    Keep those kids away from him before any more damage is done. If he is not as committed to being a father as you are to being a mother then do not destroy your children's emotional health over you wanting a father/husband type of guy.

  • Yes...I suspect that's why there are more people opting NOT to marry, but are building a family on their own instead. Good mates, who also want kids, are hard to find.

  • Yes, it's true that the lack of strong parents in a child's life can have a huge impact on how the grow up into the wider world.

    Of course, it is also true that this is the case with a certain small percentage of children, so it's not the only variable that matters. Someone without two parents doesn't automatically join a gang or become pregnant as a teenager. Looking at all the variables is important.

  • The most common thing gang members share is the absence of a father. This is true of teen girl runaways. This is also true boys dropping out of high school.

    This is true of boys on probation and in jail.

    Girls feel a void not having a father. When their first boyfriend comes around they are so happy they have sex often and with many boys.

    Why should it be any different if the mom decides to be a single mom? Will all this trouble disappear because she chooses to have it disappear?

  • @middletech The kids in which you speak of were produced unintentionally.More than likely, dead beat fathers who don't pay child support which results in a over worked and over stressed mom who cannot spend as much time with her kids as she would like so the kids find attention elsewhere.Mind you I was brought up with married parents.They were unhappy and did a lot of damage because of it.However, I choose not to dwell in it.I teach my kids not to dwell on their ''what ifs'' as well.They
