Fift time i was like plz help me i want to now how tomake molds can you make vid with explain plzz

  • @eetdekiwieter *laugh* Thanks. Well, I haven't been able to make many direct tutorial videos, mainly due to time. But, there are several videos available that are very good for helping beginners. Smooth-On has several here on YouTube and on their Website that show many ways of making molds, depending on what you would like to produce. Also, watch Freeman Manufacturing and Brickingtheyard for more videos. Good stuff.

  • They look really good i think. My 5 cents. The flocking along the edges are too regular. Espessially since the one side is a perfect straight edge. so as is seen in the video when it is placed on the muddy middle the straight green line looks odd.

Maybe dont flock the sides? Make the edges of the road sculpted to look like displaced mud or earth? that way the road defines itself and could easily be used on different themed terrain and still look to fit. (eg. a marsh, snow, desert etc theme.)

  • @yancke Interesting idea. I understand your concern about the flock not meeting the bare areas on the playing surface. They could easily be altered. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

  • @Terranscapes, no thank you for making such gangster terrain, I look forward to learning more by watching your videos.

  • Hey Mike. Massively impressed by the finished roads.

    Two questions.

    1. What sort of paint do you use to stop it cracking when the rubber flexes?

    2. Is the dye used also a Smooth-On product or a generic dye and can it also be used in resin?

  • @squidgybidge Currently I am just latex paint and it seems to give enough to not crack. The dye is formulated for urethanes and could be used in urethane plastics as well as rubbers. It is produced by smoothon.com.

  • what would be cool if there were like footprints or wheel tracks so it looks like people have been on the road.

  • @thesuperjohn57 I decided to omit them to keep the roads more time period generic. To be honest, I'm struggling just to paint them consistently at the moment. Painting rubber is a whole different beast. ;)

  • I really like this set, very clever idea, and very well executed mate

  • @dreamspiritwar Thanks. :)

  • very nice job, looks great

  • I have a zuzzy flexible mat for playing but I never started to put a finish on it (color or flock) since I was afraid it would break or peel away. I believe it's a silicon rubber, but I'm interested in how you managed to have the paint and the flock so well stuck to the rubber.

  • @Shannariano I have a friend who is finishing a zuzzy mat and has same concern. The zuzzy is latex and I would expect it to accept acrylic paints well. I would think latex paint would be a very good choice. Latex has some give, and latex to latex should be a good pairing. The zuzzy site doesn't mention specific paints to use (I think) so try out a small corner and abuse it some. Can always prime over it later. As for flock, the flock sticks to the paint, so paint is the key.

  • WHAT no Roman 90 degree turns(just joking). I think this was an excellent job well done. The work you put trying to find out the best ways you can get materials to work is great.

  • @437cosimo Thanks. :)

  • what will be the price for this set? :O

  • @linikratyo $50 finished. Not sure on unfinished price yet.

  • @Terranscapes hmm, expensive but it might be worth it. I'll think about it, but first I would like more information on shipping, so please post a video on youtube when it's up on the store ;)

  • @linikratyo I have them up on the store now, but I have just closed the store to new orders until February. (I'm swamped!) I should also add that I have added the option to get them unfinished (unpainted) as well to reduce cost. Keep an eye on the newsletter on the TerranScapes site for information on the store reopening after the new year.

  • @Terranscapes will do ;)

  • Very cool looking road set!

  • kitty cat!

  • omg... this flexible road is awesome!

  • those look amazing.

  • Fantastic. You weren't joking about it being flexible! Will you be offering it unfinished?

  • @DocOcks Actually I should have mentioned that. I will be offering them unfinished as well.

  • That pretty cool man.. Hey, I know you use Hirst molds sometimes. Can you use resin in the molds? I have a few but the Plaster is just to weak. And again the roads came out awsome.

  • @MrBigeisback Thanks. You can use resin but it will degrade the molds over time. Expect 30 casts from a mold with resin depending on the mold. Instead, I would recommend using a stronger plaster. Merlin's Magic is a good quality plaster to use for home hobbyists.

  • @Terranscapes Thanks Much Appriciated..

  • Very interesting use of rubber material -- looks like it works really well. Great job as usual!

  • Those look really good will you trade Mark the shapes

  • @hobbybutterfly not sure you can 'trademark' roads. ;)
