You Dont Know Let It Be Was Made Before Abbey Road But Released After... When The BEatles Were Doing The First Recording With George Martin George Martin Said "If There's Something You Dont Like Tell Me And ill Change It"
Then George Harrrison Said "I Dont Like Your Tie"
In ob la Di Ob La Da When Paul Says Lend A Hand In The Backround You Can Barely Hear It You Hear George Yell Arm Then John Yell Head...
I saw many Beatles bands covering all their songs but I think they are the best ever heard - sound is perfect voices too the postures are ok - we could say Beatles are back!!!
Yeah. Saw those! Great Vids. I saw them here in NH at the Palace Theatre recently. Best '64 show yet. Do you have anything of them doing Paperback Writer? That is my fav. song that 64 does.
Jimmy is doing is in the band British Export now, and has his own show, "An Evening With George" now. Please put the Balloon Fest. videos on and mor of the Whittenburg College . - Al
Thanks on the Jimmy Pou info. A Balloon Fest Video has been added. Sorry to all the video glitches on this one. With crowd squeezing in, couldn't view "Johns" face during Balloon Fest. Also added special request, "Slow Down". Will add more Wittenburg vids SAP.
OK, will do. Terry left huh. Glad he's back. Tom is back! Great. What happened to Jimmy Pou? Tom have the seniority recall rights? Haven't seen them since 1995. Hope to see them again soon.
To 1964beatleman, This concert was from August 27th., 1995. Also have their concert at Wittenburg College, October 1993 & a concert at the National Balloon Festival in Middletown, Ohio July of 1993, when Tom Work played as George. This was when Terry Manfredi's (Ringo) drum head was printed "THE BEATLES" over 1964, subsequently Apple Records sued them to remove the "Beatles" drum logo. If there is interest, will post videos from these concerts.

@1lundun-Guy in purple shirt is their guitar tech. He'd just replaced a broken string on "George's" Gretch, for the next song in the set.
