I had this phone for about 6 weeks and sometimes when I would take it out, people would burst out laughing because of it's comically large size.
I've never had a phone make me feel safer in shady neighborhoods but with the Epic 4G I always new that if real shit went down, I always had a large blunt object to beat someone to death with.
I was so torn between the evo and the epic and when i saw this review and that kick ass keyboard I was SOLD!!! getting it this weekend cant wait , super stoked !!

@fiveH You are only talking about hardware. I dont think the epic has a leg up in hardware either. Its camera and camcorder is shit and the screen is slightly smaller yet the phone is the same size. I guarantee I know more about either of these phones than you so dont act like these "facts" are something I havent seen yet. Hardware keyboards are obsolete for me and other people, especially when the onscreen keyboard on the epic is shit. The six axis has no apps benefitting it.

I hear the epic is quite similar to the evo except for the keypad, little smaller screen, and it doesn't do HD? So.. i guess it's all personal preference. My contract finally expired and ive had the HTC TOUCH from sprint (it's just called TOUCH) - it's a mini version of all touch phones. and I mean, i've had it for quite someitime but it kept freezing.

I currently have the evo, but it is an absolute piece of shit in terms of the hardware. I can compile a fucking list of bullshit, i.e. light leakage, dead pixels, terrible battery, freezing, random rebooting, etc.. Initially, I only wanted the large screen coupled with froYo (adobe flash ftw). However, I am still within my 30 days, and I intend to "swap" it for the epic 4g...
This phone is definitely deserving of the name Epic, but I wish Samsung had the sense to not copy the iPhone 3 style so blatantly on the Vibrant/Epic versions. They should have just gone with the classiers, squared-off styling of the Captivate for the whole line imo, and kept the FM radio and front facing cameras in all of them. Obviously not everyone cares about FM or a front facing camera though and I think the lack of one in the Captivate has more to do with what carriers wanted.
phone looks great and everything, but samsung has soooo many problems with phones from the instinct to the moment and battery life is baddddd. Plus sprint and samsung can never agree on things. I think i MAY stick with the evo, even though that keyboard looks tempting!

@fiveH You are only talking about hardware. I dont think the epic has a leg up in hardware either. Its camera and camcorder is shit and the screen is slightly smaller yet the phone is the same size. I guarantee I know more about either of these phones than you so dont act like these "facts" are something I havent seen yet. Hardware keyboards are obsolete for me and other people, especially when the onscreen keyboard on the epic is shit. The six axis has no apps benefitting it.

While Samsung making Wimax enabled phones is perfectly ok to me(Samsung is one of Pioneers in Wimax development)it did raised my eyebrows while htc announced 4G phones.Upon further research,there are rumors that google selectively gave Wimax support to htc or Intel assisting htc for Wimax support in Android OS.

I have seen you every EPIC videos bashing Epic,simply because it is now widely understood that it is better than evo. advantages of Evo is kickstand and UI,but kickstand is not a innovation.old nokia phones had that. Touchwiz is not as refined as sense,but for those preferring a simple UI,touchwiz is definitely to go.it is not like Touchwiz is completely useless.

BTW you obviously dont know anything about computers or any tech if you think that a processor alone is as important as the way the processor functions with the rest of the hardware. Notice the captivate is choppy as fuck when doing basic navigations, it has the same processor you fucktard.

2. The epic doesnt look that much better, its also smaller
3. battery life is better but the hd video and camera suck compared to the evo, especially now that the evo got the hd video software upgrade
4.evo does not lag but the epic does play them better with better colors
5. Movies do not look better, im sorry not you are just pulling shit out of your ass.
6. evo has froyo and an 8 mega pixel
7. evo doesnt have shitty touchwiz.

@120785superman thx for the input. I've been on the waiting list for the evo forever now. I hear the epic is quite similar to the evo except for the keypad, little smaller screen, and it doesn't do HD? So.. i guess it's all personal preference. I like to shoot video and stuff so that might be a factor. But I also like the keypad. lol. Guess I'll have to decide.

im lucky.i have 5 phones on sprint,in one plan.
and about 3 of them are due for upgrade.
not counting one i upgraded to the evo.
so i could get any new phone that comes out on sprint,and believe me sprint is coming up with some real good phones.& just do the ole switcharoo:D

My contract finally expired and ive had the HTC TOUCH from sprint (it's just called TOUCH) - it's a mini version of all touch phones. and I mean, i've had it for quite someitime but it kept freezing.
If anyone has this, how much did you purchase it for & how much is it per month? (10$ extra?)
Oh & also, if anyone has this samsung epic- does it freeze?problems?
physical keyboard ok, good, horrible? I hate those slide keyboards.

I currently have the evo, but it is an absolute piece of shit in terms of the hardware. I can compile a fucking list of bullshit, i.e. light leakage, dead pixels, terrible battery, freezing, random rebooting, etc.. Initially, I only wanted the large screen coupled with froYo (adobe flash ftw). However, I am still within my 30 days, and I intend to "swap" it for the epic 4g...

This phone is definitely deserving of the name Epic, but I wish Samsung had the sense to not copy the iPhone 3 style so blatantly on the Vibrant/Epic versions. They should have just gone with the classiers, squared-off styling of the Captivate for the whole line imo, and kept the FM radio and front facing cameras in all of them. Obviously not everyone cares about FM or a front facing camera though and I think the lack of one in the Captivate has more to do with what carriers wanted.

phone looks great and everything, but samsung has soooo many problems with phones from the instinct to the moment and battery life is baddddd. Plus sprint and samsung can never agree on things. I think i MAY stick with the evo, even though that keyboard looks tempting!
